You see, all a person needs to rise to the top---socially, economically, politically---is to pay attention to what the MAGA headliners really hate. And then, that ambitious moral pygmy need only find a way to express that same hatred in a way that makes a big splash.
If the PTB hate Democratic leaders, find a forum with news coverage and SCREAM that you DEMAND they be hung---of better yet BEHEADED!
If they repeatedly bash people of color or JEWS or LGBTQ folks, found a group of thugs to intimidate or beat or kill these folks. Of course you never actually harm anyone; you just motivate others to do that. And, preferably, give your mob some catchy "macho" name.
If they support American adversaries bent on destroying democracy, insist that those very adversaries are the "real" small-d democrats and the big D Democrats are nazis.
In general, doing or saying anything that a decade ago would have been considered outrageously unAmerican will put you on the express elevator to the top of MAGAdom.
So, don't break a sweat---just get your hate on!
There are two types of people we encounter in life.
When sucker-punched, some are intimidated and some just get pissed.
I will say it---Putin needs to die.
I am aware that there is some speculation that he is already dying of cancer, but even if that is true, how many thousands more Ukrainians will he murder before he dies "naturally"?
And, I am aware that a wealthy former oligarch has put a $1,000,000 bounty on Putin's head, but that is "chump change" for a hit like this one would be.
Stroke of lightning, unexpected cardiac arrest, paid assassin or Russian patriot---let's confront the harsh reality: Putin's death in the near future is about the only way for the slaughter in Ukraine to end.
I understand that there are people who believe that calling for anyone's death is always wrong. They are certainly entitled to believe that. As for me, if ending the carnage in Ukraine is wrong, I don't want to be right.
The "immoral core" that Putin and Trump share: "I want what I want when I want it and
I don't give a damn who that hurts!"

Thought Ukraine could be easily had

Pedestrians
Some with grey hair fringing their babushkas shuffle slowly throught twisted steel and broken glass, trying to step carefully as distant explosions compel them to halt unsteadily and search the near horizon for the unseen enemy. The small bags they clutch hold all they managed to rescue from a shattered life. Wearily, they plod on toward---where?
Some clasp a babe on their hip with their left hand while holding tightly onto their toddler's hand with their right. All the three of them now own is stuffed into her backpack. For them, she smiles often and hums familiar tunes as they continue their "exciting trip".
As they pass, weary men with rifles---some old, some very young---nod encouragement and do their best to guard their progress. And, something in the way they walk, the way their weary red eyes widen and flash at each rattle of distant gunfire, makes it very clear that anyone trying to harm these precious bedraggled pedestrians will have to kill them first.

I think that a part of the discomfort I feel when watching news accounts of the continuing
tragedy in Ukraine is that nagging little internal voice that keeps reminding me that Putin is so much "like Trump".
He's a liar---like Trump.
He is shameless---like Trump.
He does not care about his people---like Trump.
He is obscenely wealthy---like Trump.
He claims "They're all out to get me!"---like Trump.
He has never been held accountable for his crimes---like Trump.
I can't avoid the comparisons. Can you?
There's just no disputin'
This monster named Putin
Whose troops are now shootin'
And rapin' and lootin'
Sure needs prosecutin'

Maybe we should stop calling subpoenas "subpoenas". Literally, I believe, the term means
"under penalty"---you are summoned to appear or face a penalty.
There does not seem to be any penalty that means anything unless you are one of us "little people".
If I ignore---or worse, flip off--- a subpoena, I would expect a "Rule" ordering me to appear on a specific date and time within two or three weeks to show cause why I should not be held in contempt of court and a warrant for my arrest to be issued if I again failed to appear. Continued open defiance and disrespect would get me some jail time.
Given the lack of respect the Trump loyalists show for what we've been calling subpoenas, maybe we should just rename them "legal paper thingies".
