Do you think GQP congressmen will clap when Biden

brings up supporting democracy by supporting Ukraine? Rachel Maddow asked her friends this question on MSNBC. I say they won't clap for anything that Biden says. Claire McCaskill thinks they will all clap.

Zelensky's address to EU

Skip to the -33 min mark. The longest standing ovation I have ever heard is after his speech.

"Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy today addressed a special session of European Union Parliament. Addressing the EU session in Ukrainian language, Zelenskyy delivered a few important takeaways:

- "We have proven our strength": "I don’t read from paper, the paper phase is over, we’re dealing with lives. Without you Ukraine will be alone. We've proven our strength; we’re the same as you."

Why can't planes be used to stop the long Russian convoy?

I still can't underatand why some country can't help to do this. Would it start a world war or is it against some foreign relations rule/treaty? Can't Ukranian pilots fly them in from a neighboring country? I don't get it.

Remember this GQP trip in 2018: "Seven GOP lawmakers make a misguided trip to Russia"

"The problem has less to do with seven congressional Republicans going to Russia for the 4th of July and more to do with what they did while they were there."

"Sen. Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala.) told Russia's foreign minister that while Russia and the United States were competitors, "we don't necessarily need to be adversaries." ... "I'm not here today to accuse Russia of this or that or so forth," Shelby told Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin."

"In addition to Shelby, who chairs the Senate Appropriations Committee and has limited foreign policy responsibilities, the official congressional delegation featured Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.), Sen. John Hoeven (R-N.D.), Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.), Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), and Rep. Kay Granger (R-Texas)."

"At issue is seven Republicans traveling to an adversary's capital less than two years after it launched an attack on our sovereignty. Did the Americans make the trip to take a firm stand against our attackers? Hardly. They had no interest in confronting Russian officials over their election interference, preferring instead to let bygones be bygones."

"There was no reason for the delegation to be partisan, but it was. There was no reason for these Republicans to give the Kremlin a pass on its misdeeds, but they did. There was no reason for the GOP lawmakers to downplay the significance of election meddling and the fate of Crimea in their discussions, but based on multiple accounts, they did that, too*"

Why is Rachel Maddow on now, during the Chris Hayes time slot?

I read on DU that she would be back tonight for a special appearance but I assumed it would be during her normal time slot.

About BigmanPigman

I am 57, retired teacher and illustrator, life-long dem., activist, union member. Also I do not use social media and I'm technologically retarded. I love dogs, rock music and swearing (a lot). My 17 year old "puppy" died on June 2, 2020. She grew up listening to Animals (Pink Floyd). She has kept me sane through the tRump years, not easy, and has given me endless love, companionship, kisses and tail wags.
