Stuck to script, slammed China, slammed Obama, no Minneapolis, no COVID-19, slithered off

It's what I predicted this morning. No surprises here.

Rosanne Cash's daughter goes to buy groceries in Nashville, and...

rosanne cash
@rosannecash

My daughter lives in Nashville & wore her mask to buy groceries. Guy yells at her: ‘Liberal pussy!’ Back story: she nearly died of H1N1. She was in the ICU for a week, on a ventilator for 3 days. She CANNOT get covid. The ignorance & hatred is so painful. She’s trying to survive.

I've been somewhat absent on DU recently, here's why, but I AM still here...

...I've reached my limit on Trump, I can no longer share his bullshit.

I am 100% all in for Joe Biden in November.

But as far as sharing Trump's most recent incident of racism, sexism, misogyny...I can't do it any more, he wore me out. He's a vile pig, and I can no longer move his vile bullshit forward, even in the name of calling him out.

I'm still here, I will be with you through November, and beyond. VOTE, for Christ's sake. You know what's at stake. Save the perfect scenario and your dream candidate for AFTER we vote this pig out of office. Love you all, peace, let's DO THIS THING.

Trump: "They're wrapping themselves and the doors are opening and they're going through the doors"

“They are warriors, aren’t they?” Trump said during a speech at a medical equipment distribution center in Allentown, Pennsylvania. “When you see them going into those hospitals and they’re putting the stuff that you deliver, but they’re wrapping themselves and the doors are opening and they’re going through the doors and they’re not even ready to go through those doors. They probably shouldn’t.”

“They’re running into death just like soldiers run into bullets, in a true sense,” the president continued. “I see that with the doctors and the nurses and so many other people. They go into those hospitals, it’s incredible to see. It’s a beautiful thing to see. But I really call them ‘warriors.’ We’re all warriors; everyone in our country is a warrior.”

WaPo: "No plan to hold large-scale campaign events with Trump until at least August"

“The president’s physician and White House operations continue to work closely to ensure every precaution is taken to keep the president, first family and the entire White House complex safe and healthy at all times,” White House spokesman Judd Deere said. “In addition to social distancing, daily temperature checks and symptom histories, hand sanitizer, and regular deep cleaning of all work spaces, every staff member in proximity to the president and vice president is being tested daily for covid-19 as well as any guests.”

But the nervousness and concern among White House staffers became more palpable on Saturday, according to people familiar with the matter who, like others, spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the tensions. Now that Redfield and Hahn are staying away, some officials said they don’t know if they should keep going to work at the White House. Staffers who had potentially been in contact with Miller were still getting calls on Saturday from officials trying to gauge their exposure to the virus, according to one person who received a call.

The concerns are spreading to the Trump campaign, where a senior official said there was no plan to hold a large-scale campaign event with the president until at least August.

“It’s just not practical right now,” the official said, “to even try.”

SC Governor: All South Carolina restaurants can reopen for in-store dining Monday

https://www.wcnc.com/article/news/local/south-carolina-restaurants-reopen-monday-may-11/101-4bd52950-95f2-4bd9-a2fa-c4de6fbed274

COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster is going to allow all restaurants in the state to reopen for in-store dining on Monday, although there will be some strong restrictions.

McMaster made the announcement Friday afternoon during a news briefing. He said he would address "close contact" businesses such as barbershops, salons, and gyms on Monday.

“As we gradually and methodically lift restrictions aimed at combating the coronavirus, it is incumbent upon South Carolinians to follow to the guidance and recommendations provided by our public health experts to keep themselves and their loved ones safe,” said Gov. Henry McMaster. “This virus still presents a serious threat to South Carolinians, but I have faith in the people of our state and their ability to act responsibly and in the best interest of the communities they live in.”

However, McMaster said this does not mean every restaurant has to open. He said each business can decide if they feel comfortable opening then based on what they're experiencing.

McCarthy breaks with McConnell over Trump’s testing offer for Congress
The remarks from the top House Republican align with the president in opposition to the joint, bipartisan decision.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said Monday he disagreed with Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s decision to decline the Trump administration’s offer to provide Congress with rapid-results coronavirus testing.

“I do believe it would be critical to have the testing here because there will be a flare-up. Remember how many people from other parts of the country come to this location,” McCarthy (R-Calif.) told POLITICO Playbook authors Jake Sherman and Anna Palmer in a virtual interview.

The remarks from the top House Republican align with the president and break with the joint, bipartisan decision over the weekend by the Democratic speaker of the House and the Senate’s GOP leader.

Although Pelosi (D-Calif.) and McConnell (R-Ky.) said in a statement Saturday that lawmakers were “grateful” for the administration’s “generous offer,” they added that Congress “wants to keep directing resources to the front-line facilities where they can do the most good the most quickly.”
