UCmeNdc's JournalRep. Grayson mocks ‘bath salts caucus’ for voting against Sandy relief
Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) on Monday mocked the 67 House Republicans who voted against disaster relief funds for the victims of Hurricane Sanday.
Its the same 67 over and over again, he noted on The Stephanie Miller Show. Its the bath salts caucus, the people that would rather eat your face than raise taxes on the rich.

Bill Kristol’s big plans start with derailing Chuck Hagel nomination
One Kristol-linked group, the Emergency Committee for Israel, has already aired ads targeting former Sen. Chuck Hagel, who is Obamas nominee for defense secretary and is planning a substantial paid-media campaign opposing the nomination. Kristol believes Hagel is both a bitter opponent of Israel and very weak on Iran.
It wont end with Hagel, either. Another Kristol-linked group, the Center for American Freedom, has signaled its intent to go after other prospective Obama nominees.
Plus, Kristol and his allies have been talking about starting a reformist organization to recraft Republican fiscal policies and champion a rising generation of Republicans, such as Kristol favorites Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan. The hypothetical group,

Log Cabin Republicans Criticize Chuck Hagel's Gay Rights Record In Full-Page Ad
Hagel recently apologized, saying his 1998 remarks were "insensitive." Hormel has said the former senator's remarks seemed politically timed but accepted them as a "clear apology."
The Log Cabin Republicans' ad says Hagel's apology is "too little, too late," and includes a timeline of the senator's record on gay rights. It points out that in 1996, he said he would have voted for the Defense of Marriage Act, which prohibits federal recognition of same-sex marriages. In 1999, he also said he opposed repealing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," the ban on openly gay men and women serving in the military that was repealed in 2010.
The group's stance against Hagel appears to be far stricter than it was against GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, whom it endorsed in the presidential race. Romney also opposed same-sex marriage and took hardline positions against gay rights during his campaign.

Ed Rendell Attacks Safety Net While Calling for More Elected Republicans
The corporatist elites have been relentless in their attacks on earned benefits for Americans and are trying to seize upon Disaster Capitalism tactics to try and swindle the 98% out of needed entitlements using the mask of bipartisanship. The loathsome Ed Rendell was back on MSNBC and continued his assault on working-class Americans. He even went as far as to throw support for the election of more Republicans like Steve Latourette, who wanted to cut government spending tremendously.

Fracking Gets a 'Thumbs Up' from Fox & Friends
Climate change-denying, media savvy Phelim McAleer got a warm welcome on Fox & Friends this morning where he was the only guest to discuss a New York Department of Health review about fracking that a Fox banner misleadingly trumpeted as concluding, "It's safe." McAleer also just so happens to have a new pro-fracking documentary coming out.
Host Alisyn Camerota cited the New York review and offered up McAleer an immediate opportunity to swipe at environmentalists by posing this question: Will all of that, do you think, quiet the critics?
A banner on the screen read TRUTH ABOUT FRACKING: NY DEPT OF HEALTH REVIEW CONCLUDES IT'S SAFE.
McAleer took the bait:
The critics are not anti-fracking. Theyre anti-fossil fuels, theyre anti-American, theyre anti-modernity, anti-progress
Its a coalition of all sorts of extreme greens, celebrity, Hollywood celebrities and oddballs.
McAleer went on to say that fracking, which has been conducted for 50 years, "causes no health problems, its safe.

End of Days for Northeast Republicans?
"I didn't leave the Republican Party, it left me." Former FL Republican Gov. Charlie Crist, 9/6/2012"Anyone from New York or New Jersey who contributes one penny to the Republican Congressional Campaign Committee should have their head examined." - Rep. Peter King (R-NY), 1/2/2013.
The only way that Republicans in an entire region of the country --- the Northeast --- can achieve meaningful representation in the 113th Congress may be by way of a massive party switch. The increasingly rare breed of "moderate House Republicans" may soon only be left with the choice of emulating the late Sen. Arlen Specter's 2009 party switch, by either becoming Democrats or by becoming independents who will caucus with the Democrats.

Network News Shows Ignore House GOP Failure To Reauthorize Violence Against Women Act
The news shows of the major networks ABC, NBC, and CBS did not report on the need to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), which expired after the House failed to reauthorize it by the close of the 112th Congress on Tuesday.

Ted Cruz: Only Democrats are threatening default on the debt
Tea party backed Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Sunday insisted only Democrats were threatening default on the debt even though he has vowed not to raise the debt ceiling until Congress passes a balanced budget amendment. Let me be very clear about this, Cruz told Fox News host John Roberts.
Let me be very clear about this, Cruz told Fox News host John Roberts. I do not support default on the debt. We should never default on the debt, and the only players on Washington who are threatening default on the debt are President Barack Obama and [Senate Majority Leader] Harry Reid.

On Sandy Relief Aid, Kansas House Delegation Votes Unanimously Against
Intramural Republican politics in Kansas could be behind the decision of the state's entire House delegation to vote against Hurricane Sandy relief Friday, making it the only delegation to do so.
Kansas' four House members joined 63 other Republicans in voting against $9.7 billion in additional funds for the federal flood insurance program, the first part of a $60 billion relief package for residents of New Jersey, New York and Connecticut impacted by the late October super storm. The rise in power of conservative Republicans in the state is being mentioned by some as a potential cause of the state's decision to vote against the package.
