I watched my loving sweet caring mother turn into a raging hate filled person I didn't know anymore after her last marriage and subsequent fox filled misinformation filled last 10 years of her life.
I've said for years now that I would NOT turn out like that.
I was standing on the porch a few minutes ago just drinking coffee watching the sun rise. Its early and my thoughts just flitted from one thought to another when it hit me. I HAVE turned out like that. I am filled with as much hate and rage and bitterness as my mother ended up being filled with. I'm ....... well, tears came to me with this realization but I don't think there's anything that can change it. I hate what I've become.
The source of my rage and hate came from the same place my mothers did too. fox and rush and hannity et al. (no, I will NOT capitalize those names!) Only difference is her animosity was from agreement with them and mine..... mine is for what they have done to us as a nation and as individuals.
They are good at what they do .... rush and hannity and carlson and fox and trump. They exist and profit from and because of lies and hate.
I'm very sad this morning to come to grips that they won, even with me. I am tired man, just so freaking tired.

Anyway..... I think this is wrong. But then, I never agree 100% with ...well.... lol, just about anyone. Pay particular attention to the sentence "Biden has raised concerns that investigations would further divide a country he is trying to unite ..." Well, in my opinion trying to "unite" us is a lost cause. The republican leadership has shown absolutely NO inclination for unity. On the contrary they seem to respect nothing but raw power. Their "base" is lost to us period. WE as a Nation face a grave threat in the rwnj's. Do you really think Joe can talk the Proud Boys and their ilk into unity? How about even just the rank and file republican voters? THEY just elected Qanon supporters for christs sake! Indeed, we'll have 2 minimum of these people making our laws! Can YOU unite with people like that? Can YOU unite with Proud Boys? Can YOU unite with Boogaloo supporters? The time for rose colored glasses is gone. We're fighting for the very idea of Democracy now. We're fighting for the Constitution now. Do we have the courage? The ones who want to do away with democracy and the Constitution sure do.
At what point does it become Sedition?
This is the question I've been asking myself for a long time now so figured I'd ask if this thought had been entertained by anyone else. This is a two part question/discussion and I would really like to hear from others their thoughts on this.
Yes, I understand the first amendment. At what point does "free speech" become sedition though?
Sedition: conduct or speech inciting people to rebel against the authority of a state or monarch.

We as a nation have almost always had certain limits on free speech, no yelling fire in a theater etc. and it can be argued that organizations (fox, oan, newsmax) and people (Alex Jones, Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson) are acting in much the same spirit. Not just now but for years. Those examples are iffy constitutionally but the case can be made in my opinion.
Now , part 2 of my thoughts.
How do these militias like the Proud Boys etc. NOT fall under the Seditious Conspiracy statute? They have taken up arms against lawful elected governments. Those "protesters" in Michigan who wanted to kidnap and kill the Governor? How about that Ammon Bundy crap from a few years ago? To ME at least those were textbook examples of seditious conspiracy. Why were they not charged and convicted as such?
Ok... that was my "discussion" part of this post now a thought from me. Hmmmm how to say this? I don't post much so bear with me if I my thoughts are a bit vague. Our bodies kind of have free speech in a form, as it lets in just about anything. But when a cancer or infection starts our white blood cells rush to contain and try to kill the thing that is trying to kill the body. Can we not do the same for the things/acts that are killing our political body? Hate radio is poisoning the minds of countless Americans. Can we do nothing to combat this? Fox pundits and others are attacking the very core of our Republic, are we just supposed to call off our allegorical white blood cells and let the poison/cancer run freely?

The GI Rights Network is a private, nonprofit, nongovernmental organization that answers thousands of calls from military personnel and their families.
If they think they have received an illegal order these people can help. Hell, they may want to call BEFORE that tbh. While JAG lawyers are top notch some feel more relaxed talking to civilians about certain topics.
As I've mentioned in a couple of other threads now , I truly believe any illegal orders from the new trump sycophants being installed in the DoD will be ignored by the vast majority of upper level command, the sickness that is trumpism runs deep and you cannot be too prepared.

After these last 4 years
After these last 4 years I will never be able to look at my fellow Americans the same. Even now when I ride the bus or see people at the store I think 4 of the next 10 people I see are either racist or just plain crazy. Probably both but at least one of the two. I'm extremely sorry to say that my Sister falls into the racist category and I have very strong suspicions that my Brother is a Qanon believer as well as racist. I also STRONGLY suspect he's a member of a militia there in Arizona. We don't communicate much but from our last conversation ,in person anyway as our e-mails are few and far between, the things he alluded to while not quite saying really gave me pause. They both are well aware of my political leaning and so we keep well away from those topics the few times we meet or converse.
Anyway..... I don't know why I am writing this except maybe to express my almost total disillusionment with both my blood family and my national family, for want to a better way to put it. The only thing that keeps me going sometimes is this site and the polls tbh.
There is something deeply wrong with our country if so many of us can be so hateful and so gullible.

Make that 8 to 3. That's the count on Moscow mitchs to Amy McGraths ads I've seen here in Louisville in the last few hours. EIGHT to THREE. I've read that Ms. McGrath has stopped fund raising because she has "enough" money. If that is the case..... I can only hope she's spending it in other parts of the state because she's getting slaughtered ad-wise here. This race is getable but damn, I'd sure like to know what's going on inside her campaign as far as strategy is concerned.

10,800 assault weapon seized in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Customs and Border Protection officers in Louisville seized more than 10,000 assault weapons that were being smuggled into the country.
On May 22, officers inspected a shipment heading for Melbourne, Florida manifested as containing 100 steel pin samples. Instead, they found 10,800 assault weapons appraised at $129,600.
Thomas Mahn, CBP's Louisville port director, said the weapons were knowingly mislabeled in hopes of avoiding any inspection.

Heading to Florida. Gearing up for the election or its aftermath?
Ok. This is only my second or third time starting a thread though I have been here a long time. I followed the guidelines from DU in posting it. I copy/pasted the exact headline as it appeared. I will also admit that I did not watch the attached news video as I rarely if ever watch "moving media" as I prefer text articles. As pointed out in some comments the written headline is misleading as it is parts that was confiscated. WHAS is one of the oldest, and around here anyway, most trusted of the local news media so I was confident in reporting it here in DU. I'm sorry for any confusion. Everything from "Ok" on is an edit after reading the comments posted so far and being a real noob at posting new things here I am leery of changing anything in front of that "Ok".
