Atticus
Atticus's JournalAnecdotal and may not be meaningful, but the "Trump 2020" yard sign and flag I have had
to drive past for the last 6 weeks or so are GONE as of this morning. Both were there 48 hours ago.
Hm-m-m--------
Dateline, Cracker's Neck, Missibama: Local citizens gathered in front of "Jed's Beer 'n Ammo To Go"
and spoke in hushed tones about the sudden death of one of their own, State Representative Zelmo Thudpucker. Rep. Thudpucker died of asphyxiation at Jed's drive-in window after absentmindedly reading a sign on a passing car from "up north". The sign bore the words "BLACK LIVES MATTER" and it was common knowledge that Trump disciples like Rep. Thudpucker were just never ever to say those words out loud. And, for good reason, it seems.
"The EMT's found Zelmo unresponsive when they arrived and declared him deceased on the scene, right in front of Jed's drive-up" explained his heartbroken fiance, Liza Jane Clodfelter. "They said his tongue must have just swoll up and blocked his air pipe!" she added before leaving at the wheel of a dually pickup emblazoned with "Re-elect Zelmo! He's MAGAnificent!".
Those in the know are already predicting that Zelmo's little brother, Cletus "Hold muh beer" Thudpucker, will likely be named to serve the remainder of his term.
A good metaphor for "herd immunity"? Google "river crossing, wildebeest migration, crocodile".
Watch a few of the videos you'll find.
MOST of the wildebeests get across the river safely.
Some are injured.
Some are torn apart and eaten alive.
"Herd immunity" is a part of the "safety in numbers" philosophy.
If you or a loved one tests positive for the Corona virus and dies or survives with life-changing impairments, you must understand that MOST people are just fine.
After all, crocodiles gotta eat, too.
How about we just use our common sense and our own personal life experience
in considering whether Trump was briefed months ago about Russia paying bounty money for the killing of US soldiers?
IF---IF---IF Trump was not told about this shocking intelligence (a ridiculous assumption, I know, but play along, okay?), how would any sane innocent POTUS react?
With indignation! With "Get the heads of all intelligence agencies into the Oval Office NOW! Whoever is responsible for withholding this information from me is guilty of criminal malfeasance or worse and WILL be held accountable! And, the following course of action with regard to Russia will be undertaken immediately as our response to this outrage:------------"
Isn't something along those lines what we would expect from a "legitimate" POTUS?
But, what did we hear from the traitor? "Nobody told me nothin' and Vlad denies it strongly, so-----"
How much of this traitorous bullshit are we expected to swallow?
I suppose that the people who think the federal government might yet do something
intelligent, useful and science-based to curb the raging pandemic are the same folks who are waiting for Trump to "pivot" and "act presidential".
The stupid is strong in those.
Serious question: should ALL speech be protected? The obvious answer is, I believe, "no".
Most of us are familiar with the commonly offered example that one cannot shout "FIRE!" In a crowded theater when there is no fire. While that makes obvious sense, it is not terribly useful in judging other examples of "extreme" speech.
When Trump---who has praised, condoned and encouraged violence as a response to those with whom he disagrees---publishes poor-quality photos of people "suspected" of vandalizing a statue along with a screed about the "seriousness" of the crime--- is that not the equivalent of the "FIRE!" example?
Do we not believe that many in his "poorly educated" base understand that he is signalling for these "suspects"---or those who resemble them---to be "dealt with"?
As they have done with patriotism, religious freedom and the Second Amendment, the Trumpies have perverted freedom of speech into an unrecognizable weapon which they use to bludgeon their opponents
"A rude, noisy or violent person". That's the definition of "yahoo" and, after slumming
through the blatantly racist comments on the Yahoo site, I see why they chose that name.
Anti-semitism? Check. Racism? Check. Mendacity? Check. Hypocrisy? Check.
Thin skin? Check.
Yup, he's a Republican.
Ignoring it won't make it go away: Donald Trump---nominally POTUS---Is. A. Traitor.
I have neither the time nor the patience to even attempt to list all of the evidence to support my accusation. I will simply summarize the latest sickening outrage that brings me to the keyboard this evening.
In March of this year, US intelligence briefed Trump about how Russia had actually offered insurgent forces in the Middle East CASH BOUNTIES for killing US soldiers. The bounties had not just been offered; some had been paid, i.e., Russia had actually purchased the targeted deaths of American military personnel. The US intelligence agencies worked up a "menu" of options for Trump to respond to this. Trump not only DID NOTHING and has DONE NOTHING to this day, after being told about these "hits for hire", the traitorous whore actually invited Putin to the US and spent several weeks arguing that Russia should be readmitted to the G8!
Fortunately for Mr. Trump, I have no influence on his fate beyond my vote this November and, perhaps, the seeds of impassioned revulsion I might plant with posts like this one. To say he deserves life in prison may be true, but it is too "antiseptic" and aloof. ( I have deleted my original next line as I believe I would regret posting it and I don't need a visit from Agent Mike. )
This traitorous POS MUST at least be removed and prosecuted.
That pic of Trump getting off Marine One after Tulsa reminded me of that old Middle eastern ruler
Shah Den Froida.
Rim shot, maestro, if you please!
