Atticus's JournalAn "OMG!" Stephen King quote:
"People think that I must be a very strange person. This is not correct. I have the heart of a small boy. It is in a glass jar on my desk.
A little Tolkien:
"I wish it need not have happened in my time, said Frodo.
So do I, said Gandalf, and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.
Yup.
RIDDIT! RIDDIt! RIDDit! RIDdit! RIddit. Riddit ----riddit----rid--dit----rid------------ nt
Does or does not the U.S. House of Representatives have "inherent contempt power"? At one
time they did.
If they do not still have the power to arrest and try those who defy their subpoenas, when and how did they lose it?
There are some truly wonderful instructional videos available for free online. I replaced the
solenoid on our garden tiller, wired a 3-way electrical switch and replaced the bearings in an old trailer wheel by watching them. I also cook, grill and use my smoker quite a bit, so I am always looking for new recipes. I really have just one negative about SOME of these videos: some of the people who make them consider their 10 minute how-to their opportunity to become internet stars.
This turns a 5 minute "How to make burnt ends with your electric smoker" into a 27 minute tour of their immaculate kitchen while they explain why mesquite chips are their very favorite for smoking meat and several quotes of what their inlaws said about the flavor he imparted to his brisket. And, too many spend time complimenting their own personal brand of seasoning.
I don't care.
I want to learn how to make the recipe you offered to provide.
I will not buy " Billy Bob's Bodacious Brisket Butter" or whatever because some guy I don't know recommended it.
I quickly leave some smoker recipe videos as soon as one particular "star" appears and I have clicked off of a small engine repair video as soon as the camera panned to the Trump posters on the shop wall.
There are too many excellent videos available to waste time wading through the "sparkling personalities" and the political mutants.
What is so bad about Madison Cawthorn?
I mean, ---really.
Supposedly, he was recently threatened by a fellow Republican with being kicked out of the Republican conference "if he broke the law one more time". Cawthorn twice brought his gun with him to board a flight and had been caught driving with a revoked license two times in recent years.
You have to wonder which of the 147 Republicans who voted to illegally and unconstitutionally overturn the fairly conducted 2020 election is upset with Repesentative Cawthorn's lawbreaking.
A memo for Mikey: Dear Mr. Pence---
Just so you know, your position that you were "honored" to serve as Trump's VP and that, while you and he did not always agree, you still respect him indelibly marks you as the most spineless creature in a party of invertebrates. Most find your cowardice in failing to oppose the monster whose thugs tried to assassinate you DISGUSTING!
Once you are laughed out if the '24 primaries, do you think Mother will let you write a book?
All railroad tracks in the US are the same gauge or size so all trains can use them.
All service station gasoline nozzles are the same diameter to fit in virtually any type of vehicle.
Why have the charging plugs for EVs not been standardized so they can be used for any electric vehicle?
When four-year-olds streak around a nice restaurant, crashing into waiters and grabbing food off
diners' tables, do we blame the child or the parents who fail to discipline and control them?
If students routinely cheat on exams at a school where the only penalty for cheating is a lecture, do we blame the students or the school administration?
If a fellow employee spends his day on the business computer playing video games and numerous complaints to the boss are ignored, do we blame the goof-off or the boss?
So, who's to blame when a parade of Trumpie thugs responds to a Congressional subpoena with the equivalent of a raised middle finger and not one has yet been penalized?
For some Republicans, only one thing matters when choosing who to back in their primary.
"Which candidate will most piss off Democrats?"
