Mad_Machine76's Journal#5 is exactly how I feel
Even when Republicans don't win with a mandate, if they have the power, they are totally free and unencumbered to exercise it however they see fit. Yet, when Democrats win and have some real power behind them like they did from 2009-2011, we are supposed to be gracious in our victory and seek bipartisanship and consult with Republicans to avoid any hurt feelings. Now, I know that President Obama appeared to genuinely want to work with Republicans to fix things in the wake of the economic disaster unfolding around that time period (because, hey, we all love America, right? No matter who is in charge, we all want what's best, right?) but the point is that Democrats are naturally expected by the media, punditry, Republicans etc. to be Bipartisan and any Democratic aggressiveness in enacting policies is harshly attacked by same but Republicans can be as aggressive as they want about enacting their agenda, being obstructionist, etc. and they are essentially allowed to get away with it. The double standard here is simply infuriating and I'm certain that Hillary and the Democrats will be held to it if (when) they win in November.
IMHO she and the rest of the Democrats should NOT deal. Republicans nurtured the "base" that helped nominate Trump. That is THEIR internal party problem and it NOT Hillary's responsibility to try to "save" them from themselves.
I thought that Teleprompters were bad- according to wingnuts
Wingnuts had an heyday at one time stupidly poking fun at Obama for using Teleprompters (like every other President before him) and claiming that he wasn't quick enough on his feet, rhetorically and intellectually, to be without one (except that he demonstrated time after time that he could rhetorically and intellectually best any Republican on any given day). Trump gives one (from what I understand) coherent speech using a teleprompter and he is being treated as though his campaign is now miraculously recovering from the disaster that it's been going all the way back to the beginning of it all.
I agree
His ego won't let him leave and it would be (even more) disastrous for the GOP if he did, so he's not going anywhere IMHO. My prediction is that the GOP establishment is preparing to (or already has) write off the Presidential election this year and will try to salvage the down ballot races. Trump will lose in November and declare massive fraud/rigging (which will, of course, be a massive lie) to help excuse his loss, as well as keep the Republican base all fired up to go after Hillary for the next 4 years and to try to take Hillary down in 2020.
Yeah
but five seconds after Clinton wins (yuuuuuge!!!) on Election Night, they will go right back to being the "loyal opposition" and making wild accusations/smears against hear and we will probably end up with 50 or so more Benghazi investigations (if they still control any part of Congress).
I'd like to be wrong about this but............
I agree
I think that what bugs them- and a lot of Americans- is the idea that they might *gasp* be forced by government to have change some of their habits/lifestyle to make the planet............well.....habitable for the foreseeable future.
Because
maybe one or two "experts" don't agree or aren't sure when almost everybody else is. But, hey, let's give THEM veto power over actually doing anything.
He seems to be rather thin-skinned
so, anything short of kneeling and kissing his ring and saying that he's the greatest thing since sliced bread makes him mad. I could really see him being this country's Kim Jong (whatever version they're on now)-style POTUS should we suffer the misfortune of him somehow winning in November.
Where does that bizarre notion come from?
Greens seem to not only dismiss any real-life differences between Democrats and Republicans that anybody with a half a working brain can see and hear with their own eyes but seem to revel in the idea that electing a Democrat would somehow be WORSE than electing the Republican (or at least they are indifferent to the prospect of a Republican being elected or think that it will accelerate the rise of the far left to power....somehow). The Green Party must be at the point where they have gone left so far around the bend that they wind up on the far end of the right.
Can somebody explain
the Republican obsession with the confusion surrounding the motivations of the attackers? It seems to matter so damned much to them, possibly even more than the attack/deaths themselves. What if it was the You Tube video? What if it was an organized terrorist attack? Does anybody- to this day- even know for sure?
