In videos that documented the incident, protesters can be heard yelling: "Dirty Jew" and "you're a hater, you're going to die, you're going to hell," while others called on the thinker to "go home" "return to Tel Aviv."

MN Jewish leaders talked with Ilhan Omar about anti-Semitism last year. Why they remain frustrated

Ilhan Omar has been talked to about this before.

Last year, before she was elected to the House of Representatives, before she emerged from a crowded Democratic field in Minnesota’s liberal 5th Congressional District, leaders of Minneapolis’ Jewish community fashioned what could be described as an anti-Semitic intervention of Omar, a rising star of the left whose remarks had made many fellow Democrats in the Jewish community uncomfortable.

This is relevant because Omar, a freshman member of Congress, has come under fire this week after suggesting on Twitter that supporters of Israel in Congress are bought and paid for by a bipartisan pro-Israel lobbying group. To many, the remark went beyond a critique of money’s influence in politics and evoked the anti-Semitic myth that Jews seek to control the world via money.

The response by some, ranging from Chelsea Clinton to fellow Minnesotan U.S. Rep. Dean Phillips, a Jew representing a neighboring district, is to engage her in a type of educational discussion. Following what he described as an “impassioned face-to-face conversation with Omar,” Phillips concluded: “We agreed to move forward with a shared goal of working collaboratively to combat hatred and intolerance towards all persecuted communities, and commit to respectful debate of the issues important to each of us.”

Paris 2019 Berlin 1938? Antisemitic tag 'Juden' on window of Bagelstein shop in Paris

The word ‘’Juden’’ (Jews in German) was tagged on the window of a franchise of “Bagelstein” in Paris, a reminiscence of anti-Semitic inscriptions targeting Jewish businesses during the so-called ”Night of Cristal” (”Kristallnacht”) in 1938 in Nazi Germany.

CRIF, the umbrella representative group of Jewish institutions in France, shared the picture on twitter. ‘’Indignation and anger after the discovery yesterday of a vile anti-Semitic tag on the shop window of a Bagelstein shop. An act that recalls the darkest hours of history,’’ the group wrote.

A member of the French Parliament for the ruling ‘’La République en Marche’’ party, Elise Fajgeles called the tag ‘’unbearable’’ and made the connection with the yellow vests anti-government protest movement which was marked by several antisemitic incidents.

Cleveland Clinic doctor fired after making anti-Semitic statements online

The Cleveland Clinic released a statement Monday after reports began circulating online that a doctor at the hospital had been posting anti-Semitic sentiments on social media.

The doctor, who has been identified as Lara Kollab, 27, of Westlake, was a supervised resident. We’re told she is no longer employed by the clinic.

We reached out to the Cleveland Clinic and received the following statement:

“This individual was employed as a supervised resident at our hospital from July to September 2018. She is no longer working at Cleveland Clinic. In no way do these beliefs reflect those of our organization. We fully embrace diversity, inclusion and a culture of safety and respect across our entire health system.”

Kollab is no longer employed at the clinic, but her medical license remains active. Issued in Cuyahoga County in July 2018, it is valid until June 2021.

Documenting Hate: New American Nazis. PBS Frontline episode from last night.

https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/film/documenting-hate-new-american-nazis/

Our reporting has helped lead to multiple arrests, and tonight, we’ll bring you our second film in this series: Documenting Hate: New American Nazis.

Premiering at a special time (9 p.m. EST/8 p.m. CST – check local PBS listings), it’s an investigation of a violent neo-Nazi group called Atomwaffen Division that has actively recruited inside the U.S. military, and that calls for racially-motivated “lone wolf” attacks like the shooting last month at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh. In fact, our reporting in the past few days has shown that authorities are looking at the online relationship between the accused synagogue shooter and two neo-Nazi brothers with a connection to Atomwaffen.

ProPublica and A.C. are long-time collaborators with FRONTLINE. We turned to them after they established “Documenting Hate,” a cross-platform effort aimed at collecting and verifying hate crimes and bias incidents across the country.

“One thing that surprised me was the hard turn towards anti-Semitism among young people in the current white supremacist movement,” A.C. told me. “In the early days of this white power revival — say 2015, 2016 — the movement was animated by a discomfort with immigration and the changing demographics in America and disdain for Muslims. But pretty quickly the movement became immersed in anti-Jewish conspiracy theories, the same sort of twisted lore and logic that had motivated the hardcore racist fringe during the 1980s and 1990s — and for many, many years before that.”

Debra Messing Joins Alyssa Milano in Denouncing Women's March

Will & Grace star Debra Messing is the latest to speak out against the Women's March and the fact that its leaders, Tamika Mallory, Linda Sarsour, Carmen Perez, and Bob Bland, refuse to distance themselves from the vitriolic anti-Semitic, homophobic, and transphobic Louis Farrakhan.

Thursday night, Messing tweeted out an article from The Advocate in which #MeToo activist Alyssa Milano said she would not speak at the next Women's March as long as its leaders refuse to condemn Nation of Islam leader Farrakhan's anti-Semitism

“Any time that there is any bigotry or anti-Semitism in that respect, it needs to be called out and addressed. I’m disappointed in the leadership of the Women’s March that they haven’t done it adequately,” Milano told The Advocate last week when asked if she would speak at the next Women's March, given leaders Tamika Mallory and Linda Sarsour's association with a man who warrants his own page from the Southern Poverty Law Center, which monitors hate groups. “I would say no at this point. Unfortunate that none of them have come forward against him at this point. Or even given a really good reason why to support them."

Farrakhan's hatred of Jewish and LGBTQ people is well documented.
