Bill To Remove President Under 25th Amendment Quietly Gaining Support

For months, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and other Democratic leaders have privately counseled their more militant members to forswear talk of impeaching President Trump, telling them the political support for such a step simply doesn’t exist in the GOP-controlled Congress.

But 24 House Democrats, including the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, are now pushing an equally radical alternative: They are backing a bill that would create a congressional “oversight” commission that could declare the president incapacitated, leading to his removal from office under the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

At 12:56 p.m. Thursday, barely four hours after Trump tweeted attacks against MSNBC cable host Mika Brzezinski in crude, personal terms, Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., the chief sponsor of the bill, sent out an email to his colleagues, urging them to get behind the measure, writing it was of “enduring importance to the security of our nation.”

“In case of emergency, break glass,” Raskin told Yahoo News in an interview. “If you look at the record of things that have happened since January, it is truly a bizarre litany of events and outbursts.” Asked if Trump’s latest tweets attacking Brzezinski and her co-host Joe Scarborough — which were roundly condemned by members of both parties as beneath the dignity of his office — strengthened the grounds for invoking the 25th Amendment, Raskin replied: “I assume every human being is allowed one or two errant and seemingly deranged tweets. The question is whether you have a sustained pattern of behavior that indicates something is seriously wrong.” After Trump’s Thursday morning tweets, three more Democrats signed on to Raskin’s bill, his office said Friday. (Brzezinski and Scarborough’s response to Trump’s tweets ran in today’s Washington Post under the headline, “The President is not well.” White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders defended Trump’s tweets Thursday, saying he “fights fire with fire.”)

Quartz Media Discovers That Infowars And Goop Sell The Same Merchandise

There are two Americas, we’ve been told.

There’s Duck Dynasty America and Modern Family America. There’s “gosh” America and “dope” America. Sometimes, though, Americans unite around a common idea. Like the healing powers of eleuthero root, cordyceps mushrooms, and “nascent iodine.”

Near the end of a profile of Amanda Chantal Bacon, founder of the “wellness” brand Moon Juice, the New York Times Magazine noted that many of the alternative-medicine ingredients in her products are sold—with very different branding—on the Infowars store. That’s the site run by Alex Jones, the radio show host and conspiracy theorist who has said that both the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School and the Boston Marathon bombing were staged. Moon Juice is frequently recommended by Gwyneth Paltrow’s wellness blog, Goop; it’s a favorite of Hollywood celebrities and others who can afford things like $25 “activated cashews.” Infowars, on the other hand, is a dark corner of the American right, heavy on guns, light on government intervention, and still very mad at Obama.

We at Quartz have created a compendium, from Ashwagandha to zizyphus, of the magical healing ingredients both sides of the political spectrum are buying, and how they are presented to each. We looked at the ingredients used in products sold on the Infowars store, and compared them to products on the wellness shops Moon Juice and Goop. All make similar claims about the health benefits of these ingredients, but what gets called “Super Male Vitality” by Infowars is branded as “Sex Dust” by Moon Juice.

I love this so much!

Top 10 Conservative Idiots #3-4: Everybodys Lawyering Up For The Weekend Edition

Top 10 Conservative Idiots #3-4: Everybody’s Lawyering Up For The Weekend Edition

Welcome back to the Top 10 Conservative Idiots! TTCI is on your side! We are back everybody! Yeah! You know there’s a right time and a place for everything. Don’t wear a Batman costume to a wedding or a funeral, that’s one we can all agree on, right? Don’t be a 40 year old man using the word “Amazeballs” unless you’re Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool 3. Deadpool gets a pass. Don't drink canned wine at your own intervention. Don’t get arrested and think that a Monopoly “Get Out Of Jail Free” card is an actual get out of jail free card. That happened. Don’t google search “Rick Perry eating a hot dog in front of a painting”. Yes, really, don’t do that. I’m warning you – do not do that. And one thing I think we can all agree on – especially don’t carry weapons loaded with live ammunition around endangered species. Yeah that’s a thing – gun nuts are apparently defying a ban on guns in the zoo by well, you guessed it – carrying actual loaded guns into a zoo. Can we show that?

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Yeah we live in a world where gun rights advocates want to carry guns in zoos. I mean seriously that’s a thing that exists right now. This is why we can’t have nice things people! Don’t take your giant shotguns into a zoo where endangered species are present. Do you get that? Maybe you don’t. There’s a time and place for everything and guns in zoos should not be allowed under any circumstances. And why do we need “gun rights groups”? Guns have more rights than people do! We have to explore that for “How Is This Still A Thing” in a future edition. OK enough of the intro. We got a lot of idiocy to cover. But first we have to play John Oliver’s discussion of Vaccines and anti-vaccination bullshit:

God, where do we begin this week? You know we’re off next week because it’s the July 4th holiday but we’ll be back on the 12th and tearing into the GOP’s madness. So with that in mind the number one slot of this week’s edition is going to Mitch McConnell (1). So the details of their secret healthcare bill have been released, and if you guessed it robs from the poor to give to the rich, you are correct! Taking the 2nd slot is Nancy Pelosi Slammers (2) because in the wake of the GA-06 loss, people are quick to point fingers but we’re going to defend Pelosi and turn the tables on those playing the blame game. In the 3rd and 4th slots is President Donald Trump of course. In the third slot we’re going to talk more about his insane health care proposal and how Trump (3) doesn’t give a shit. Meanwhile in the 4th slot is all about Trump golfing. Yes, he spent the last weekend golfing. Again. But did you know that he’s a colossal dick on the golf course? And why are we not surprised? Taking the fifth slot this week is the Alt Right (5). Who loves to hate more than the Alt Right does? This week was a banner week for them – there was a protest in Washington DC that nobody paid attention to, the Oath Keepers gave a very poorly attended speech, and Mike Cernovich got caught paying protestors. Seated at number 6 this week , we’ve got a new installment of “How Is This Still A Thing” and we’re going to ask “Project Veritas – How Is This Still A Thing?”. In case you didn’t see James O’Keefe’s (6) latest “victory” in the right’s war on liberalism. In the number 7 slot, we’ve got to talk about Dennis Rodman. You know he’s our North Korean diplomat, right? Well, it’s about as batshit crazy as you might think it is, and it’s even more bizarre when he’s back here at home. Taking the number 8 seed is Bill Cosby (8), and in the last week he has done some crazy stuff, but none as much as what he has announced this week! In the number 9 (NEIN!!!!!) slot we’re going to have yet another installment of “I Need A Drink”, and this time we’re going to the Yukon to tell you the tale of how the famous toe used in the legendary sourtoe cocktail was stolen. We talked about this in the intro last week, but it’s way crazier than you would think, and yes, there will be plenty of Big Lebowski references to go around! Finally this week, we have the next destination of our Top 10 Conservative Idiots World Tour 2017! This week, grab your pints of Guiness as we’re going to Ireland! So this might be one of the more interesting entries on the world tour because Ireland’s feuding neighbors Northern Ireland are the missing piece of the Brexit puzzle, and that could get really messy. Right. Plus this week – we’re capping off our LGBT Pride month celebration with a band that is a huge friend to the LGBT community that will be a mystery! Who is it? Well you’ll have to stay tuned to find out! Enjoy! And as always don’t forget the key!

Mitch McConnell
[br]

Right now, the Trump administration is *DESPERATELY* trying to get anything passed, and his controversial plan to repeal and replace Obamacare with something better has hit quite the snag and it’s beginning to unravel very quickly. And caught in the middle is Senate Majority Leader and guy who kind of looks like a cartoon turtle, Mitch McConnell.

Senate Republican's health-care reform bill is worse than the House version, Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp told CNBC on Monday.

The North Dakota senator said the GOP health bill is not an Obamacare replacement but "entitlement reform." Nothing in the new bill "adds up," she said.

"You have to look at it from a mile high and they're trying to tell you we're going to keep coverage the same, no one's going to get hurt, and we're going to take billions of dollars out of health care," Heitkamp said on "Squawk Box."

"Once it's parsed and people have a chance to look at it, it is only going to get more difficult," she added.

At least five Republican senators have announced public opposition to the Senate GOP plan as of Monday morning, with some claiming the bill does nothing to deal with rising health-care costs. To assure passage, Republicans cannot lose more than two GOP votes.

But his secret health care bill should have probably stayed secret:

WASHINGTON — Senate Republican leaders scrambled Sunday to rally support for their health care bill as opposition continued to build inside and outside Congress, and as several Republican senators questioned whether it would be approved this week.

President Trump expressed confidence that the bill to repeal the guts of the Affordable Care Act would pass.

“Health care is a very, very tough thing to get,” Mr. Trump said in an interview shown Sunday on Fox News. “But I think we’re going to get it. We don’t have too much of a choice because the alternative is the dead carcass of Obamacare.”

With Democrats solidly opposed to the legislation, Senate Republicans must find the votes from within. They can afford to lose only two votes, but five Republican senators have announced that they cannot support the health care bill as drafted, and others have expressed concerns.

And Mitch McConnell is definitely letting the evil flow through him this week, because, as soon as people found out about the details of the bill, there was a protest involving disabled people outside McConnell’s office – and in true 1984 fashion – they were forcibly removed. I mean really, how big of a dick do you have to be to remove people from their wheelchairs?

U.S. Capitol Police forcibly removed demonstrators and disability advocates — some of whom were in wheelchairs — protesting the Senate's proposed health care bill outside of Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's office Thursday.

Capitol Police said they arrested 43 protesters for refusing to end the demonstration.

Organized by ADAPT, a disability rights organization, the protest targeted the bill's significant cuts to Medicaid for low-income Americans.

"No cuts to Medicaid, save our liberties," the protesters chanted. One protester who was in a wheelchair held a sign reading "life and liberty 4 disabled Americans."

He honestly couldn’t be more evil than he was this week. I mean the healthcare bill right now is a bigger threat to America than ISIS is. Terror attacks are swift and effective, this has the potential to kill millions in the long run, and it will make things infinitely worse. And if you can guess who profits – if you guessed the Koch Bros, the Mercers, and every other batshit crazy, evil right wing billionaire profits – you are correct!

Washington (CNN)The closely guarded Senate health care bill written entirely behind closed doors finally became public Thursday in a do-or-die moment for the Republican Party's winding efforts to repeal Obamacare.

The unveiling of the 142-page bill marks the first time that the majority of senators get a look at the plan to overhaul America's health care system. With Majority Leader Mitch McConnell pressing ahead for a vote next week, senators now only have a handful of days to decide whether to support or vote against the bill.

Four conservative Republican senators -- Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Ron Johnson and Mike Lee -- said they opposed the current version. And key votes such as Sens. Dean Heller and Susan Collins have also withheld support.

You know it’s an epic fail when Mitch’s fellow Kentucky senator Rand Paul is opposed to it! I mean shit, that guy will approve anything if a dem is opposed to it! But Mitch is going to have to do some serious ass kissing if he’s going to get this bill passed. Where’s my popcorn and butter at? It will be fun watching him grovel!

Washington (CNN)The math isn't there yet for Mitch McConnell.

Within hours of the Senate majority leader unveiling a long-anticipated health care bill on Thursday, four of his Republican colleagues were quick to put a damper on things: "We are not ready to vote for this bill," the group said in a joint statement.

The swift rejection may be a negotiating ploy, but the public nature of it is a reminder for McConnell of the deep reservations running through his own conference on a proposal that conservatives do not believe goes far enough to repeal Obamacare -- and the monumental challenge that lies ahead as he looks for 50 "yes" votes.

Over the next few days, McConnell needs to determine what concessions he can make to sway at least two of the four conservative senators -- but do so without losing support from the more moderate wing of the Senate, some of whom face tough re-elections next year.

Nancy Pelosi Slammers
[br]

Let's face it guys - this was a particularly lousy month to be a liberal. You had Greg Gianforte body slamming his way into Congress. You had the Steve Scalise shooting by a Bernie Sanders supporter who voiced strong liberal views. You had Sarah Huckabee Sanders declaring war on CNN by drowning out a reporter and playing a slandering video obtained under really shady circumstances. Sean Spicer shut off the cameras in the WH press briefing room, though something tells me this sketch won't be the last time anyone connected to the Trump administration is recorded by a sketch artist. Thank you!

But most importantly you had the Georgia 6th loss of John Ossoff to Karen Handel, and now the blame is being placed on Nancy Pelosi. But we must power through it damn it! Let's look ahead, not backward. And that goes for you, Nancy Pelosi Slammers! Nancy Pelosi Slammers sounds like a side dish at a political themed chain restaurant doesn’t it? Add a side of Nancy Pelosi Slammers to your entrée for only $4.99! Well there’s a movement afoot! No, not in the conservative world, in the liberal world! In case you’re living under a rock, democrats lost their 4th – yes – 4th special election. So this has us liberals scratching our heads, and the MAGA people gloating, but you know what? I say let the MAGA idiots gloat, because they’ll have to do this again in a year and it’s going to be a conservative blood bath in the election if this trend continues:

Let me share a few thoughts about tonight’s results out of Georgia’s 6th district in which Republican Karen Handel has now been projected as the winner.

First, there’s no question and there should be no denying that this is a very disappointing loss. It is a very Republican district. It was vacated by HHS Secretary Tom Price who has been a key architect of Trumpcare, which is now readying to scythe its way through the tens of millions of Americans who gained coverage from Obamacare. It was even the seat once held by Newt Gingrich. Taking it from the GOP would have been a big victory both substantively and symbolically. It would also have sent a clear signal that the GOP’s House majority is living on borrowed time.

All this being said, this is a heavily Republican district and Republicans just barely held on to the seat. Yes, Democrats gave it everything they had, with small donors from around the country pouring money into the race. But Republican SuperPacs poured millions into the race too. In the last three elections, Tom Price won this seat by 65%, 66% and 62%. A significant part of those almost 2 to 1 margins was due to the fact that Democrats fielded only nominal candidates who raised little or no money. But these are chicken and egg type questions. It is precisely because this is a strongly Republican district that Price drew no serious contenders. A better measure are the recent presidential results. There John McCain won the district by 62% and Mitt Romney won it by 61%. To use yet another measure, 538 rates it a +9.5 Republican district, which means it’s 9.5 percentage points more GOP than the country as a whole.

Say whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? I mean that was a huge gain in a district where the democrats have lost 6 of the last 7 elections! Are we doing something right or are the republicans doing everything wrong? I would say it’s a bit of column A, a little of column B. But why is Nancy Pelosi suddenly under attack from all angles? Let’s explore this a bit further.

After the special elections in Georgia and South Carolina, it’s time for the Republicans to panic. The explanation is simple. Two words. Speaker Pelosi.

Both House seats were deep in the red. The Montana and Kansas seats were, too. For Republicans, there can be no comfort in knowing that the Democrats didn’t flip any of the seats from red to blue. The trend to blue is undeniable and if it holds, or even if it weakens slightly, a slew of swing districts will move into the Democratic column in the midterm election.

A Democratic House majority would make Trump, or any other Republican, a lame Duck for the rest of his term. The idea of Paul Ryan handing the gavel back to Nancy Pelosi must be driving the Republicans to the edge. The Committee Chairs would pass to the Democrats as well.

That’s why you see a sudden outburst of emotion about Pelosi. She was always a favorite obsession of Right-wingers. Compare the legislation that the House passed by this date in 2009 with the current session. Pelosi gets the job done.

What the Republicans need is a compelling campaign theme for 2018. For now, at least, it seems like Pelosi’s age is it for them. It should be common sense that this isn’t a good look. It wasn’t four years ago and it isn’t now.

Paul Ryan is suddenly like:

Thank you! Yes, the thought that Nancy Pelosi could be the speaker of the house again is something that is currently terrifying the shit out of the conservatives! But you know in the resistance Nancy Pelosi is someone we need to have, and have now.

If you think the Democrats are pure of heart, I have a bridge to sell you. President Donald Trump is, as I take delight in repeating as often as I can, a lying, thieving, philandering sadist, and the Democrats do come off as saints by comparison. But let’s not fool ourselves. The people arguing with me about what to do with the white working class are the same people who’d argue, rightly, that soft racism and casual sexism are everywhere, even among the ranks of the Democratic Party.

They are right, and it’s this subliminal bigotry that’s keeping us from seeing what’s happening. Fact is, the Democrats are doing remarkable well, all things considered. They are united. They have blocked Trump where they can. They exploited and exposed his weakness and the disarray of the Republicans to extract major concessions.

But we can’t see this because we are not giving credit to the one person doing the most, and we are not giving her credit, because she’s a woman. That’s what I mean when I say subliminal bigotry is preventing us from seeing. That’s what I mean when I say the Democratic Party is not pure of heart. Our sin is finding us out.

But the in-fighting among the democratic party just doesn’t stop. People, we can’t stop fighting if we’re going to defeat Trump, McConnell, and the Russian cabal! There’s got to be more that we can do to resist than this, am I right? Well, Tim Ryan definitely isn’t helping things!

During his interview with CNN, Tim Ryan also decided to lambaste his former mentor Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who has been one of the strongest, most persistent, resilient and relentless forces against Donald Trump, his cronies and the self-serving GOP. Tim Ryan may be able to justify his sour grapes for Pelosi even though when he arrived in Washington, she hooked him up with a slot on the House Democratic Steering Committee which he used to advance his career. But now she’s hurt his feelings. She crushed him in last November’s internal Democratic Party House Leader bid.

When Don Lemon asked Tim Ryan if he thought Pelosi was more toxic than Trump, Ryan actually said yes.

“The honest answer (opposed to when he’s giving a dishonest answer) is, in some areas of the country, yes, she is.”

Given her integrity and the great respect Pelosi has earned from her colleagues over years in office, Ryan’s statement couldn’t have been more repulsive. For Ryan to even compare Leader Pelosi to a lying, scamming, hateful, tax-evading thug and sexual predator like Trump—is incredulous. And then to say she’s more toxic than Trump, on any level, is outrageous, especially coming from a Democratic lawmaker. You see, Tim Ryan thinks he could do a better job than Pelosi even though Republicans have the majority in the House, Senate, Oval Office and now Supreme Court. Ryan seems to think he has the magic answer when in reality—no Democratic leader has a fair shot under current circumstances.

Donald Trump
[br]

Before we talk more about the Trumpcare bill, we have to point out exactly how fake Trump is. So Trump has posted this cover of Time Magazine in all of his golf course restaurants.

The framed copy of Time Magazine was hung up in at least four of President Trump’s golf clubs, from South Florida to Scotland. Filling the entire cover was a photo of Donald Trump.

“Donald Trump: The ‘Apprentice’ is a television smash!” the big headline said. Above the Time nameplate, there was another headline in all caps: “TRUMP IS HITTING ON ALL FRONTS . . . EVEN TV!”

This cover — dated March 1, 2009 — looks like an impressive memento from Trump’s pre-presidential career. To club members eating lunch, or golfers waiting for a pro-shop purchase, it seemed to be a signal that Trump had always been a man who mattered. Even when he was just a reality-TV star, Trump was the kind of star who got a cover story in Time. But that wasn’t true. The Time cover is a fake.

There was no March 1, 2009, issue of Time Magazine. And there was no issue at all in 2009 that had Trump on the cover.
In fact, the cover on display at Trump’s clubs, observed recently by a reporter visiting one of the properties, contains several small but telling mistakes. Its red border is skinnier than that of a genuine Time cover, and, unlike the real thing, there is no thin white border next to the red. The Trump cover’s secondary headlines are stacked on the right side — on a real Time cover, they would go across the top.

"I need all the positive publicity I can get, OK? Any negative publicity will not be allowed to stand at Trump brand properties. I use only the best publicity, OK?". And by the way - the actual Time Magazine from that week had Kate Winslet on the cover. Can we show that?

So who exactly will Trump’s insane healthcare bill benefit? It ain’t us. In fact if you guessed it will benefit the top 1% of 1%, you are correct! I mean it’s almost incredible how much the billionaires are going to benefit from this plan. Right now – if passed, the Koch sponsored healthcare bill could possibly kill millions of Americans. This means that the Heritage Foundation is a terrorist organization. They’re seriously a bigger threat to America currently, than Isis is.

SENATE REPUBLICAN leaders released on Thursday a draft health-care bill, supposedly designed to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. It includes a range of mostly unwise and ungenerous changes to the nation’s health-care system, but it might, if enacted, end up as mostly a massive, unpaid-for tax cut for wealthy people and industries with pull on Capitol Hill.

The bill proposes rolling back nearly all of the taxes that supported Obamacare’s health-care coverage expansion, on everything from high wages and investment income to medical devices and tanning services. It would in theory retain the “Cadillac tax” on expensive insurance plans, which is meant to discourage taxpayer-funded overspending on health care, but would delay its implementation for nearly another decade. Though the scorekeepers at the Congressional Budget Office will count the revenue the Cadillac tax would eventually raise, it is a good bet the federal government will never see any of that money. The tax has already been delayed once, and Congress has shown little interest in restraining health-care costs when doing so poses any threat to middle-class benefits.

Yeah BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! So the tax plan is literally a reverse Robin Hood. I mean really, how much fucking money do those billionaires need? And what are they planning to do with it? Start their own space program? As Lewis Black said, you know you could have a solid gold toilet, you’re still going to take a dump in it. But here’s what they really think as evidenced by one Koch donor:

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — To Al Hartman, President Trump is a heaven-sent leader, expertly carrying out a conservative agenda to roll back regulations and limit the size and scope of government.

“He’s working right out of the Heritage playbook,” said Hartman, a Houston real-estate executive, referring to the conservative Washington think tank. “God gave us one more chance by allowing him to be in office.”

To Liz Wright of Denver, Trump is an imperfect vehicle for implementing the small-government policies she seeks. “He doesn’t have a consistent governing philosophy,” said Wright, who voted for Libertarian presidential contender Gary Johnson last November.

Yet, Wright and Hartman, both donors to the conservative policy and political network tied to billionaire industrialist Charles Koch, view Trump’s presidency and the Republican majority in the Congress as their best hope of passing an overhaul of the tax code, repealing the Affordable Care Act and enacting other priorities dear to the network’s wealthy conservatives.

But switching subjects, we have to talk about how Trump is lawyering up. That’s the big thing don’t you know! I mean all the cool kids are doing it! I mean come on, even Trump’s own attorneys are hiring their own attorneys! It’s like a really fucked up Russian doll. Or maybe Lawyer-ception. A lawyer within a lawyer within a lawyer.

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump's longtime attorney and adviser Michael Cohen has hired a lawyer to represent him in the investigations into Russian meddling in the 2016 election, Cohen told CNN on Friday.

Cohen, who serves as Trump's personal attorney, hired Stephen Ryan, a partner at the DC-based law firm McDermott, Will and Emery, to handle inquiries related to the investigations into Russian meddling in the election. News of the hire comes two weeks after Cohen was subpoenaed by the House intelligence committee as part of the committee's probe into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

Lawyer up! Everybody's lawyering up! All the cool kids are doing it! Even Bernie Sanders is lawyering up for... reasons. Somehow I don’t think “Everybody’s Lawyering Up For The Weekend” has the same ring to it. Everybody’s lawyering up for the weekend… everybody needs a new trial. But Trump might need a lawyer just to monitor his Twitter account. I mean holy shit, he must have eaten something rotten at the Trump golf course this weekend because he was on a warpath.

President Donald Trump has accused former President Barack Obama of colluding with Russia to hurt Hillary Clinton’s chances to win the presidency in 2016.

In a series of Monday morning tweets, Trump accused Obama of doing “NOTHING” about Russia’s efforts to influence the 2016 presidential election, and suggested that he’s the one who should be investigated for collusion.

“The reason that President Obama did NOTHING about Russia after being notified by the CIA of meddling is that he expected Clinton would win and did not want to ‘rock the boat,'” Trump wrote. “He didn’t ‘choke,’ he colluded or obstructed, and it did the Dems and Crooked Hillary no good.”

Does this mean he colluded with Russia? Time to lawyer up!!! And you know what? We here at the Top 10 have teamed up to give everyone... their own personal trial lawyer. You never know when you might need one! You get a trial lawyer! And you get a trial lawyer! And you get one! And you get one! And you get one! Everybody gets a trial lawyer! Everybody gets a trial lawyer! Everybody gets a trial lawyer!

Donald Trump
[br]

Sigh… another weekend, another week Trump spent at a Trump branded property. On the American tax payer dime. As if we needed any further proof that Trump doesn’t give a fuck.

President Trump traveled Saturday to his Virginia golf club, but the White House did not confirm whether he will be golfing there. He is reportedly taking meetings and eating lunch.

Trump’s motorcade left the White House Saturday morning for an unannounced destination. A group of people wearing golf attire got into the lead car of the motorcade, according to pool reports. Photos later surfaced on Twitter showing Trump’s motorcade arriving at Trump National Golf Club in Virginia.

Trump reportedly won’t be playing golf during his visit, but the visit does mark the 30th day Trump has visited one of his golf courses since he took office, according to an NBC News tracker. There is also a golf tournament taking place at the club on Saturday, according to the White House press pool report.

Is this what Trump means by MAGA? Millionaire asshole golfing again? Does he only think the presidency is a 9 to 5 job? Well aside from spending most of his weekends indulging in his favorite hobby, Trump is also proving he’s an asshole while doing it!

As president of the United States, Donald Trump is used to doing pretty well anything he wants.

It would seem that attitude extends to the golf course, where he was filmed committing one of the worst golfing etiquette atrocities earlier this month.

In the video, the leader of the free world can be seen driving a golf cart across a green at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

Two of his playing partners deposit clubs into their bags in the back of the cart before Trump, wearing one of those horrendous red "Make America Great Again" hats, parks up off the green.

Yeah so Trump commits an epic golf course fail. How epic of a fail was it? Well, we topped it by bringing the Top 10 crew out on the golf course. Here’s what happened when we tried it:

Needless to say we’re not allowed to golf at that particular course anymore! But why is Trump’s staff being dead silent on whether or not president Lard Ass spends his weekends on a golf cart or not? It’s very telling!

Washington (CNN)If a president golfs in private -- and the White House refuses to comment -- did it ever really happen?
Apparently so.
President Donald Trump hit the links at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminsiter, New Jersey, over the June 10-11 weekend, according to a golfer who also played the course and took a video of the President.

That video is the only reason the public knows Trump was golfing because White House aides, seemingly to obscure whether the President, who was once critical about another president playing golf, declined to say.

But it’s not fake news, folks! This is very real! By the way, for those of you keeping score at home, this is Trump’s 31st day on the golf course.

Donald Trump has spent a 30th day of his presidency visiting one of his golf courses, although it is believed he was there for lunch and meetings rather than a round of golf.

The visit to Trump National Potomac in Virginia marks the 43rd day - according to an NBC tracker - that President has spent at one of his properties during his term. The latest visit to the Potomac course is believed to be Mr Trump's ninth in that time.

Mr Trump’s motorcade left the White House Saturday morning for an unannounced destination, eventually arriving at the course. he left around three hours later with no official word from the White on his activities.

Even golf critics are scratching their heads wondering what Trump was thinking with his latest faux pas – when even golfers are pissed off, you know they’re pissed off!

The distinguished editorial board at Cheap Seats maintains a nonpartisan policy and tries to keep politics out of sports. But on behalf of 25 million golfers in the United States, we must ask the president one thing.

What the heck were you thinking?

Video leaked last week of President Trump driving his golf cart onto a green. You didn't have to be a CNN anchor to be outraged.

Golf has a lot of arcane rules, but one that everybody understands is that you don't drive a 700-pound golf cart onto the delicate turf of a green.

I like that one! And in case you’re wondering if Trump is as big of a dick on the golf course, as he is in real life, well, he’s both! And he couldn’t possibly be any more of a dick than he is here, channeling his inner Homer Simpson:

By the latest count, President Donald Trump has gone golfing 31 times since taking office in January.

Number 31 occurred at Trump National Golf Club in Virginia on the morning of June 25, where the president hurried through 18 holes by "playing though" other golfers, reports the Daily Mail.

"My dad went golfing today at Mr. Trump's northern Va club and the president asked if he could play through," Laura Roman wrote, along with a photograph showing 10 carts pulled off to the side of a hole.

As those familiar with golf are aware, it is customary for a larger party of golfers to allow a smaller party to cut ahead of them on the course -- or, perhaps, if the other party includes the president of the United States.

The Alt Right
[br]

Protesting. That thing you do when you play Angry Birds and you spend over an hour trying to get 3 stars on level 16-3, can’t do it, spend $50 on in-app purchases, and finally wind up throwing your phone across the room. That’s protest. Here is what is not a protest. So on Saturday, while everyone was paying attention to the Pride marches, Infowars ironically sponsored a “rally to end political violence”. Which is funny when you think about it, because Alex Jones is responsible for some of the most violent political hate speech around. Just ask the victims of Sandy Hook. So what happened on Saturday? Well this.

Conservative activists led rallies in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, protesting the recent list of celebrities who have made violent jokes about President Trump, Reuters reported.

According to the news wire, a pair of rallies took place. At one event, the protesters faced off with almost as many counter-protesters on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

Richard Spencer, a self-described white nationalist and member of the "alt-right" movement, drew a larger crowd of about 100 supporters to the rally at the Lincoln Memorial, which memorializes a president who is associated with ending slavery in the country.

Spencer reportedly told journalists before the rally that he is disappointed with President Trump's administration so far and is waiting for the White House to implement some of the policies Trump promised while campaigning.

So if a bunch of Infowars trolls hold a rally and nobody cares about it, did it really happen? Thank you! Do I really need to point out the irony of Richard Spencer holding an anti-violence rally? Richard Spencer – the same asshole who led an army of white supremacists through a small town in Montana carrying AK-47s? And then he forgot to file a permit? Well let’s look at some of the winners in this march:

Ooh, look at how large that crowd is! There must be... 10s of people!

And do I also need to point out the irony of someone calling for George Soros being thrown in a gas chamber at a rally where you’re supposed to end political violence? Are you serious? And when the Oath Keepers are on your side, you don’t want to be right:

As if the alt right couldn’t be any more full of fail, this week, a major setback to their movement was just released. Remember last week when I talked about the alt righters who stormed the Julius Caesar play and started making Hitler references? Well, guess what? It turns out they were paid by Mike Cernovich. Why don’t we get paid by Mike Cernovich? What are we missing?

You may have mocked claims about the existence of paid protesters as just another lie from the right. As it turns out, at least on this one issue, they’re actually telling the truth. The problem is, the right neglected to mention those paid protesters are part of the right-wing apparatus.

The story starts last week, when the right wing decided to aim its selective outrage at a free staging of Shakespeare’s play “Julius Caesar” held in New York City’s Central Park. Mike Cernovich, a self-described member of the alt-right who thinks the U.S. should give immigrants IQ tests, put up a YouTube video in which he offered cash to any protesters willing to disrupt the play for pay.

“I’ll give up to 10 people $1,000,” Cernovich says in the footage. “I need you to get up with either a ‘CNN is ISIS’ or ‘Bill Clinton’s a rapist’ or ‘The media is terrorism’ . And if you’re able to get up and be escorted out by security, then I will give you $1,000.”

In other words, Cernovich was actively and openly looking to recruit paid protesters. You know how conservatives made up that ridiculous myth about George Soros sending checks to liberals who march in protests? This is the real version of that, only sponsored by Cernovich.

And this isn’t the first time Cernovich got caught paying protestors. Remember that UC Berkeley rally that went to shit? Turns out – he paid them as well!

Did right-wing media troll and all-around terrible person Mike Cernovich just do the exact thing he’s been accusing financier George Soros of doing for months? Did Cernovich literally pay protesters to attend an event?

Right-wingers have been harping on the “paid protester” non-issue since the start of the 2016 campaign season. Donald Trump regularly accused those who protested against him of being “paid protesters,” with no evidence to back up his wild claims. Yet he was the one who literally paid actors to show up at Trump Tower to cheer him on the day he announced he was running for president.

Trump’s supporters, if anything, have been even more eager to label their opponents as “paid protesters” and “shills,” often accusing financier George Soros by name as being the secret Mr. Moneybags behind it all. During the 2016 campaign, Trump superfan Cernovich was quick to cry foul any time anyone took to the streets (or to Twitter) to say anything bad about Trump — or about Cernovich himself — with absolutely no evidence beyond his own imagination.
http://www.wehuntedthemammoth.com/2017/04/28/mike-cernovich-the-soros-of-the-far-right/ [/div

But since the right loves to point out that George Soros is paying protestors since the beginning, guess what? You’re wrong! I wish we got paid for doing this, but apparently you guys do and are loving it. And Mike Cernovich isn’t the only one paying protestors – Alex Jones is getting into the game as well! And hey, it’s free advertising for them!

Infowars, the alt-right media outlet that claims the anti-Trump protest movement is funded by George Soros and other sinister globalists, launched a contest this week that rewards Alex Jones fans $1,000 for donning a t-shirt or sign that says “CNN is ISIS” on TV.

“We are launching a new contest to stand up to the Left’s calls for violence against the president and against other Americans for simply exercising their right to promote Americana,” a blog post announcing the contest said. “Infowars is launching a new $200,000 contest to expose CNN’s Kathy Griffin and mainstream media’s call for violence. We will expose the media’s terrorist campaign.”

Taking a page out of the Westboro Baptist Church playbook, Jones, the founder of Infowars, has gone through great lengths to promote his ongoing battle with the establishment media.

“We encourage everyone to not just hold up signs to point out that CNN is ISIS and that MSM are terrorists, but to also use this campaign as an example to point out when mainstream media and entertainment writers, editors and hosts are calling for violence against Trump and against his supporters for simply only trying to make America great again,” the Infowars website said.

James O’Keefe
[br]

Time once again to ask:

This week: Project Veritas. How is this still a thing? So when it turns out that both sides are guilty of, what President Trump calls “FAKE NEWS”… who do you trust? Is the correct answer to trust no one, especially when that “no one” might be secretly videotaping you with microwaves? Well, James O’Keefe, the leader of Project Vertias, whose previous credits include breaking and entering, unlawful snooping, and more unlawful snooping. Here’s some more detail on what happened.

The story, which reported that Congress was investigating a "Russian investment fund with ties to Trump officials," cited a single anonymous source.

These types of stories are typically reviewed by several departments within CNN -- including fact-checkers, journalism standards experts and lawyers -- before publication.

This breakdown in editorial workflow disturbed the CNN executives who learned about it.

In a staff meeting Monday afternoon, investigative unit members were told that the retraction did not mean the facts of the story were necessarily wrong. Rather, it meant that "the story wasn't solid enough to publish as-is," one of the people briefed on the investigation said.

The reporting about the Russian investment fund and Trump officials was not relayed on CNN's television channels, but it was published on the web and shared on social media.

On Friday, one of the people named in the story, Trump ally Anthony Scaramucci, disputed Frank's reporting and said, "I did nothing wrong."

Thank you Trumpy. Except this is not fake news – this is real news. And in case you’re wondering what James O’Keefe and Project Veritas have to do with this, here’s what happened.

In a video released overnight by 'Project Veritas' founder James O'Keefe, CNN producer John Bonifield is caught on film admitting that the network's constant coverage of the Trump-Russia narrative is "mostly bullshit" and "the president is probably right to say [CNN] is witch-hunting [him]."

He also noted the story is "good for business."

"I haven’t seen any good enough evidence to show that the President committed a crime," he said. "I just feel like they don’t really have it but they want to keep digging. And so I think the President is probably right to say, like, look you are witch hunting me. You have no smoking gun, you have no real proof."

He also said: "It’s a business, people are like the media has an ethical phssssss…All the nice cutesy little ethics that used to get talked about in journalism school you’re just like, that’s adorable. That’s adorable. This is a business."

Yeah I know it’s a right wing site, but you know what else is bullshit? Project Veritas. Apparently this isn’t the only time they’ve been hit with multiple lawsuits over illegal videotaping. There was this incident from Kansas back in 2009 when a teacher was caught by them:

A Wichita teachers union president who was the focus of a hidden-camera video in which he said he threatened a student with physical violence has filed a federal lawsuit against the outlets that created and published the video.

Steve Wentz, president of United Teachers of Wichita, filed a 66-page lawsuit in the U.S. District Court’s Middle District of Florida on Friday against Project Veritas and Breitbart News, citing an undercover video that he says damaged his and other teachers’ reputations.

“It’s a lie, and it is something that needs to be addressed,” Wentz said Monday.

“When you have people like this that take your words and twist them and edit videos and accuse you of onerous things … this type of vitriol needs to be addressed,” he said. “This is not journalism.”

Last summer, a video published online by Project Veritas featured footage of Wentz at a hotel bar during a conference in Orlando, Fla., in 2015.

The video and an accompanying article subsequently were published on Breitbart.co

But there’s more to this story than you would imagine. Remember our paid protestor Laura Loomer? Well, she was an employee of Project Veritas!

On Friday morning, Laura Loomer woke up early and took a Metro-North train from West Harrison, New York, where she lives, to Manhattan. She made her way to Central Park and secured a second-row ticket to that night’s performance of the Public Theatre’s production of “Julius Caesar.” Then she walked around the Upper East Side for a few hours, stopping to get her nails done (color selection: Blue My Mind). Loomer is twenty-four. During the 2016 Presidential campaign, she worked for Project Veritas, the right-wing sting operation run by James O’Keefe. Operating undercover, she performed various stunts—for example, on Election Day, she appeared at a polling station wearing a burqa and asked for a ballot under the name Huma Abedin. Two weeks ago, Loomer left Project Veritas for the Rebel, a video-heavy outlet based in Canada. (From its About Us page: “We don’t just report the news, we participate in it.”) After a few years of anonymous work, she was eager to find the spotlight.

Yes – Laura Loomer – our favorite paid protestor – was in fact part of undercover video taper Project Veritas. And this isn’t the first time they got caught trying to record CNN. In fact their first attempt to record CNN backfired on them bigly.

For a few days, Project Veritas founder and conservative activist James O'Keefe has been hyping the release of what he said were hundreds of hours of undercover audio recordings of employees at CNN.

Some staffers at CNN were legitimately alarmed that O'Keefe would be releasing tapes that could be embarrassing for the network. O'Keefe is known for his undercover video recordings, though questions over deceptive editing and concerns about the questionable tactics used to obtain those recordings have plagued some of his prior work. Before releasing the tapes Thursday, O'Keefe was featured on The Drudge Report and on Sean Hannity's radio show, where he previewed their release.

Instead, what O'Keefe released on Thursday landed with a dull thud in the media world. Though not all the hours of tapes have been made available for review, and damning recordings could still come out, O'Keefe made clear the audio he obtained is from 2009 and for the most part features lower-level staffers at the network.

But that’s not the only fail Project Veritas has had to endure lately. Yeah let the deplorables gloat over this one, they’re only making themselves look more foolish every time something like this happens. Sure, it’s only fake news right? Well, when fake news gets caught by someone making fake news, who can you trust? The answer is trust no one. Well, maybe trust us, at least! And then there was this from last year – and Project Veritas takes things so out of context that it’s near impossible to evaluate their validity.

The October 2016 releases weren’t Project Veritas’ first foray into the 2016 elections and the political climate of the day. In March 2016, O’Keefe infamously bungled an attempted “investigation” by failing to hang up his phone after calling a target (thereby exposing his plot to those whom he was trying to fool). A May 2016 New Yorker article about that aborted sting examined the forces behind Project Veritas and the diminishing impact of deceptive videos:

Many O’Keefe operations, however, have fallen flat, including his repeated efforts to prove that voter-identity fraud is pervasive. “It seems like most of the fraud O’Keefe uncovers he commits himself,” Richard Hasen, a professor of election law at the University of California, Irvine, says. A sting aimed at Hillary Clinton was considered especially feeble. Veritas operatives persuaded a staffer at a rally to accept a Canadian citizen’s money in exchange for a Hillary T-shirt — a petty violation of the ban on foreign political contributions. Brian Fallon, the communications director for the Clinton campaign, says, “Project Veritas has been repeatedly caught trying to commit fraud, falsify identities, and break campaign-finance law. It is not surprising, given that their founder has already been convicted for efforts like this.”

It may be that the shock value of such exposés is diminishing. A recent series of sting videos against Planned Parenthood, created by a group called the Center for Medical Progress, involved deceptions so devious — including an attempt by undercover operatives to buy fetal tissue — that the campaign backfired. Pro-choice activists united in anger at the sting’s perpetrators, and a Texas grand jury cleared Planned Parenthood of wrongdoing and indicted the C.M.P.

Project Veritas’ October 2016 election-related sting videos (embedded above) reveal tidbits of selectively and (likely deceptively edited) footage absent of any context in which to evaluate them. Unless his organization releases the footage in full, undertaking a fair assessment of their veracity is all but impossible.

So Project Veritas is one incredibly shaky organization that’s been hit with multiple lawsuits over the validity of their videos. And they just got caught with their pants down yet again this week. That’s enough to make you ask – Project Veritas:

Dennis Rodman
[br]

You know there’s probably a good reason why Dennis Rodman earned his Lakers nickname of “The Worm”. You know he’s trying to bridge the gap between America and North Korea. Does he really want to be America’s ambassador to North Korea? Is that a job that is really a thing? Here’s my favorite part of what Dennis Rodman said over his recent trip to North Korea:

Former professional basketball player Dennis Rodman spoke out in an exclusive interview with ABC News about his recent trip to North Korea, suggesting that he is partly responsible for the reclusive nation's release of American college student Otto Warmbier, who died last Monday, just days after being medically evacuated from a North Korean prison.

"I was just so happy to see the kid released," Rodman told "Good Morning America" co-anchor Michael Strahan of when he first learned of Warmbier's release. "Later that day, that's when we found out he was ill, no one knew that. We jumped up and down ... Some good things came of this trip."

Yeah… except Otto, um, died. Nothing really funny about that, and there’s certainly nothing funny about anything good coming from North Korea. What is good about North Korea exactly? The brutal tortures and kidnappings? The silencing of their people? An insane dictator with access to a nuclear arsenal and a really itchy trigger complex? But eh. The Worm takes care of his homies, don’t you know?

“I asked on behalf of Dennis for his release three times”.

He added: “I addressed …” Otto Warmbier. And I said to them, ‘we…would need his…you know, a release, some type of good faith, if we’re ever going to do some type of future sports relations.

They say they didn’t realize that Warmbier was essentially brain dead when he arrived back home in Ohio.

He was in a coma and died Monday.

North Korean officials sentenced Warmbier to 15 years of hard labor after he attempted to steal a propaganda poster from his hotel.

So if we extrapolate this – Trump asked Dennis Rodman for help in getting Otto Warmbier back home safely but he didn’t and now Rodman is asking us to honor “the good side” of North Korean insanity – when none really exists. Now there’s groups demanding that Rodman be kicked out of the Basketball Hall Of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Dennis Rodman’s defense of North Korean dictator and “friend for life” Kim Jong Un has inspired a U.S. human rights group to seek the former NBA great’s removal from the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

The Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation has filed a petition on change.org days after the death of American college student Otto Warmbier, who was released in a coma last week following 17 months of captivity in North Korea.

“Dennis Rodman’s complacency and coddling of Kim Jong Un romanticizes and makes light of how dangerous North Korea is to its own people and Americans who travel there,” the foundation’s executive director, Marion Smith, told USA Today. “Removing Rodman from the Hall of Fame will send a message that all Americans are united against this regime.”

I like that one! You know we love making fun of glorious dictator Kim Jong Un here at the Top 10. But Dennis Rodman is pulling an Alex Jones of sorts – by capitalizing on something that should otherwise be considered a tragedy! Yes, he’s selling t-shirts. Can we show that?

Just back from a mysterious trip to the communist Hermit Kingdom, Dennis Rodman is testing the limits of capitalism by hawking T-shirts promoting himself as “Ambassador Rodman.”

“I come in peace, get your limited T-shirt now,” he tweeted, linking to a sales page with a cartoon image of Rodman standing in front of a world map.

I like that one! Now if only he had a sense of humor! He’s much like Trump in that way! But here’s why Dennis Rodman, aka The Worm, is probably the last guy you should trust for international diplomacy. Seems he had a bit of an incident in the airport bathroom at Long Beach International this week:

He blasted "It's Been a While" on his mini-speaker the whole time.

Dennis Rodman was seen using a women's restroom at Long Beach airport Wednesday night and the whole episode was soundtracked by Staind's 2001 alt-rock hit "It's Been Awhile."

The basketball legend was caught on camera exiting the bathroom in a clip posted to TMZ. As the website reports, Rodman was blasting music on a mini-speaker, as if being Dennis Rodman doesn't already attract enough attention.

The episode apparently played out without issue, other than surprising a few women.

Bill Cosby
[br]

OK so Bill Cosby. I mean really… yeah. Fuck Bill Cosby. You know there’s a right time and a right place for everything. And then there’s a wrong time and a wrong place for everything. Like there’s no right time for Jaden Smith to wear a Batman costume when it’s not Halloween. I mean ever. And speaking of inappropriate things at inappropriate times, there’s Bill Cosby who did this last week.

Are you fucking kidding me? With as much shit as he’s in, he goes and does a Fat Albert impression as he’s walking into a courtroom for as many sexual assault accounts as he’s on?

Bill Cosby's sexual assault trial ended in a hung jury on Saturday because two holdouts refused to convict the 79-year-old comedian after 52 hours of tense deliberations, a juror told ABC News on Wednesday.

The juror, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the jury couldn't reach a consensus after deadlocking at 10-2 to convict Cosby on the first and third felony counts and 11-1 to acquit on the second count.

The two holdouts were "not moving, no matter what," the juror told the network.

The juror said the majority of jurors had initially wanted to acquit Cosby on all three counts of aggravated indecent assault.

Andrea Constand testified that Cosby drugged and molested her at his suburban Philadelphia home in 2004. Cosby said the encounter with the former director of women's basketball operations at his alma mater, Temple University, was consensual.

Yeah seriously… WTF. As if two jurors holding out couldn’t make this any worse, Bill Cosby goes on the offensive to do this. I mean seriously it would be like asking Alex Jones to teach an anger management class.

Less than a week after a judge declared a mistrial in the sexual assault case against Bill Cosby, the comedian's representatives say he intends to host a series of town halls about sexual assault and the legal system.

Cosby spokesman Andrew Wyatt told the TV show Good Day Alabama that the town halls could start as soon as next month and noted that the issues were particularly important for young athletes.

The proposed talks drew immediate criticism from organizations that work with survivors of sexual assault.

Wyatt said young people "need to know what they're facing when they're hanging out and partying." Here is his exchange with a WBRC Fox 6 News host:

Wyatt: "Mr. Cosby wants to get back to work. We are now planning town halls, and we're going to be coming to this city sometime in July."

Host: "Really? Like a town hall just to talk with people?"

Wyatt: "To talk to young people. Because this is bigger than Bill Cosby. This issue can affect any young person, especially young athletes of today. And they need to know what they're facing when they're hanging out and partying, when they're doing certain things that they shouldn't be doing. And it also affects, you know, married men [laughs]."

[div style="padding: 20px; background-color: #ffffff; border-radius: 10px; box-shadow: 0px 2px 4px 1px #aaa;"][div style="font-family: arial, helvetica; font-weight: bold; border-bottom: 1px dotted #999; padding-bottom: 8px;"]
The Missing Toe
[br]

It’s now time for another installment of:

Yes, why do I bring up The Big Lebowski, you might ask? Well we might need a White Russian or two to tell the tale of the missing toe in the Yukon. Yes, there really is a missing toe. Yes, there’s more to this story than you might think. Yes, this is crazier than you would expect. As I said last week, there’s a lot of strange dealings in the Great White North, the country better known as Canada. Specifically, the tiny Western Yukon city of Dawson City. Here’s more:

Police in Canada have launched an investigation after a patron at a Yukon bar allegedly stole the famed ingredient of their signature drink: a mummified human toe.

For more than 40 years the Downtown hotel in Dawson City has served up the sourtoe cocktail, a shot of whisky with a blackened toe – nail and all – bobbing inside. Those who manage to touch the gnarled, severed toe to their lips earn a certificate.

On Saturday a customer took it one step further, allegedly making off with the wrinkled digit after swallowing his drink. “We are furious,” said Terry Lee of the hotel. “Toes are very hard to come by.”

Wait, wait, wait. Lets’ stop there. “Toes are hard to come by”? Have you seen “The Big Lebowski”?

But here’s where it gets weird. There was apparently a plan to put this whole thing in motion from the get go.

The man had apparently boasted of his plans to steal the toe earlier in the evening. He later convinced a staff member to let him try the drink outside of the designated two-hour window known at the bar as toe time. “And this is how he pays her back,” Lee said in a news release. “What a lowlife.”

The tradition claims to trace its roots to the 1920s, when a rum runner preserved his frostbitten, amputated big toe in a jar of alcohol in his cabin. Fifty years later, the pickled toe was discovered by a Yukon native who brought it to the Downtown, where it became a celebrated ingredient in its drinks.

After Saturday’s theft, the hotel contacted the police and began offering a reward to anyone with information. “We fortunately have a couple of back-up toes, but we really need this one back,” said Lee.

It was the newest addition to their collection, donated by a man who had had to have his toe surgically removed. After curing it for six months in salt, the staff had only begun adding it to drinks this weekend, the hotel manager told the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. “This was our new toe, and it was a really good one,” said Geri Coulbourne.

Seriously! Dude, you literally just said “Toes are hard to come by!”. And now it says that you have a backup of toes??? And the one you had was – and I’m quoting directly – a really good one? Let’s continue – this is so batshit crazy I can’t even… how… who… what… why… where????

At least eight other toes have gone missing over the years, some stolen while others have been swallowed. The original toe belonging to the rum runner was accidentally swallowed by a miner after seven years at the hotel, giving rise to another tradition: the hotel’s constant search for toes.

“Got frostbite?” reads an advertisement on its website, which goes on to promise that those who donate toes will be “immortalised in the Sourtoe Hall of Fame”. The hotel said it had received 10 donated toes – big toes are preferred – over the years, including a few that were left to the establishment through wills.

Dude I need a drink. No, I don’t want a drink with a toe in it. Can someone get me a nice glass of Jack Daniels mixed with Jack Daniels please? Ah thank you! Where you been man? I’m the one up on stage here. But there’s more to the toe madness.

A patron at the Downtown Hotel in Dawson City, Yukon, Canada stole a mummified toe after drinking the hotel’s specialty drink, the Sourtoe Cocktail, last Saturday night.

The drink combines the dehydrated little piggy with whiskey — but really, any drink you want. The only rule is that the toe must touch your lips when you drink it. The brave drinkers then get a certificate of their achievement.

The fine for stealing or swallowing the toe is a whopping $2,500 — the fine the frisky thief must pay if he doesn’t return it. The toe thief left behind a vital clue: the Sourtoe Cocktail certificate with his name on it.

Yes that’s it!!!! The fine for stealing a toe is $2500!!!! Where’s Walter Sobchak when you need him?

World Tour Destination #4: Ireland
[br]

Part of our mission statement here at the Top 10 Conservative Idiots is to show you that conservative idiocy isn’t just a problem with America. No, it’s a global problem that is stemming far and wide, and it’s not just America where conservative idiots ruin everything they touch. And if you’re thinking of moving out of the United States just because Donald J. Trump is our current president and our nation is turning to shit, you should know what it is you’re getting into should you decide that you want to leave the country. In our quest to find the perfect liberal utopia, we are scouring the globe to find the right country! So far we’ve found that France is racist, Italy is Florida, and Greece is your broke uncle. So if you want a recap of the tour schedule – last week, we went to Greece to tell you about the world’s worst country when it comes to fiscal irresponsibility. Or as the Koch Brothers and the Mercers call it, “paradise”. And if you missed it, you missed a gem right there. This week, we’re going to Ireland – another nation with lots of political turmoil. So much that it split the country in two – literally – I Love Lucy style. Here’s the tour schedule:

Ireland

So our next stop on our world tour is Ireland. Ireland is one of the world’s hot spots for nature with some of the most beautiful scenery you can imagine. With such places like the Cliffs Of Moher, Connemara, and Killarney National. Ireland is also home to the Guinness Brewery – the original king of beers! Ireland is also home to one of the world’s biggest and best rock bands. I’m of course talking about the legendary U2! Bono is Irish, don’t you know? Ireland is also the home of the Blarney Castle which contains the world famous Blarney Stone. If you kiss it people say you gain the gift of eloquence, which has been touted for centuries! Ireland is also home to unique sports like Gaelic Football and Hurling. What is hurling? Even we don’t know! But what else is Ireland the home of? It’s the home of Northern Ireland. So Northern Ireland is emerging as the biggest piece of the puzzle in the Brexit talks. So what does that mean? Let’s go in depth on this.

BRUSSELS — Avoiding a hard border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland has emerged as the biggest challenge facing negotiators in the early phases of the Brexit talks.

The decision, finalized on the first day of talks Monday, to bring in the highest-ranking officials from both sides — Oliver Robbins and Sabine Weyand — to oversee the issue was a clear signal of how seriously the U.K. and the EU take the matter, and how alive they are to the political risks.

Discussions on Northern Ireland, the only part of the U.K. to have a land border with the EU will, over the summer, focus on technical solutions to the over-arching conundrum: how can a hard border, with customs, regulatory standards and immigration checks be avoided, when the U.K. wants to leave not only the EU but its customs union and single market as well.

Both sides agreed a week prior to Monday’s talks that the political sensitivities of the issue were such that Robbins and Weyand should take the lead, granting the matter special status within the wider negotiation. Their main task will be ensuring that proposals of technical solutions to the border issue take into account the sensitivities of preserving the peace process, already under strain from a political crisis in Northern Ireland.

There’s always that. But this is a very curious development with the Brexit situation. I know we’re talking about a whole other country here, but what do Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Brexit have to do with one another? Well… let’s ask British PM Theresa May, shall we?

There is a "very good" chance the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) and Conservatives will agree a parliamentary deal by next week, a DUP MP has said.

Sir Jeffrey Donaldson said that it was a case of "the sooner, the better".

Theresa May is seeking the support of the DUP's 10 MPs after losing her majority in the general election.

Both sides have been talking, but have not confirmed a deal to support a Conservative minority government.

But why? Why, you might ask? Well here’s an interesting angle of this whole thing. Northern Ireland doesn’t really want to be part of the Brexit deal, because they need “special status”. This is a very tangled web they weave!

The Irish government has declared it is demanding "special status" for Northern Ireland after Brexit.

Dublin's Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Coveney has dismissed "language coming from London" in recent days that technology alone - cameras and online permits - could bypass the need for border posts on the island of Ireland.

Mr Coveney, who met with EU chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier during the week, said an unprecedented "political solution" was needed to keep the status quo and an effectively invisible frontier.

"What we are insisting on achieving is a special status for Northern Ireland that allows the interaction on this island, as is currently the case, to be maintained," he said.

"It is not so much about a soft or hard border, it is about an invisible border effectively, that you don't notice as you cross it.

But here’s one area where the Irish and the Americans are vastly different. You know in America thanks to Donald “Fake News” Trump, Americans have been trusting the news media less and less and less. But in Ireland, guess what?

International research, published today by the Reuters Institute has found that Ireland has a higher trust in news media than the international average.

The survey of 36 countries found that 47% of Irish respondents trust the news media, compared with 41% internationally.

Meanwhile, just under a quarter (24%) of survey respondents worldwide said they think that social media do a good job in separating fact from fiction, compared to 40% for the news media.

In Ireland, the number of people who believe that news media does a good job is even higher, at 47%. The figure for social media is also higher among Irish respondents, at 28%.

Now in its sixth year, the annual Reuters Institute Digital News Report, published by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, reveals high levels of dissatisfaction internationally with the quality of news and comment generally, and on social media in particular.

This is the third year that the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) has funded the inclusion of Ireland in the Reuters Institute Digital News Report, as part of its work on media plurality in Ireland.

Fake news! Wrong! Sad! Don’t trust the lame stream media, OK? But now let’s meet the DUP – the Northern Irish governing party who’s set to negotiate the Brexit deal.

You may know nothing about them, but the Democratic Unionist Party and the DUP policies might be about to take on a pivotal role in British politics.

The conservative Northern Irish party’s 10 MPs are likely the only option the Conservatives and Theresa May have to govern effectively, as they fall just short of a majority in the House of Commons.

The party, the largest in the devolved Northern Irish Assembly, backed Brexit and has consistently blocked attempts to introduce gay marriage or more liberal abortion laws to the province. Now, the Democratic Unionist Party will have a large part to play in UK politics after the hung parliament result in the general election.

In Northern Ireland, the party defines itself by its unionist stance - its support of remaining part of the UK.

The party won two extra seats in what leader Arlene Foster called “a good night for the union”.

Its republican rivals Sinn Fein - who govern the province with the DUP - won seven seats but its MPs abstain from taking their seats. They reaffirmed this position on election night.

But he’s “beyond the political pale”. And in case you can’t guess – that’s a really really bad thing, and he’s someone you don’t want negotiating something as tricky as Brexit!

Democratic Unionist leader Arlene Foster will attack Jeremy Corbyn as beyond the "political pale" because of his past support for Irish republicans in a speech on Monday.

She is expected to attack the Labour leader's democratic credentials and voice support for his Conservative rival.

Mr Corbyn has said he wanted the violence in Northern Ireland to stop but refused to single out the IRA for condemnation during recent interviews.

Northern Ireland's former first minister said: "While Theresa May is well within the political mainstream and has proven herself to be a solid and reliable unionist, Jeremy Corbyn is beyond the political pale.

"It is hard to take seriously the democratic credentials of a man who was so close to the political representatives of the IRA at the height of the Troubles.

If you’re planning to visit Ireland – great! I hear they do love tourists and are very American friendly. Moving here? I would suggest doing more research before making such a commitment.

OMFG - Infowars Launching "CNN Is ISIS" Contest!

And they've been accusing George Soros of paying protestors from the beginning. Fuckers!!!!

Koch Donor: "God Gave Us One More Chance With Trump"

“We have maybe 10 months, a rare opportunity in at least a decade, to shrink the influence of the government in the economy,” said Wright’s husband, Chris. But with a president who seems unable to deliver a “clear, consistent from the top” and a slender 52-48 majority in the Senate, “we are threading the needle” on seeing that goal achieved, he said.

If this is what the billionaires think, we're truly fucked.

For Those Of You Keeping Score, This Is Trump's 30th Day On The Golf Course

Donald Trump has spent a 30th day of his presidency visiting one of his golf courses, although it is believed he was there for lunch and meetings rather than a round of golf.

The visit to Trump National Potomac in Virginia marks the 43rd day - according to an NBC tracker - that President has spent at one of his properties during his term. The latest visit to the Potomac course is believed to be Mr Trump's ninth in that time.

Mr Trump’s motorcade left the White House Saturday morning for an unannounced destination, eventually arriving at the course. he left around three hours later with no official word from the White on his activities.

Trump Appointee: "Second Civil War May Be Necessary", "Imagine A World Without Islam"

The Trump administration recently appointed William C. Bradford to be director of the Office of Indian Energy Policy and Programs. Bradford has a history of making incendiary, conspiratorial, and violent commentary on Twitter and in a regular online column.

The Washington Post’s Dino Grandoni reported that Bradford, formerly the attorney general of the Chiricahua Apache Nation, had written a number of “disturbing tweets,” including calling former President Barack Obama “a Kenyan creampuff,” calling Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg a “little arrogant self-hating Jew,” questioning in 2016 whether a “military coup” might be needed if Obama refused to leave office, and claiming that Japanese internment camps were “necessary.” He also “wrote that women should not serve in the military and referred to then-Fox News host Megyn Kelly as ‘MegOBgyn Kelly,’” the Post noted.

Bradford has since deleted his Twitter account and apologized for his remarks, stating, “As a minority and member of the Jewish faith, I sincerely apologize for my disrespectful and offensive comments.” He also said that “as a public servant, I hold myself to a higher standard.”

Here are some of the lowlights of his columns:

Bradford called Vince Foster’s death “suspicious.” In one column, Bradford wrote that Hillary Clinton “may be the most godless person in D.C. She may have a date with fire.” He then added that “Stumping for Hillary, [Madeleine] Albright is silent about Vince Foster. Foster was a longtime Clinton colleague and deputy White House counsel, whose suspicious 1993 death prevented him from testifying in criminal matters involving Hillary, including the mysterious disappearance of subpoeanaed (sic) Rose Law Firm billing records. His death was officially ruled a suicide, but many doubt Foster killed himself.” [Communities Digital News, 2/16/16]

Bradford said “a second U.S. Civil War may be necessary” if the country elected a Democrat. In a January 2016 column, he warned that “Americans will elect slavery over freedom for the goodies bought with other people’s money, time, and toil. And so, a second U.S. Civil War may be necessary to pull up the roots Communism has sunk deep into our soil. But election 2016 is our last best hope to avoid it. Pray the voters choose well.” In a December 2015 piece, he wrote that “a second U.S. civil war that inflicted death on the scale of the first would kill ten million Americans. Let’s … [commit] to limited government, a traditional understanding of the Constitution, and a relearning of the concept of the ‘enemy.’ Only by doing so can we ensure that Americans never suffer the hell of civil war again.” [Communities Digital News, 1/30/16; 12/5/15]

Home Is Where The Hate Is

An early high-water mark of Donald Trump’s presidency came Feb. 28, with his first address to Congress. Midway through the speech, the new president turned to national security: “We are also taking strong measures to protect our nation from” – and here he paused for emphasis – “radical Islamic terrorism.”

Those words got him a standing ovation. A week later, he unveiled his second executive order banning entry for people from several Muslim-majority nations.

Trump frequently had excoriated his predecessor, President Barack Obama, and his chief political opponent, Hillary Clinton, as naive, even gutless, for preferring “violent extremism” to describe the nature of the global and domestic terrorist threat.

“Anyone who cannot name our enemy is not fit to lead this country,” Trump said at one campaign speech in Ohio. During another, in Philadelphia, he drove home the attack: “We now have an administration and a former secretary of state who refuse to say ‘radical Islamic terrorism.’ ”

It was a strange place to make his point. The only Islamist terror attack in Pennsylvania over the past 15 years was committed by Edward Archer, a mentally ill man who shot and injured a police officer in early 2016, later telling investigators that he pledged allegiance to the Islamic State. Far-right episodes of violent extremism were far more common.

Just two years before Trump’s Pennsylvania speech, anti-government radical Eric Matthew Frein ambushed two police officers in the township of Blooming Grove, killing one and wounding another, then led law enforcement authorities on a 48-day manhunt in the woods. (He was sentenced to death in April.)

This whole article is long but worth reading. This is why we have Trump in office.

John Oliver Sued By CEO Of Murray Energy

Robert Murray, the CEO of one of America's largest coal companies, filed a defamation lawsuit against Oliver on Wednesday. The lawsuit claims the HBO comedian executed a "meticulously planned" and "ruthless character assassination" designed to boost TV ratings and hurt his mining company.

The lawsuit named Oliver, the show's production company, his senior news producer Charles Wilson, HBO and Time Warner (TWX) (which owns CNN). The complaint alleges that Oliver's "Last Week Tonight" episode on Sunday "incited" viewers to "do harm to Mr. Murray and his companies." It also claims the miner's website was hacked as a result of the segment, and that Oliver's statements constitute "false light invasion of privacy" and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

During his June 18 show, Oliver lambasted President Trump over his promises to bring back thousands of coal mining jobs, a pledge the comedian says is a false promise to an industry that's been in a steep decline for decades.

The segment, which has been viewed 4.5 million times on YouTube, devoted several minutes to Murray, the CEO of Murray Energy, and a vocal champion of the coal industry. Oliver told the audience that Murray had warned him he would sue and bring the case all the way to the Supreme Court if he failed to "cease and desist" any effort to "defame, harass, or otherwise injure Mr. Murray or Murray Energy."

Want to take it to SCOTUS? Bring it on! You will lose that fight!
