The FDA has agreed to delete and never republish several social-media posts suggesting that ivermectin, a drug that some doctors used to treat COVID-19, is for animals and not humans.
While the FDA still does not approve of using ivermectin to treat COVID, it settled Thursday a lawsuit brought by three doctors who sued it, as well as the Department of Health and Human Services and its secretary, Xavier Becerra, and FDA secretary Robert Califf. All parties have settled.
The lawsuit, filed on June 2, 2022, was brought by doctors Mary Talley Bowden, Paul Marik and Robert Apter, each of whom claimed the FDA was interfering with their ability to practice medicine.
The case was initially dismissed on the grounds the FDA had "sovereign immunity," though a U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit reversed the lower court's decision saying that the "FDA is not a physician.

Princess Kate announces she is undergoing treatment for cancer
LONDON — Kate, the Princess of Wales, announced Friday that she was diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy, breaking her silence after weeks of widespread speculation over her health.
The 42-year-old wife of Prince William, Britain’s future king, was hospitalized for nearly two weeks at the private London Clinic after having major abdominal surgery in January.
It was thought that her condition was noncancerous and that the surgery had been successful, Kate said Friday in a rare video message. "However," she said, "tests after the operation found cancer had been present.”
Kate said that she was now undergoing “a course of preventative chemotherapy” on the advice of her medical team. She did not specify what type of cancer she has or at what stage it was found, and Kensington Palace has not said why the operation was necessary.

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito on Monday extended an order barring Texas officials from detaining and jailing migrants suspected of crossing the U.S. southern border without authorization under a new state immigration law known as SB4 that the Biden administration has called unconstitutional.
Minutes after a self-imposed deadline passed, Alito issued an order continuing to pause enforcement of the controversial Texas law, one of Gov. Greg Abbott's signature immigration policies, on an administrative basis.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit is considering the measure's legality, and the Justice Department asked the Supreme Court to put the law on hold as the court challenge plays out. The full court has not yet acted on that request.
Passed by the Texas legislature last year, SB4 criminalizes unauthorized migration at the state level, making the act of entering the U.S. outside of a port of entry -- already a federal offense -- into a state crime. It also creates a felony charge for illegal reentry at the state level.

This is a horrific law which was overturned by a federal judge. The SCOTUS granted two stays on the law. The stay expired 4 pm CDT, March 18th.
It was expired for five minutes, then Alito extended the stay again. (This time indefinitely)

Austin’s federal court has already had its say. U.S. District Judge David Ezra ruled against it. He wrote, "SB 4 threatens the fundamental notion that the United States must regulate immigration with one voice." And he added this would violate the U.S. constitution.
SB 4 would allow state and local police in Texas to arrest people they suspect of crossing the border illegally. The state says it needs to step in there the feds have failed to enforce U.S. immigration law.
But opponents of the measure claim giving such power to officers and judges inexperienced in the nuances of immigration law would lead to racial profiling and discrimination. Domingo Garcia, the national president for the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) says, “This is the worst kind of divisive politics that we’ve seen. When people said the Irish were going to destroy America or the Italians or the Jews, all of that was false.”

Texas and the feds are at odds over the state’s new immigration enforcement law. Here’s what it would do.
Senate Bill 4 seeks to make illegal immigration a state crime and give Texas police the authority to arrest migrants suspected of illegally crossing the border.
This new law would make it a state crime to cross the Texas-Mexico border between ports of entry. If a police officer has probable cause to believe a person illegally crossed the Rio Grande, that person could be charged with a Class B misdemeanor, which carries a punishment of up to six months in jail. For subsequent offenses, the person could be charged with a second-degree felony and face up to 20 years in prison.
If the migrant is convicted and has served their sentence, a judge would be required to order police to transport them to a port of entry. A judge could drop the charges if a migrant agrees to return to Mexico, and police could turn over migrant families to Border Patrol agents to avoid separating children from their parents instead of arresting them.

I bought a Waterpik from the grocery store last night. After I paid for it, no one at the store could remove the security spider. I stood there for 1/2 hour. They called this person and that person. During the ordeal I said, "There were several cops in the parking lot when I got here, maybe they're still here. I can go get one. " They told me "No".
Finally someone was able to disarm the darn thing.
However, somehow the make up that I had purchased got lost in the kerfuffle. So, I went back to the store and told them about the make up. They made me stand there for another 1/2 hour while they reviewed CCTV videos to see what had happened to the make up. Finally, it was time for the store to close, so they just let me replace the make up.
I vehemently complained to the girl in charge about their poor training. (Of course, she was one of the many who had tried to open it)
I intend to speak to the store manager about this. They must have had 10 people try to open that security spider. Don't they do training on removing these things from purchased items?
Why sell something if the customer can't leave the store with it?

Driving to Bastrop from San Antonio felt endless. I've never been to the town, but I have heard about it thanks to the drama between Elon Musk's many companies and the Bastrop community. While they haven't been on the best of terms, Musk added a new venture for the community last year in the form of a bodega.
The Boring Bodega is just that, a convenience store tucked right next to the Boring Company in Hyperloop Plaza. The store opened roughly two months ago and people weren't exactly thrilled when it did. MySA took a trip to the Boring Bodega to grab some snacks and see what all the fuss is about.
