Trump is following Bannon. The alt right bullied Comey on all sides. Trump has been pulling down the shared human fictions that make a democracy run smoothly and the norms of civilization. And many people are falling into line including the Republican establishment. And undoing their norms of behaviour. And not following their human big picture: be that religion or humanism or maturity or science or the constitution or nature, interconnectedness in some way. But instead the siren call of strongman like Putin/Trump, who replace the human big picture with worship of belonging to a strongman. And with that a suddenly sharper and narrow view of the world and their place in it. Running an election but realky walking in lockstep. Trump but really Bannon. Strength but really destruction. Freedom, but really the slavery living in brutal times long past again.
