MAUREEN DOWD The Emperor of Chaos Has No Clothes

______

Republicans are blaming Donald Trump for anointing wacky candidates and then using campaign rallies to promote his upcoming presidential announcement. Republican lawmakers privately say those self-indulgent rallies cost them Senate and House seats because many normal Republicans and independents have had their fill of Trump and his crazy train.

The third time should be the charm. Since winning in 2016, Trump helped Republicans lose the House in 2018 and lose the White House and the Senate after the 2020 elections. Now he seems to have rescued Democrats from the traditional midterm shellacking — Republicans are barely within reach of a House majority and are watching their chance of controlling the Senate slip away. Trump has been poison for his party.

Polls showed that even many people unhappy with Joe Biden voted Democratic, a sign that Trump fatigue has finally set in. It’s so bad, the Murdoch empire has turned on its former fair-haired boy.

----

The moment feels reminiscent of Jan. 6 and its immediate aftermath. Republicans go crazy on Trump, say “enough is enough,” as Lindsey Graham did at that juncture, and act as if they’re ready to toss him aside. But it didn’t take long for “my Kevin,” as Trump called McCarthy, to make a groveling pilgrimage to Mar-a-Lago.

Ex-NYPD commissioner's rookie son promoted to detective age 23 after just 18 months as cop

https://nypost.com/2022/11/12/ex-nypd-commissioner-dermot-sheas-rookie-son-promoted-to-detective/

Former NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea’s rookie son landed a promotion after just 18 months as a cop — in a surprise move that has some in the department crying foul.

Richard Shea, 23, is getting moved from patrolman to a detective unit in NYPD’s 23rd precinct in East Harlem effective Monday, according to an internal NYPD memo obtained by The Post.

Shea joined the department in November 2020 and completed his six months at the police academy last May, according to his NYPD officer profile.

Since he began working his beat as a patrolman he’s racked up 32 arrests. He’s also received no awards and no additional training.

The fast-tracked promotion of a rookie fresh out of the police academy to an investigative unit is virtually unheard of, sources said.

“Nobody gets it that fast unless there’s an exceptional circumstance,” a police source told The Post. “You get into a shootout and your partner gets killed and you kill the bad guy. Then they’d probably bump you to detective. But he’s just out of the academy. What could he possibly know? It’s bullsh–t. You can’t get it in a year and a half.”

Long long NYTimes article about bike thefts in Vermont

The Bike Thieves of Burlington, Vermont
A hunt for stolen goods has put citizens and business owners in the center of a debate about policing and a growing, sometimes violent, problem with crime.

The group tracked its overnight journey across Burlington on an app. It was a “wild ride,” Ms. Williams said. The bike traveled along a busy thoroughfare leading out of the city, through empty parking lots, into the woods and then back downtown, where it finally came to rest in City Hall Park.

“The bike didn’t sleep at all,” Ms. Williams said.

In the morning, she called the police, eager to share her GPS data and ideas about the thefts. According to Ms. Williams, an officer was willing to retrieve the bike from the park, but that was the extent of it.

As Ms. Williams tagged along, the officer walked up to a group of people standing next to the bike and asked whether it belonged to anyone.

“Nope,” one of the people said.

“Perfect,” Ms. Williams remembered the officer saying.

Ms. Williams got the bike back, but the officer said staffing cuts in the department made it difficult to pursue minor crimes like bike theft.

Ms. Williams said the officer “didn’t have time for any of it.”

Some meth users are known to become fixated on stealing things — such as bikes.

Michael Hutchins, who moved to Florida last October to get away from the drug scene in Burlington, said some meth users he knew in Burlington stole bikes for transportation. “To get from Point A to Point B,” he said.

Others stole for the sheer thrill of taking something. Up for days without sleeping, some rode the bikes around with no real purpose. Mr. Davis said he had watched one bike change hands six times in the park.

If the Dems hadnt believed in the "red wave" also, could we have had a true blue wave?

News reported DNC giving up on races, moving funds around to shore up blue strongholds..basically throwing in the towel because red wave myth was believed

Did repubs benefit somewhat from red wave lie?

Woman with heart and kidney disease looking for hospital to do transplant on her unvaccinated body

Saw at freeperville

https://alphanews.org/mayo-denies-kidney-transplant-for-unvaccinated-patient/

Mayo Clinic has declined to consider a kidney transplant for an unvaccinated woman with stage-four kidney disease, she told Alpha News.

-----

“You have medical issues that need to be stabilized and/or improved prior to evaluation. The medical issues include: patient not willing to comply with the transplant team immunization requirements and recommendations,” the letter says.

Broten is a 46-year diabetic with heart disease. Now 53 years old, she suffered a heart attack in 2013 and was diagnosed with stage-three kidney disease. Her illness progressed a few weeks ago and she was told she needed a transplant.

Broten said her doctors referred her to the Mayo Clinic transplant program, which declined her request for a kidney transplant evaluation because of her vaccination status.

----

She said she spoke with a nurse from the transplant team who refused to continue the conversation when Broten said she wasn’t vaccinated against COVID-19.

“It infuriates me,” Broten said. “They won’t even put me on the organ list because I’m not vaccinated.”

Broten said she told her doctor that she won’t get the COVID-19 vaccine unless “you can prove that nothing will happen from it.”

“That should be my right,” she said, noting that she’s now searching for hospitals that will perform transplants on unvaccinated patients.
