Mad_Machine76's JournalYup. I agree
He is not the worst of the bunch ideologically (though he'll parrot the lines he knows the "base" wants to hear when he has to), speaking of Republicans in general but..................that's not saying a whole lot. I still can't get exactly what his appeal is (or is supposed to be). He just comes across to me as the penultimate corporate Republican "empty suit". About the only people I he would seem to appeal to are older, richer whiter people (i.e. "Country Club Republicans" .
To be fair, she only barely lost in 2008
Plus she's a woman and the public is now open to having a woman for POTUS and she has the most recognition. Not saying that all that should make her the de facto/default nominee in 2016 but that's just how a lot of people are probably thinking.
It's amazing that its potency has lasted as long as it has
Republicans have ran hard on it since 2009-2010 claiming that it would destroy Mom, Dad, and America (all at the same time). Now that people clearly see that it's not the big disaster that Republicans claimed that it was (even with the flawed rollout) and, more importantly, the media isn't covering it obsessively, people have finally tuned out about it. It will soon be nothing but a fact of life like the old system.
As I understand it
Many of them had to run far to the right in order to....ahem....beat off the teabaggers, so, now, they have to hold on to that base and try to pretend that they can win over the general electorate. Can they do it?
Congrats! Defeating Sean Duffy would actually be an act of mercy
seeing as he's complaining about his family struggling to make ends meet with his $174K annual salary working a gub'mint job when he could probably be rolling in dough somewhere out there in the private sector.
Anyway, good luck and best wishes!
Victory for what?
As somebody otherwise inclined to support her
Her comments disappointed me here. And "not doing dumb stuff" is exactly what we should be wanting from our leaders IMHO!
I guess
that McCain, et. al "knows best" what Iraq needs. Screw freedom and democracy!
This was so utterly predictable (and expect LOTS more of it in the coming days)
My question(s) for McCain, et. al about all of this:
1. Would Iraq be in such a big mess now if we hadn't invaded/occupied Iraq 2003-2011? Was getting rid of a bloody yet isolated/contained stable and secular dictatorship (which had no WMDs) worth all of the money and American (and Iraqi) lives spent in getting rid of Saddam and his psychotic sons?
2. Is he, et. al suggesting that we should have ignored Iraq's refusal to negotiate a new SOFA and their request that we remove all of our troops in defiance of their democratically elected government that we spent lots of money and lives to set up and defend? I thought that they were all about promoting freedom and democracy (I know that they're not but they say they are, so, hey let's hold them to that).
I bet that they can't answer any of these questions honestly
