Demovictory9's Journal'You don't look like thugs': Video shows teacher's racist Zoom lesson on George Floyd
According to school officials, a teacher in Fairbanks, Alaska, was recently put on administrative leave following callous comments made in a class discussion about George Floyd. In one of the comments, she blames Floyd for his own death.
The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District had not publicly named the teacher; however, a 15-minute video identified the woman speaking as Ms. Gardner. Connie Gardner is listed as a special education teacher at Lathrop High, per KTOO.
----
I do not agree that the Chauvin guy was right. I think he abused his authority, and I think he went too far, Gardner says. And I think that he was complicit in George Floyds death. I think that there were many factors that contributed to it, and that was one of them.

However, she implies that Floyd would be alive if he had complied with Chauvins orders.
Im an old white lady, and if the cops came up to me and said, Maam, put your hands behind your back, youre going to jail,' Gardner says. Im putting my hands behind my back.
That was just one of the many problematic comments. Per KUAC, she also inferred that certain clothing would keep Black people alive: Look at how you guys are dressed. Youre dressed nicely. You dont look like thugs. You dont have your pants down around your knees.
One of the students parents also watching the class directly challenged Gardner on her racist comments.

Deeply concerning video surfaces, Massena police officer suspended without pay
MASSENA, N.Y. (WWNY) - Video has surfaced of a Massena police officer at a private home and it appears that officer purposely rams a door into the side of a car.
The villages police chief says that officer, Brandon Huckle, is suspended without pay and we know the district attorney is involved.
Its a video garnering a lot of attention on Facebook. Massena police officer Brandon Huckle looking like hes intentionally damaging a vehicle while executing a search warrant on March 16.
It was posted by lawyer Brian Barrett. He says the car belongs to someone hes defending in court on drug charges.
He notes Huckle has been investigated before.
Whats scary to me is that the Massena Police Department cant get rid of this guy and that it sounds like theres a pattern of misconduct with this officer, said Barrett.
Some people said they started bathing less during the pandemic
See Fewer People. Take Fewer Showers. Some people said they started bathing less during the pandemic. As long as no one complains, they say they plan to keep the new habit.
Robin Harper, an administrative assistant at a preschool on Marthas Vineyard, grew up showering every day.
Its what you did, she said. But when the coronavirus pandemic forced her indoors and away from the general public, she started showering once a week.
The new practice felt environmentally virtuous, practical and freeing. And it has stuck.
Dont get me wrong, said Ms. Harper, 43, who has returned to work. I like showers. But its one thing off my plate. Im a mom. I work full-time, and its one less thing I have to do.
-----------------
Parents have complained that their teenage children are forgoing daily showers. After the British media reported on a YouGov survey that showed 17 percent of Britons had abandoned daily showers during the pandemic, many people on Twitter said they had done the same.
Heather Whaley, a writer in Redding, Conn., said her shower use had fallen by 20 percent in the past year.
After the pandemic forced her into lockdown, Ms. Whaley, 49, said she began thinking about why she was showering every day.

Australian man convicted of possessing child sex dolls, sentenced to probation
An Australian man has been convicted of possessing child sex dolls under new laws to combat abuse against minors.
Terry Dunnett, 45, pleaded guilty Wednesday in District Court in Brisbane to two counts of possessing a child sex doll, one count of attempting to possess a child sex doll and possessing child exploitation material, abc.net.au reported.
The Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team in Queensland began investigating Dunnett in January 2020 after the Australian Border Force detected an anatomically-correct doll in a shipment from China addressed to him.
When officers raided his Brisbane home, they discovered two other girl dolls depicting ages estimated to be between 4 and 5 years old,
Prosecutors sought a jail sentence, but Dunnetts lawyer argued that a community-based sentence would be appropriate after a psychologist determined he was a low risk of actually committing a crime against a child.
Judge Orazio Rinaudo sentenced Dunnett to two years behind bars, but then ordered his immediate release under probation supervision.

Video: CT firefighter resigns after 'let them die' comment at BLM rally about overdose victims

GLASTONBURY A local firefighter has resigned after making a upsetting statement about overdose victims during a rally over the weekend, fire officials announced Wednesday.
Video footage from the Black Lives Matter rally shows one of the counter-protesters, identified by those who organized the event as firefighter James Stanley, and a protester get into a heated discussion about Narcan one of the brand names of the nasal spray naloxone, used to reverse the effects of some drug overdoses.
Its unclear how long their exchange lasted before and after the footage.
I think you get rid of (expletive) Narcan, and when people overdose, you let them die, Stanley can be heard saying in the footage, recorded by Ivelisse Correa-Ojeda and shared by the organizers in a press release to the media and on social media.
Correa-Ojeda, and others, can be heard reacting to Stanleys comment as she tells him doing that would impact the suburban communities, not just cities. The footage cuts off as it appears Stanley is about to respond.

Wildlife Care Center/Huntington takes in the orphaned ducklings... 1000s from Disneyland & backyards
Orphaned ducklings find lettuce and love at Huntington Beach wildlife centerAround this time every year, the Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center in Huntington Beach is filled with quacking from hundreds of ducklings orphaned during spring baby season.
In part because of the coronavirus pandemic, this spring has been especially busy. The center is seeking help from community members to feed and care for more than 500 young birds, operations manager Debbie Wayns said.
For whatever reason, these ducklings were abandoned by mom, or mom was killed, and so then these babies arent old enough to survive on their own, so they were brought to us either by the public or by animal control, Wayns explained.
More baby mallards are expected soon from nearby Disneyland, which usually drops off thousands every year so they are out of harms way at the busy theme park, Wayns said.
Last year, with the park closed because of the pandemic, the center didnt get any ducklings from Disneyland.
With Disneyland reopening last Friday, Wayns expects to receive truckloads of ducklings again.

Intrigued Twitter users, along with an employee behind the U.S. Fish and Game Twitter account have weighed in, with at least four people making jokes about how the womans home should now be referred to as a condorminium.
Tell your mom to give in and hand over the elk carcass, one commenter wrote. They know she has it.
Other users called out specific condors by number. 52 I expect this of (total bad girl) but to see 96 involved is really disappointing, one user wrote.
