On the morning of November 29, 1864, Chivington ordered his troops to attack......

Black Kettle, a chief of a group of around 800 mostly Northern Cheyenne, reported to Fort Lyon in an effort to establish peace. After having done so, he and his band, along with some Arapaho under Chief Niwot, camped out at nearby Sand Creek, less than 40 miles north. The Dog Soldiers, who had been responsible for many of the raids on whites, were not part of this encampment. Assured by the U.S. Government's promises of peace, most of the warriors were off hunting buffalo, leaving only around 60 men, and women and children in the village. Most of the men were too old or too young to hunt. Black Kettle flew an American flag over his lodge, since previously the officers had said this would show he was friendly and prevent attack by U.S. soldiers.

Setting out from Fort Lyon, Chivington and his 700 troops of the First Colorado Cavalry, Third Colorado Cavalry and a company of First New Mexico Volunteers marched to Black Kettle's campsite. On the night of November 28, soldiers and militia drank heavily and celebrated their anticipated victory. On the morning of November 29, 1864, Chivington ordered his troops to attack. Two officers, Captain Silas Soule and Lieutenant Joseph Cramer, commanding companies D and K, respectively, of the First Colorado Cavalry, refused to follow Chivington's order and told their men to hold fire. Other soldiers in Chivington's force, however, immediately attacked the village. Disregarding the American flag, and a white flag that was run up shortly after the soldiers commenced firing, Chivington's soldiers massacred many of its inhabitants.

I ate something for my health, this morning, that I have never eaten before..never..

I had bought a can of canned salmon last week,
wild salmon from Alaska..Castle Rock ..

Now, I don't eat much breakfast, but got some heart issues, and they say, Omega 3, and
salmon is the best, they say, so, I opened up this can, and ate half of it.
Half for tomorrow..now that may not be a big deal for you..but it is for me...

They hoped for a shot at a coveted spot at one of South Africa’s public universities, and with it a chance to escape the indignity of joblessness that afflicts more than a third of the nation. By morning, the line was more than a mile long.

Paramedics attended to one of the people injured on Tuesday during a stampede at the University of Johannesburg as students sought openings.

As the gates were about to open at 7:45 Tuesday morning, thousands of students, many accompanied by their anxious parents, surged forward, desperate to win one of several hundred last-chance places still open at the University of Johannesburg. Amid shoving and screams, one woman, the mother of a prospective student, was trampled to death and several others were badly injured in a frantic scrum.

The stampede embodied the broad crisis in South Africa’s overstretched higher education system as it struggles to extend opportunities once reserved for whites to all South Africans. It is a problem of grade school mathematics: Too many students are seeking too few seats at the country’s public universities, which turn away more than half of their applicants, leaving few options for most high school graduates

Keith Olbermann's feud with his bosses at Current TV has been resolved -- for now.

Tensions between the "Countdown" host and the leadership at the small network had reached a boiling point last week, as the two sides publicly warred over Olbermann's control of Current's 2012 election coverage.

On Sunday night, Olbermann took to Twitter to announce that he would, in fact, be at the helm of Current's coverage. "I'm pleased to tell you that I'll be running the election coverage on Current, after New Hampshire," he wrote. "Not sure GOP will share my satisfaction."

Important advice that you may not need.

If by some chance, you have any 1984 calanders lying around, you may reuse them this year...they will fit perfectly...

If you don't go back that far..........then........

..Start out this year...with a 1995, and in March, you may switch to a 1990 calander..(problems with this system occur
during a leap year..)...By using the 1990 for the rest of the year, starting with March, it will fit perfectly..
