Atticus
Atticus's JournalIt's hardly surprising that all of Trumps "policies" stink to high heaven when you consider
where he pulls them from.
In terms everyone can understand, the latest projections forecast a death toll equivalent to
a "9-11" per day in December.
Hunker down, folks.
Does anyone recall ever seeing Trump's reflected image in a mirror?
Just sayin'----
IF I was a "political analyst" on the TV machine, this would get me face time on several
daily programs:
"While it is true that the Biden/Harris ticket has led virtually every presidential poll since last spring and currently leads even in all the so-called "battleground states" and that Trump has insulted dead US soldiers and alienated people of color, women and veterans, it is technically possible that IF the coronavirus proves substantially more deadly to Democrats AND that huge meteor that just whizzed past earth released some mystery gas that is fatal to everyone with a three digit IQ, November 3rd could be another disheartening evening for Biden voters! It's all right here on my chart----"
Do NOT give the PTB any excuse to disqualify your ballot.
While it is not unusual in the face of all the Trumpiness we witness daily to sometimes feel powerless, there IS one thing each of us can do that WILL make a difference: we can be sure that we cast a VALID ballot that WILL be counted.
Requirements vary somewhat from state to state, but if we READ THE INSTRUCTIONS accompanying the ballot and follow them, we can be a part of saving our democracy.
Be sure your ballot is mailed or delivered in time to meet your state's deadline.
Mark your ballot with the correct color pen and in the manner required, i.e., "fill in the oval". An "X" or a checkmark will not be counted.
Every---or nearly every---state requires a signature ON THE ENVELOPE !

To Trump: stand within arm's reach and call my WWII Marine Dad a "sucker" because
he volunteered to spend two years in the South Pacific.
Please.
We want to support Joe and Kamala, but due to this pandemic and our age, we've decided to
boat by mail.
Any suggestions on how to get two or three flags in an envelope?
Like me, you may have often heard Trump respectfully described as a "counter-puncher". The
implication is that he doesn't START fights but, boy oh boy, he is one "tough hombre" and he will FINISH the fight. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Trump is not a "counter" puncher. Like most cowardly bullies, he's a SUCKER puncher. His idea of a fair fight is to launch a totally unexpected and undeserved attack on someone in government who is much less powerful than him---General Kelly just thrown under the bus---or some totally innocent private citizen who dares to disagree with his bizarro opinions, like Mr. and Mrs. Khan.
Bullies are usually loudmouths and some people ignorantly equate loud with strong. These followers are those who seem to support their leader; always behind him and in total agreement with whatever he says or does. But, these posse members have one thing in common with the bully: they are also cowards. As soon as their front man begins to look less than invincible, they begin to doubt that he is God and, one by one, they begin to trickle away.
The trickle becomes a stream that increases to a flood and, one day, when the bully's name is mentioned, they're all "WHO?" And, when Bully Boy looks behind him on that day and it sinks in that the only supporters he has left are the ones too profoundly stupid to jump ship, he will fill his Depends and begin visibly shrinking as he blathers about shower pressure and bags of soup.
We are at the "trickle" stage. As Rachel says, "Watch this space."
Many talking heads get face time on TV primarily by being "contrarians".
A contrarian, according to the Cambridge Dictionary, is "someone such as a writer or politician who likes to disagree with other people and express opinions that are unpopular".
MSNBC just said that a fresh poll indicated that Biden was leading Trump by 8 points in Wisconsin, a state Democrats "lost" in 2016. That sounded great but oh, no no no---don't you dare find that encouraging, Biden supporters!
The poll results were immediately followed by a female Time correspondent who somberly cautioned that "Democrats better not rest on that poll." She had just spoken with voters in "southeastern Wisconsin" ( Kenosha ) and sure, there were some who were going to vote for Joe, but definitely more were going to vote Trump.
All three counties in the southeastern corner of Wisconsin went for Trump in '16, one by over 20 points. The reporter neglected to mention which county or counties in which she interviewed.
To sum up, a few people---no numbers mentioned---this reporter spoke to in an area including a nest of Trumpies disagreed with a reputable poll.
Is the damn sky falling yet?
By coincidence, both my dad and my father-in-law were Marines who served in the Marshall Islands
during WWII. They never met and were in different platoons, but they were in that combat zone at the same time. Each would tell amusing anecdotes about that time, but neither spoke about the shooting except in the broadest inspecific manner. The experience gave each of them "quiet" times and occasional dreams they would not discuss. Each was a patriot. Each was a hero---to his children and his grateful nation.
I still tear up when I recall the "jarheads" in dress blues who attended my dad's services and hearing "Taps" always puts a catch in my throat.
And, now, this----this----filthy moral pygmy---hell, moral PISS ANT!---dares to call my dad---my wife's dad---"fools" and "suckers"? I am at a loss to form an adequate response. No matter how large I make my font, typing "FUCK YOU, SCUMBAG!" does not begin to convey how much I loathe this arrogant coward!
I hope that some day, in this life or the next, justice will be done.
