Disabled vet, service dog kicked off boardwalk by police

A wounded U.S. war veteran and his wife visiting the Jersey Shore were asked to leave a boardwalk because of the man's service dog. Veteran Jared Goering says he was kicked off the boards and issued a summons all over his service dog named Navigator. "They said that my dog wasn't a seeing-eye dog and that one seeing-eye dogs are allowed on the boardwalk," said Goering.

Goering and his wife, Sally, were visiting New Jersey from Tampa, FL and were on the way to dinner Thursday night when police on the North Wildwood, NJ Boardwalk. The couple tried to explain that the dog, called Gator for short, is covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act, which allows Gator to go everywhere Jared goes.

"Then he [the officer] went on to say that, ‘what do they do give every vet a dog now?' He [the dog] has a vest on him, he has a leash, and that's all that's necessary. He does carry an ID which he did give to the officer, and the officer gave it back and said, ‘that doesn't mean anything to me,'" Sally Goering said.

Jared retired from military service after 19 years because of injuries during multiple tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. He has a traumatic brain injury from the IEDs and problems with mobility. Gator helps him walk and go up and down stairs.

"I respect cops, I respect what they do," Jared said. "I know they don't have an easy job, but my job for 20 years was to defend the country. I got shot at on a daily basis and then blown up, you know? Yeah, it hurts." The Wildwood, NJ police chief says he's looked in to the matter and there is more to it, but declined further comment. The summons has been dismissed.

Steve King offered some 'valuable' advice to attendees of the Family Leadership Summit:

Steve King: 'Just Go Ahead And Defy The IRS'

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) spoke out against the Internal Revenue Service on Saturday, telling attendees of the Family Leadership Summit to "just go ahead and defy the IRS."

"When we lean across our backyard fence, or when you step up to the pulpit or when you sit in the pew, when you profess the things that we believe in, and you're a 501(c)3 and you're afraid of the IRS, just go ahead and defy the IRS on that," King said, according to the Des Moines Register. "I'll stand there with you. If we can’t preach the word in America, where can we preach it."

King received a warm reception at the http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/10/steve-king-irs_n_3737440.html, organized by the nonprofit religious organization the Family Leader. Other speakers at the event included former GOP presidential hopeful Rick Santorum and real estate mogul Donald Trump.

And he is going to be where and doing what to help when you start to suffer the consequences?

The IRS is one agency I would not want to add me to their list of people to watch . They take action immediately and you have to prove them wrong. You MAY be recompensed at some way later date.

It's no skin off of this moran's nose.

What happened to the man with a gun speeding through a neighborhood with kids?

Driver shoots self in groin after neighbors stop him for speeding around kids

Residents of a neighborhood in Virginia say that an angry driver mistakenly shot himself in the groin after they flagged him down for speeding around children. Neighbors in a Norfolk community told WTKR that they never thought that asking 43-year-old Rhonney Jacobs to slow down would escalate into a shooting.

“My friends were standing right there in the yard and the guy came flying by and they were like ‘slow down, there’s kids’ and the guy did a U-turn and pulled over,” Ashley Summerson recalled.

Witnesses said that Jacobs got out of his car and started waiving around a gun, and then it went off. “[Jacobs] pulled his gun out trying to shoot one of them but he shot himself,” Summerson explained. “He was holding his groin and there was blood everywhere,” witness Zach Watson added.

WTKR reported that the children were only feet away from where the gun went off. “I’m just happy none of the kids got hurt,” Watson said. “I’d rather get shot than one of these kids.” Jacobs was charged with discharging a firearm and brandishing a firearm, according to The Virginian-Pilot.

The Mennonite Ghost Rapes Of Bolivia (Stunned!Jeebus,Jeebus,Jeebus....Still in shock....)

For a while, the residents of Manitoba Colony thought demons were raping the town’s women. There was no other explanation. No way of explaining how a woman could wake up with blood and semen stains smeared across her sheets and no memory of the previous night. No way of explaining how another went to sleep clothed, only to wake up naked and covered by dirty fingerprints all over her body. No way to understand how another could dream of a man forcing himself onto her in a field—and then wake up the next morning with grass in her hair.

For Sara Guenter, the mystery was the rope. She would sometimes wake up in her bed with small pieces of it tied tightly to her wrists or ankles, the skin beneath an aching blue. Earlier this year, I visited Sara at her home, simple concrete painted to look like brick, in Manitoba Colony, Bolivia. Mennonites are similar to the Amish in their rejection of modernity and technology, and Manitoba Colony, like all ultraconservative Mennonite communities, is a collective attempt to retreat as far as possible from the nonbelieving world. A slight breeze of soy and sorghum came off the nearby fields as Sara told me how, in addition to the eerie rope, on those mornings after she’d been raped she would also wake to stained sheets, thunderous headaches, and paralyzing lethargy.
<snip>
Then, one night in June 2009, two men were caught trying to enter a neighbor’s home. The two ratted out a few friends and, falling like a house of cards, a group of nine Manitoba men, ages 19 to 43, eventually confessed that they had been raping Colony families since 2005. To incapacitate their victims and any possible witnesses, the men used a spray created by a veterinarian from a neighboring Mennonite community that he had adapted from a chemical used to anesthetize cows. According to their initial confessions (which they later recanted), the rapists admitted to—sometimes in groups, sometimes alone—hiding outside bedroom windows at night, spraying the substance through the screens to drug entire families, and then crawling inside.

But it wasn’t until their trial, which took place almost two years later, in 2011, that the full scope of their crimes came to light. The transcripts read like a horror movie script: Victims ranged in age from three to 65 (the youngest had a broken hymen, purportedly from finger penetration). The girls and women were married, single, residents, visitors, the mentally infirm. Though it’s never discussed and was not part of the legal case, residents privately told me that men and boys were raped, too.
<snip>
Helena, like the other rape victims in Manitoba, was never offered the chance to speak with a professional therapist, even though she said she would if given the opportunity. “Why would they need counseling if they weren’t even awake when it happened?” Manitoba Colony Bishop Johan Neurdorf, the community’s highest authority, had told a visitor back in 2009 after the perpetrators were caught.

Other victims I interviewed—those who awoke during the rapes, as well as those with no memory of the night—said that they would also have liked to speak with a therapist about their experiences but that doing so would be nearly impossible because there are no Low German-speaking sexual-trauma recovery experts in Bolivia.

Much, much more: http://www.vice.com/read/the-ghost-rapes-of-bolivia-000300-v20n8?Contentpage=-1

Reading this was like watching a horror movie that is all too real.
The depravity in ths community is beyond my comprehension.
I hope something will be done, but after reading the whole story, I don't have high hopes.

Allow me to introduce Sam & Patricia Harless. She's a TX State Rep.He's running for TX State Senate:

Please allow me to introduce you to Sam and Patricia Harless. They are the owners of Fred Fincher Motors. Patricia Harless is the Republican Texas State Representative of District 126, which is right outside Houston. She’s one of those foam at the mouth about Voter ID, homeschooling, and Jesus people. She has had to repeatedly deny that she ever hires undocumented workers. Hell, she’ll deny it when nobody has even asked about it.

Well, she took to the Twitter and announced that her husband Sam is running for the State Senate. Now, that would be Senator Dan Patrick’s old job because Dan is running for Lt. Gov. Sam has vowed to spend $1 million of his own money in the race.
Maybe he should before the lawyers get it.

It seems that Sam’s Used Car dealership might be subject to some legal action. You know, like torture. But, I am sure it was the Christian kind. A man filed a civil lawsuit against his former employer after he said he was tortured and humiliated in front of co-workers and customers for nine months.

Bradley Jones, 45, worked at Fred Fincher Motors for more than four years. He said for the last nine months, his fellow employees began sneaking up on him and hitting him with a stun gun. He said it happened at least two dozen times and each incident left him more on edge. “I was constantly looking behind my shoulder, distracted, couldn’t sleep,” Jones said. “I would even look behind my shower curtain at home.”

Jones said his boss, Sam Harless, provided the stun gun and also held the camera many times. The videos were posted on YouTube, but have been taken off. Harless called it “a frivolous lawsuit.” I dunno, dude. There’s video tape of it. And you might spend some of that million dollars getting someone to get that guilty as hell look off your face.

What wuuunderful people.
Jones must have really needed that job to put up with that once much less 9 months.
I'd rather blow grass clippngs along medians.

Fox May Produce Clinton Biopic Reviled by G.O.P.

The script for the proposed mini-series on the life of the possible presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton hasn’t even been written but we may already have a plot twist.

While NBC has come under heavy fire, especially from Republican critics, for agreeing to broadcast the series, the project may wind up being produced by another company: Fox Television Studios, the sister company of the conservative favorite, Fox News.

Leslie Oren, a spokesman for FTVS, as the studio is known, confirmed that NBC is in “the early stages” of discussions to bring the Fox unit in as the production company on the as yet unnamed mini-series, which will star Diane Lane as Mrs. Clinton.

“There is no deal yet,” Ms. Oren said. But should a deal be completed, FTVS would become the distributor of the film internationally. FTVS is the production arm of 21st Century Fox’s entertainment group.

Dronestagram (all the info you need on the drone strikes)

August 7 2013 - At least six people killed by the fifth drone strike in Yemen in two weeks, with six missiles fired at two cars in a remote area. The ongoing strikes are in response to a non-specific threat which sources told NBC could have been ‘an assassination, an assault on a drone base or another Western target’. An anonymous senior official said: ‘It’s too early to tell whether we’ve actually disrupted anything’ as the US closed 19 embassies in the Middle East and North Africa. Will McCants, a former State department counter-terrorism advisor and director at the Brookings Institute, said of the decision: ‘It’s crazy pants – you can quote me.’ #drone #drones #yemen (at Markha, Shabwa Province)

August 6 2013 - Four men killed in the fourth strike in 10 days, part of a coordinated response to an impending Al Qaeda attack, according to unnamed US officials. As many as five missiles were fired at the vehicle as it drove through the central province of Marib in the early hours, which “turned [it] into a ball of fire”. #drone #drones #yemen (at Wadi Abeeda, Marib Province)

August 1 2013 - A Toyota Hilux was targeted in a dawn strike, killing all four occupants, on the same day that Yemen’s President Hadi visited the White House to discuss counter-terrorism and political reform. Unnamed media sources claimed the dead were al Qaeda militants, but locals claimed they were civilian Al-Sai’aar tribesman, including one child. The bodies were too badly burned to identify. #drone #drones #yemen (at Wadi Ser, Hadramout)

Steubenville-Inspired Program Teaches Teen Jocks Not to Instagram Rape by Katie J.M.Baker

A U.S. Attorney is starting a program in West Virginia that will teach high school athletes to use social media "responsibly" so as to prevent Steubenville 2.0. Why teach kids not to rape when you could teach them not to get caught?

Trent Mays, one of the two ex-high school football players convicted of raping an underage West Virginia girl last summer, was also convicted of using his phone to photograph the girl naked. Repeat after me, kids: if he hadn't documented the deed, he might've gotten off easier!

While introducing his program Thursday, which will be rolled out this month at 11 high schools, U.S. Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld's said that the combination of alcohol, smartphones and social media was "extremely volatile."

The rape case "definitely played a role in causing us to think, 'Who do we need to focus upon?'" Ihlenfeld told the AP. "We thought, 'Let's start calling athletic directors and coaches to see if they're interested.' That investment of time hopefully will pay dividends down the road, not only because you hope the kids are going to stay out of trouble. Social media creates so many distractions off the field for coaches. Maybe we can help them avoid that situation as well."

Repeat after me, kids: social media leads to rape, not entitlement or lack of communication or disregard for consent or preconceived notions about what kind of girls deserve what they get.

Ihlenfeld said the Steubenville case "was eye opening - one night with high school students involved with alcohol, (smartphones) and social media, how that can change the lives of those involved forever." Repeat after me — wait, sorry, I'm too disgusted to continue. School's out.

And we wonder why some kids are not ok........
