We all thought we were safe. After all, this is America.

Our great grandparents, or our grandparents, or our parents, or you yourself, fled tyranny to come to America, -- "The Greatest Country in the World." And millions, world-wide, are still trying to get here.

But today, I have my fears that they are jumping out of one frying pan into another.

The Republican Party is doing everything possible to make life in America as miserable as possible for immigrants. (A country of immigrants.) And if many of those who have been here for a generation or two, or more have their way, the immigration door will be slammed in the face of the hopeless and desperate of the world. "Give me Your Tired, Your Poor, " and all those other wonderful words on the Statue Of Liberty will become a sick joke and a sad memory.

If Trump wins/steals it, immigration is over. Not to mention the freedoms the rest of us always took for granted.

But, immigrants aside, what about us who are here? Well, given the daily/hourly gun deaths in America, it seems to me that there are places far safer in the world than America. And I'm betting that countless people would have already moved to such places if they could speak the language.

This is not the America I grew up in. And I'm guessing it's not the America that most sane, decent people want to live in.

To borrow from MLK, "I have a dream." It's a country in which all are treated equally, all are safe, and all have the same opportunities as all others. Yeah, this sounds naive. Maybe there's a Utopian planet like this that exists somewhere. And if so, those with a conscience and a sense of fairness and justice seem to have somehow ended up here in the wrong place.

If you're waiting for me to get to a bottom line, here ir is. Trump, his minions, and a cowardly Republican Party who fear him, are well down the road to destroying our country. And it's up to the majority of us who are sane, to stop them. Yet, even if we win big in November, this won't be over. We must be prepared to defend democracy as did the generations who came before us, and who guaranteed the freedoms they fought for and that we now enjoy.

So now it's sneakers. Everything he put his name on failed.

From Trump Steaks, to Trump Vodka, to Trump Deodorant, everything he touched turned to shit. Click here to see a list of some of the crap he's tried to peddle:

https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-products-that-disappeared-list-2018-4

What's he going to try to sell next? Trump diapers?

At one time in America, snake oil salesmen like this were tarred and feathered and run out of town. Yet, millions of Americans want to see this con man in the White House. Why? I don't have a clue. Maybe someone can explain to me why millions of American voters are standing with such an obvious fraud. Why do they identify with him? Why do they eat up his every utterance? Why do they worship him as their "Dear Leader?" It's like he's running some kind of sick, drug controlled religion.

I know that cult behavior can be totally weird, but he's gone far beyond that. A person needs to be just about brain dead to buy into the insanity he's publicly displayed. I just don't "get it." Someone? Anyone? Please enlighten me as to what I'm missing.

Let us not underestimate him.

Yes, we’re all glad to see him fined for over half a billion dollars.

Yes, we Dems are looking forward to his criminal trials and imprisonment.

But:

He’s still the front runner for the Republican nomination for president. And there are still tens of millions of American voters who would vote for him if he ate a live baby on TV.

Can he still become president again?. Well, his evil elves are busy in about half a dozen states that decide the results of the Electoral College. And it’s therefore possible he could once again end up in the White House. Were this to happen, who can deny he will seek absolute and total revenge against any and all who opposed him.

One of his strongest weapons is his willingness to use violence. And there are countless people out there who are ready to follow his lead on this. After all, we saw it on Jan. 6th 2021. And whether he "wins" or loses the 2024 election, he will unleash all the hell he possibly can on America.

IMO, violence can only be defeated with stronger violence (as America demonstrated in WWII). But my concern is that we Dems are too “civilized” to beat back the threat to our freedoms presented by homegrown barbarians. As almost every dictator has demonstrated, you don’t need a majority to seize power. All you need is a motivated minority to do whatever is necessary. And he has that.

Are we, the majority, ready to defend our freedoms from the onslaught of our "fellow citizens?" I'm not so sure. What do you think?

Think Putin and/or the Saudis will bail Trump out of his financial hole?

He's under a microscope right now, and all government "eyes" are on where his money and assets are, and where he's going to get the funds to bail himself out of over half a billion dollars in debt. But the super wealthy have more ways to move wealth around than a dog has fleas.

Trump is a valuable asset to Putin and Saudi Arabia. Will they let him drown in debt? IMO, no. They still have hopes that he'll "win"/steal the presidency in November. And if that happens, all his debts and indictments will be meaningless. After all, he's "... going to be a dictator from the first day."

But that's just my opinion. What do you think? Will he get help from his autocratic "friends?" And even if he loses in November, he's still the unofficial "fuhrer" of the Republican Party. And he can still hold most of the country hostage to his whims and self-interests. And that's what Putin, the Saudis, and others care about.

The Republican Party is the enemy of democracy.

Their "Dear Leader" has said "Fuck NATO" and the Republican Party has fallen into line behind him.

NATO has created a relatively stable world since 1945. And now, the Orange Prick wants to blow it up and let Putin do whatever he wants to do. Translated into plain English, that means the end of a stable civilized world.

Trump is a disease who is potentially as deadly as the "Black Plague" of the middle ages. And if he comes to power again, say goodbye to any saneness that exists in humanity.

Some think that if the Dems win the House and Senate, they'll have the power to stop him. Bullshit. Given the power of the presidency over the military, he will do whatever he wants to do. And his attitude is that the congress and the judiciary are meaningless. He intends to be King. And he's going to ignore the constitution and anything else that stands in his way.

But I'm preaching to the choir here. We all know this. The rest of Americans who don't "get it", and vote for him, will screw us beyond repair. And I don't know what we can do about it. I guess my opinion is that stupid isn't curable.

Hopefully, he'll be crushed in the biggest landslide in electoral history. His MAGA's will take to the streets in fury, but that can be handled. We Democrats are the majority in this country. And we must all vow to not let our democracy be stolen through whatever means the Republicans are cooking up.

Trump, and what Hillary called the "deplorables," must forever be shunned if we want to live in a civilized society.

The Hater

He hates everything that prevents him from doing anything he wants to do. He hates any and all who don't worship him. He hates people who aren't white. He hates people who aren't "Christian." He hates the very concept of democracy. He hates the fact that he can't just declare himself "King for life."

One hater is threatening the very existence of America. One hater has captured one of America's political parties. One hater who is feared and obeyed by the members of that party. One hater who wants absolute power. One hater who has made legislation of any sort impossible.

Stop and think for a moment. One hater who is planning to change the world order, and millions of fools who are ready to vote to help him do it. One hater who wants to rule the world.

One insane hater has brought us to the edge of a cliff, and the majority of us are limited in what we can do to stop him.

Will humanity survive to see future generations on this planet? A large part of the answer to that question will be decided next November by the number of people who vote for the hater.

I fear for America

I fear for our Constitution. I fear for our freedoms, I fear for our future.

Merrick Garland appointed a special prosecutor to investigate Joe Biden having documents from the white House. It was found that he was innocent of intentionally taking them. And then, this Special Prosecutor prick, added his opinion that Joe was forgetful enough at his age to do such a thing.(Special Prosecutors don't get to express opinions. And this one was obviously a biased one.)

Then, we have Trump saying out loud that he would eliminate NATO. Give-me-a-fucking-break. Why doesn't he just come out and say he'll nuke every democratic country in the wold?'

Every word that comes out of every Republican's mouth is meant to please their "Dear Orange Leader."

It seems to me that America is fucked beyond repair. If Trump and the Republican Party "win"/steal the upcoming election, I fear for our planet. The only rules they're playing by is the lust for absolute power.

You"d think we'd understand this and battle them accordingly. But no, we're sticking to the rules. And sticking to the rules may be destroy us all.

American barbarians. Threre are tens of millions of them. Who knew?

Some of them are our relatives, some of them are our neighbors, some are acquaintances, and some of them are (ex) friends.

What's wrong with them? Are they stupid? Are they bigots? Are they in need of a strong leader to worship? Are they just buying into fear, which is the only product that Republican's have to sell? Are they some or all of these things? Beats me.

But they have chosen to side with the Republican's war on America. It's a war that Republicans have waged for decades and they kept it as low-keyed as possible. Until Trump came on the scene, at which point America became an Us vs. Them society. And it sucks a lot.

When Trump leaves the scene, the poison he has injected into our political system will remain and continue to divide and damage us. Even if we win the presidency and both houses of congress in the upcoming election, it will take many years to heal the damage that has been done to "The Greatest Country in the World." (And right now, we should all be questioning whether or not we are worthy of that title.)

But there's one enormous thing of great importance that we must focus on. And that's the American (and foreign) super-wealthy oligarchs who have bought and paid for Donald Trump and countless members of the Republican Party They are the villains behind the scenes. They are the ones who want to "own" us all. They are our deadly enemies. How do we stop them? Tax the hell out of them. But we'll need a major Democratic majority at the state and federal levels to get this done.

Nonetheless, if/when we achieve vast super majorities, that's the answer of how we get rid of the real barbarians who have attracted millions of fools, and who must never be allowed to hold power if we want to hold onto our freedoms.

Why are millions following a madman?

You don't have to be a psychiatrist to see that Donald Trump is mentally deranged. But why have millions of Americans bought into his lies, his lack of humanity and his madness? Seems that most of us have misread our fellow citizens.

From the time I was old enough to vote, I somehow knew that voting for a Republican was voting against my own self-interest. I knew that their plans for the country didn't include the middle class and those in poverty. It was obvious that they represented the interests of the wealthy and couldn't care less about anyone else. And it was also obvious, to me at least, that they were a political party that had no interest in the well being of minorities. But that wasn't all that apparent until Donald Trump came along and tore awaly all the bullshit with which they disguised their bigotry and their hatreds.

Trump brought it all out into the open. We all KNEW he could never become president, so we didn't worry about him, until that insane day that he became president.

And here we are in a world in which everyone knows who and what he is. Yet, most of us are living in fear that he may become president again. And if he "wins"/steals the presidency, that will be the last election we'll see, and it will be the end of "The Democratic Experiment."

Which brings me back to the headline above. "Why are millions of Americans backing a madman?"

I really don't know. Whoever thought that so many could be so incredibly stupid? Who ever thought that so many could be so self-destructive? Who ever thought that it could happen here?

Well, it''s happening here. And the majority of Americans seem to be virtually helpless in the face of an unhinged minority. I guess it's because we play by rules they they ignore. I guess we won't shoot people in the back and they will. I guess that we're perhaps on the verge of losing our democracy and our freedoms because we won't do whatever is necessary to defend them.

"The Greatest Generation" was pretty much in our position until Pearl Harbor was attacked. Maybe it will take something of that magnitude to get us to act. That generation saved the world from pure evil. It remains to be seen how we respond to the current evil that has befallen us.

Tucker Carlson is in Moscow. A visit home?

Amazing how much wingnuts like Carlson love Putin.

The Telegraph, Politico, and other media outlets are reporting that Carlson is in Moscow. He was spotted at the airport and watching a performance of “Spartacus” at the Bolshoi Theatre.

Carlson has defended Putin and his war on Ukraine. Carlson opposes American support for Ukraine and blames the West for provoking Russia. Russian media and Putin apologists speculate Carlson will be granted an interview by Putin because the former Fox News Host is “sympathetic” to Russia.

--snip--

Carlson repeats Russian propaganda directly to his American viewers and espouses a very Pro-Kremlin mindset. In an interview with a rightwing Swiss magazine, Die Weltwoche, last September, Carlson whined that he “tried to interview Vladimir Putin, but the U.S. government stopped me… You’re not allowed to hear Putin’s voice, ‘coz why?”

Vanity Fair notes that Carlson has kept “close ties” to other Russian sympathizers, including Donald Trump, and “has been rumored as a possible VP pick”.

Carlson is a prick of the first class. And I find that final paragraph interesting. I don't know if a Vice President Carlson has ever occurred to Trump, but what a horrifying thought.
