Goodell Lied, That is Why Rice was Reinstated, The media is playing it wrong..On purpose...

Rice told the truth at the first meeting, and Roger Goodell lied about it. It was not the terms of the suspension, it was the lie that the NFL Commissioner told to the league about what had transpired in the elevator...
.The headlines I have seen focused on the reinstatement, not the lie of Goodell. The lead should be about the liar. Clearly that should cost him his job, immediately..

Think Progress, and AP, to see the story, you need to scroll down a little:
http://thinkprogress.org/sports/2014/11/28/3597559/judge-finds-goodells-story-was-a-lie-immediately-reinstates-ray-rice-to-nfl/

Following the release of the video, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell claimed that Rice misled the league about what had transpired in the elevator. Goodell told CBS News that “when we met with Ray Rice and his representatives, it was ambiguous about what actually happened.” He said in a league letter that the video depicted an incident that was “starkly different” than the account relayed to him by Ray Rice.

Goodell said the “new information” in the video to justify revising Rice’s punishment and suspended him indefinitely.

But a federal judge, in an arbitration proceeding, rejected Goodell’s claims and found that Rice was truthful in the June proceeding. U.S. District Judge Barbara S. Jones found that “Rice did not mislead the Commissioner at the June 16th meeting, and therefore, that the imposition of a second suspension based on the same incident and the same known facts about the incident, was arbitrary.” Jones found that the Commissioner was not “fair or consistent” in his punishment. She also admonished the league for their failure to take domestic violence more seriously, prior to a public backlash.

ESPN personality Bill Simmons was suspended in October for calling Goodell “a liar.” Simmons claim, however, was backed up by ESPN’s own reporting and, now, a federal judge

"Over the last several weeks, decade-old, discredited allegations against Mr. Cosby have resurfaced. The fact that they are being repeated does not make them true. Mr. Cosby does not intend to dignify these allegations with any comment. He would like to thank all his fans for the outpouring of support and assure them that, at age 77, he is doing his best work. There will be no further statement from Mr. Cosby or any of his representatives."

Report: Only 3% of Mainstream TV News Guests Opposed War: Democracy Now, FAIR

http://www.democracynow.org/2014/11/17/headlines#11173

A new analysis of mainstream TV news has found there was almost no debate about whether the United States should go to war in Iraq and Syria. The group Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting, or FAIR, found that of the more than 200 guests who appeared on network shows to discuss the topic, just six voiced opposition to military action. On the high-profile Sunday talk shows, out of 89 guests, there was just one antiwar voice — Katrina vanden Heuvel, editor of The Nation.

Here is a link to the actual study, published by FAIR

Proof that the Mainstream Media wants war, to frighten all of us. Constant War!!!!!
George Orwell .....1984.. predicted this......from Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nineteen_Eighty-Four

Nineteen Eighty-Four, sometimes published as 1984, is a dystopian novel by George Orwell published in 1949.[1][2] The novel is set in Airstrip One (formerly known as Great Britain), a province of the superstate Oceania in a world of perpetual war, omnipresent government surveillance, and public manipulation, dictated by a political system euphemistically named English Socialism (or Ingsoc in the government's invented language, Newspeak) under the control of a privileged Inner Party elite that persecutes all individualism and independent thinking as "thoughtcrimes".[3] The tyranny is epitomised by Big Brother, the quasi-divine Party leader who enjoys an intense cult of personality, but who may not even exist. The Party "seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power

What to tell Republicans who don't believe in government regulations.

Republicans say, "Government regulations are no good, and hurt business"

tell them, "Show how you feel by never putting on your seat belt.., that is a government regulation that kinda holds you back. So don't put it on. You know, none of the government regulations ever help anyone anyway....."

leave it at that..and argue if they are consistent, they will not put on a seat belt...kinda harsh, but they need to realize what they are really saying...and thinking.....

Chart: Why The House is A Fortress the Dems Can't Win..Talking Points Memo

After Republicans expanded their majority in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, giving the party its largest number of seats in the lower chamber since World War II, "Meet the Press" moderator Chuck Todd made an observation that probably triggered even more Democratic heartache.

"So this really secures the House Republican majority for the rest of this decade," Todd said during NBC's election coverage. "Not until 2022, I think, at the earliest, will you see Democrats have a chance at winning the House."

A closer look at the numbers shows why the GOP House majority is basically impenetrable until the next redistricting, and maybe beyond. It was never more stark than in 2012, when Democrats received about 500k more votes nationwide than Republicans but still ended up with substantially fewer seats. Some of this is due to an extremely effective gerrymandering effort by Republicans after the 2010 election. But it's not only that. Democrats are also increasingly concentrated in small geographical areas, which greatly amplifies the effect of gerrymandering and is also a significant and growing issue in itself.

While this has been discussed before, this is still pretty ugly when one looks at it this way.

Eight Years Ago Today, The Main Stream Media Died. 8AM

It was a Friday after the 2006 midterm elections. Democrats had won a huge victory in the midterms, lots of positive talk everywhere on the news. Yet, if I recall, that talk did not last very long. On the Thursday after the election, there was other news, Bush had fired Rumsfeld, but that was big news that day, I knew it would be one day, and then, back to our victory. So, I was listening to CBS Radio network news, I recall it was 8AM. Perhaps, I thought, some good news on the huge victory. Some changes would be in order to stop the Bush nightmare. It was the CBS News Radio network, honest, reliable. Walter Cronkite.

The lead story that lasted close to a minute at 8am that day, (the whole radio network news was no more than 4 minutes of news) was John Mc Cain setting up an exploratory committee to run for president in 2008. That was the lead story two days after we won the so called victory of a lifetime. Someone decided that mentioning Mc Cain's committee being set up for a presidential run two years away, was more important than the midterm elections. What the hell??? The story explained why the committee needed to be set up early and that Mc Cain needed time to consider all possibilities. That was the "news" on a respected national radio network eight years ago today. Something was wrong. Someone wanted to pitch Mc Cain tentative campaign more than discuss the huge election victory of a few days ago. . I thought about it, and all respect for the national radio news on CBS flew away forever. (for me) The network was pitching a republican candidate's election two years into the future, when there was other more important "news. " It had morphed into national "tell all" for republican hacks and their point of view. That news source was gone for me, and I soon realized most of them were the same. Not unbiased, but very biased. Their goal is to legitimize a particular point of view, (the republican view) not present news. It had been that way for years.

It happened 8 years ago, on the Friday after the midterm elections, and that is the way it was...and still is... .

Harvard University Secretly Photographed Thousands of Students As Part of a Study: TPM

Talking Points Memo:

Harvard University officials dropped a bombshell on Tuesday, admitting that the school secretly photographed thousands of students last spring.

As part of a project to monitor classroom attendance, the university maintained secret a network of cameras installed around campus, The Boston Globe reported on Wednesday.

Details of the surveillance program came out as officials addressed faculty about an incident from the previous year, in which the administration had rifled through thousands of college email accounts — including 16 deans — in order to trace a media leak on a cheating scandal.

Computer science professor Harry Lewis broached the question during the faculty meeting, telling the Globe that he learned of the photo surveillance from two colleagues.

“You should do studies only with the consent of the people being studied,” Lewis told the Globe
