Car question?

Didn't know where else to post this, so . . .


Anyway, 2002 Dodge Caravan. Went to start it, rattled like a machine gun, dashboard dials spinning. Check engine light has been on for over three years.

Alternator, maybe? I really can't afford to get ripped off, so any help is very welcome!

Bought in 2009, it had 130K on odometer, I've added less than 20K.

UPDATE -- Friend brought his jumper cables and got the car running. We drove it to Auto Zone where they checked everything under the hood; alternator and starter are fine, but the battery needed replacing. I sat in the car while my friend and the Auto Zone guy talked hot rods as he replaced the battery. Also got new wipers, so now I can actually see where I'm driving.

New York Times honors Dr. Mark Wallace for early work during pandemic

New York Times opinion staffers created the “Fauci Awards” to honor public health officials for work they’ve done during COVID-19. Dr. Mark Wallace, former Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment director, was one of three doctors featured.

...Early in the pandemic, Wallace used his position to investigate the meat processing plant after reports indicated safety protocols — including physical distancing and COVID testing — were not available.

...The former public health official worked with Weld County for 25 years before retiring in May. Emails obtained by the Greeley Tribune in May indicate that the Weld County Commissioners sought to alter language related to COVID-19, including softening language in a press release about the county’s first pandemic-related death.

Wallace and his staff were also told that all social media posts, website updates and press releases needed to be cleared by Jennifer Finch, the county’s chief information officer.

Our national mood may just start to change. . .

Bringing in the groceries

Well, I got tired of trying to juggle while bringing in the groceries. It's gotten downright tricky, what with using a cane and dragging along an oxygen supply. I finally relented and got one of those wire "granny" carts, and it's been a help. But there's still the cane, and the oxygen's shoulder strap never stays put.

Anyway, I was cruising around on craigslist and came across a picture of a bicycle. What caught my eye was the basket attached to the handlebars. Aha! So I did some shopping online and found one; it arrived, and it was easy to attach it to the front of the cart. Now I can load the cart with groceries, and use the basket to hold my oxygen and purse. Sweet!

Just wanted to share in case someone else suffers similar juggling deficiency.
