How Jose Huizar's lavish Las Vegas jaunts tripped alarms for FBI in L.A. bribe case

But when Palazzo security learned one day in July 2015 that the billionaire developer was bringing Los Angeles politician Jose Huizar to Las Vegas that night on the resort’s luxury Gulfstream IV, it set off alarms.

As a City Council member, Huizar was what casinos call a “politically exposed person.” He could gamble at the Palazzo only after filing papers showing he was not using public funds.

Palazzo dealers kept close watch on Huang and Huizar when they arrived hours later in Parlor 8, a room for high rollers who typically bet with $25,000 and $100,000 chips.

------------

With Huang and Huizar arriving soon on the jet, Palazzo staff looked up the councilman in the casino’s records. They realized he had gambled at the Palazzo on the same nights as Huang on the developer’s previous visits, but had not filed the “politically exposed person” disclosures known as “PEP” papers.

And they found Huizar had never bought any of the casino’s gambling chips; his “total lifetime drop” at the Palazzo was zero. Yet he’d cashed out $36,500 in chips that someone else had bought and taken the money, according to the FBI.

Trumpy Colorado County Clerk Tina Peters Arrested After Resisting Search Warrant "LET GO OF ME!"

Tina Peters, the clerk of Mesa County, Colorado who’s long been suspected of involvement in a leak of county election machine data last year, was arrested Tuesday morning.

Local outlets reported the arrest soon after. A video from Kyle Clark, a journalist with local NBC affiliate 9 News, appeared to show the arrest occurring:

Peters is a celebrated figure among believers that the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump. The Colorado Secretary of State’s office successfully sued to have Peters and a deputy, Belinda Knisley, removed from election duties last year after sensitive digital information from Mesa County’s voting machines was shared online by a prominent QAnon influencer, and in-person at Mike Lindell’s “Cyber Symposium” in Sioux Falls in August.

Single mother faces prison for letting her 14 year old babysit

Melissa Henderson, a single mother-of-five, is charged with criminal reckless conduct after she let her children under the care of her eldest child, 14-year-old Linley, in May 2020 when COVID shut down their daycare center.

Linley was reportedly engaging in online learning and did not notice that her four-year-old brother, Thaddeus, had slipped out of the house when he saw his friend outside and went to play with him in Blairsville, Georgia.

Within about 10 to 15 minutes, Linley noticed he was gone and found him at his friend's house down the street.

But in the meantime the friend's mom called the police, and about two weeks later, Henderson was arrested in front of her children, according to Reason Magazine.

----------

Immediately following the incident, FOX News reports, police took down her information, but returned nearly two weeks later with five fleet cars after the arresting officer, Deputy Sheriff Marc Pilote, discovered that Thaddeus had previously wandered outside.

Bison herd runs OVER car

bison herd trapped between vehicles heading in opposite directions and surrounded by dangerous icy snow along a snow-covered Alaskan road faced a no-way-out situation.

After pausing, the herd turned around and stormed toward the headlines illuminating the roadway and terrorized the driver. The result was not pretty.

Kurt Schmidt was videotaping the encounter and, though it was dark and you don’t see the destruction taking place, you definitely hear it. Make sure to turn up the volume.

The 'but Hillary's emails' crowd goes silent about Trump's document destruction

If you didn’t know any better, you might think they were from the 2016 presidential campaign.

Remember when, in October 2016, House Republicans launched a series of hearings attacking the then-Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton over her emails?

Given these bombshell revelations, coupled with their concern for federal government record-keeping compliance, you would think Republicans would be foaming at the mouth, chanting “Lock Him Up” and calling for an immediate series of hearings and subpoenas to be issued to anyone who was a part of the Trump White House.

And yet, nothing. Crickets. Silence.

Jim Jordan isn’t grand-standing on Fox News calling Donald Trump incompetent or a liar or “absolutely wrong.”

House Republicans aren’t clamoring for an FBI or Department of Justice investigation into the destruction of official records and use of personal devices.

The very Republicans who led the charge for investigations into Clinton’s emails don’t have a damn thing to say about what Trump and other senior administration officials did in apparent violation of the Presidential Records Act (PRA).

Cop Shoots four Bystanders by Mistake Trying to Stop Car Thief

A police officer in Georgia has been placed on administrative leave after shooting multiple innocent people while firing at an alleged car thief.

The Columbus Police Department issued a press release Monday explaining the situation.

The press release did not mention the name of the officer or the alleged thief.

On February 7, the officer was investigating a vehicle in the area of Riverland Drive that was suspected of being stolen.

The driver of the vehicle drove toward the officer in an attempt to flee the scene. The officer then pulled out his weapon in the direction of the suspect and fired.

The suspect was able to flee the scene and elude the police. Police later found individuals who were struck by gunfire. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate the incident.

Her Husband Boasted That She Became 'Speaker of the House' on Jan. 6. Now She's Been Sentenced

Her Husband Boasted That She Became ‘Speaker of the House’ on Jan. 6. Now She’s Been Sentenced to a Year of Probation

Nicole Prado, 30, spent around 20 minutes inside the Capitol on Jan. 6, when scores of Donald Trump supporters overran police to breach the building in order to stop Congress from certifying Joe Biden‘s win in the 2020 presidential election.

-----------

In investigating Prado’s role in the Capitol attack, the FBI discovered a private Instagram conversation about Prado between two then-unidentified people that took place on Jan. 7.

“[They] ain’t gonna go after Nicole,” one of the users, who is unidentified in FBI documents, said in a private Instagram conversation.

Prado’s husband was similarly effusive of Prado’s participation in the Capitol breach.

“Please meet the new Congresswoman…she was in the Capitol…She stormed the Capitol… She’s the Speaker of the House,” her husband said in a video posted to Instagram after she left the Capitol building.

A photojournalist was caught on camera staging a shot, and the backlash was swift

Maranie Staab, an independent photojournalist who contributes to Getty Images, has been accused of staging a photo in a now viral video on Twitter. The video purports to show Staab instructing a child to throw a mask into a burning barrel at the anti-mask protest, the “Mask BBQ Party,” in Portland, Oregon.

The video and resulting image—which has since been pulled from Getty—can be viewed below. Note: the Tweet thread contains strong language.

Staab was shooting photos at the Mask BBQ Party outside the Oregon Health Authority building in Portland on January 20th of this year. (She has covered Portland’s protests for the past few years, and was assaulted by “anti-fascists” protestors in August last year.)

In the video, Staab (wearing a mask) is seen standing beside a burning barrel talking to a woman and child. There are several other anti-mask protesters nearby, and a group of masked counter-protesters across the road.

A man off-camera says, “Does anyone have an extra mask we can throw out?”

The woman says to the child, “This lady is going to take a picture of you.”

DHS employee faked official letter to daughter's employer to solicit financial settlement

A Virginia man admitted that while he was employed by the Department of Homeland Security, he and his wife wrote a letter on fake State Department letterhead and impersonated an official in order to threaten a French couple who had employed their daughter as an au pair in Southern France.

--------

"The defendant's daughter alleged that she was mistreated by the Madiot family," court documents explained, without detailing the allegations of mistreatment.

"After hearing of these complaints from their daughter, the defendant and his wife together created a fraudulent letter to send to the Madiots," the filing said.

The counterfeit correspondence falsely informed the French couple that a "formal complaint" had been filed against them with the State Department for their alleged mistreatment, and it warned that they could be denied entry into the U.S. because of the claim.

Further, "[t]he letter implied that a 'financial settlement' paid to the Karau's daughter would be in the best interest of the Madiots," the filings reveal.

Upon their receipt of the note, the French couple was described as "deeply concerned for any legal or other consequences they might face," and contacted the French Embassy in Washington, D.C., which brought the issue to the U.S. Embassy in Paris.
