it takes a village to get a cat out of a tree

?v=9ea1ebcaf760aade1511

WESTFIELD, NJ — Sometimes, it “takes a village.”

For six days, several Westfield families were keeping a watchful eye on a cat that appeared to be stuck in a tree. There were two unsuccessful attempts by the Westfield Fire Department to get her down, with the theory that the noise of the truck frightened her, and she retreated further.

An EMT came by and tried to lure her down with food. Neighbors came together to fashion a pulley bucket system, with water and cat food (and a shrimp thrown in with the hope that the smell would tempt her). The cat would get close but not quite close enough to get her down. A flurry of posts shared on Facebook groups solicited suggestions and attempted to find out if the cat had an owner.

The branches of the tree spread out over several properties, including the childhood home of Jane Anderson, who currently lives in Rahway Avenue, but spends a lot of time at her parents’ Westfield home on Cherokee Court. Anderson got in touch with Irma Cardoso, who has volunteered for cat rescues for many years.

On Monday, Cardoso convinced her brother Alex, owner of Loyalty Tree Service in Westfield, to try and help her rescue the cat. Alex Cardoso and his employee Nino arrived at the site, where Nino climbed the tree using ropes and shoe spikes.

“The neighbors were all outside holding towels out in case the cat fell,” said Anderson. “Nino started up the tree around 12:30, and 15 minutes later, she’d been rescued.”

11-year-old dies after father, stepmother forced him to drink 64 ounces of water, police say

An 11-year-old boy is dead after officials said his father and stepmother forced him to drink 64 ounces of water daily because of bedwetting.

Court documents allege Zachary Sabin was in trouble with Ryan Sabin and Tara Sabin for not drinking enough. He was told to drink more and eventually died from forced water intoxication, according to the El Paso Coroner, KXRM reported.

Tara Sabin said her stepson had a hereditary urological condition that made him wet the bed. When the urine was dark, she said she and her husband told Zachary to drink 64 ounces of water per day. Before Zachary’s death, Tara Sabin said her stepson was sipping water and throwing it up, The Gazette in El Paso, Colorado, reported.

According to Tara Sabin, Ryan Sabin told his son he was throwing it up because he was drinking it slowly and allowing air to build up, so he told his son to chug the water as he does in the Army as the family ate dinner, the newspaper reported.

Tara Sabin believed the boy was being dramatic. As the other children went to bed, Zachary remained in the kitchen and started throwing a temper tantrum. She said Ryan Sabin kicked the boy twice to get him up off the floor. He also picked the boy up, but Zachary dropped to the ground, hitting his head, the affidavit stated. Ryan Sabin then took his son outside to expose him to cold air to get the tantrum to stop, The Gazette reported.

Zachary eventually fell asleep, but not before walking around the kitchen making noises and staring at a wall.

His father and stepmother were charged with first-degree murder, child abuse resulting in death and misdemeanor child abuse. They turned themselves into the El Paso County Jail Tuesday, KXRM reported.

Because of MAIL-IN BALLOTS, 2020 will be the most RIGGED Election in our nations history - unless this stupidity is ended. We voted during World War One & World War Two with no problem, but now they are using Covid in order to cheat by using Mail-Ins!

People Have Stopped Going to the Doctor. Most Seem Just Fine.
Do Americans really need the amount of treatment that our health care system is used to providing?

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/22/opinion/coronavirus-reopen-hospitals.html?action=click&module=Opinion&pgtype=Homepage

As stay-at-home orders ease and cities reopen for business, many doctors and hospital administrators are calling for a quick return of health care to pre-pandemic levels. For months now, routine care has been postponed. Elective procedures — big moneymakers — were halted so that hospitals could divert resources to treating Covid-19 patients. Routine clinic visits were canceled or replaced by online sessions. This has resulted in grievous financial losses for hospitals and clinics. Medical practices have closed. Hospitals have been forced to furlough employees or cut pay.

Most patients, on the other hand, at least those with stable chronic conditions, seem to have done OK. In a recent survey, only one in 10 respondents said their health or a family member’s health had worsened as a result of delayed care. Eighty-six percent said their health had stayed about the same.

Admittedly, postponing health care had terrible health consequences for some patients with non-Covid-19 illnesses, such as those with newly diagnosed cancers that went untreated because outpatient visits were canceled, or because patients avoided going to the hospital out of fear of contracting the coronavirus. The spike in deaths in major cities like New York during the crisis almost certainly includes such patients.

Still, a vast majority of patients seem to have fared better than what most doctors expected. It will probably take years to understand why. Perhaps patients mitigated the harm of delayed care by adopting healthful behaviors, such as smoking less and exercising more. Perhaps the huge increases in stress were balanced out by other things, such as spending more time with loved ones.

“So you’re out of prison and you’re comfortably shopping in Cub Foods as if you didn’t do anything?” the woman who recorded the video asks Kueng.
The former police officer, who is holding a pack of Oreos, tells the woman he is shopping for “necessities.”

“I don’t think you should have that right,” the woman replies. “I don’t think you should be out on bail.”

“I’m sorry you feel that way,” Kueng says after saying he can understand why the woman said that.

“No you’re not sorry!” the woman says. “You’re literally out here, comfortably as if you didn’t kill that man? Did you think people weren’t going to recognize you?”

“You don’t have the right to be here. You killed somebody in cold blood. You do not have the right to be here.”

When Kueng says he will leave the store, the woman replies “No, we don’t want you to get your stuff. We want you to be locked up!”

“You’re not going to be able to comfortably go around Minnesota like this,” the woman tells Kueng.

As Kueng waited in line to check out, the woman asks how he afforded his $750,000, but he does not respond.
