Although the zoo’s director, Mohamed Sultan, insisted his zebras were 100 percent legit to local radio station Nogoum FM, a local vet told the Cairo-based ExtraNews.TV that a zebra’s snout should be black and the stripes should be more consistent and parallel, according to the BBC.

CBS News also notes that zebras and donkeys, despite both bearing a resemblance to horses, are different species.

Other zoos have also been accused of trying to gray the area between zebras and donkeys.

In 2010, a zoo in Gaza painted stripes on two donkeys it purchased for $700 because they were much cheaper than the $30,000 zebras.

holy moly! Don't disrespect this employee's mother! Don't get a water cup and take soda

https://nypost.com/2018/07/26/mcdonalds-worker-beats-up-milkshake-throwing-customer/

A brutal video of a McDonald’s worker beating up a female customer who apparently “disrespected” her mom surfaced on Thursday.

The video begins with the visitor throwing a milkshake at the employee who is angrily marching toward her.

The worker grabs the woman, who is wearing just a small black tank top and gray shorts, and starts pounding her head on a table.

The worker throws the customer around so brutally that one of her breasts falls out of her top.

The larger woman then pummels the milkshake thrower with wild, swinging blows before tossing her onto a cushioned seat.

At this point, other employees try to get between the two women as the very one-sided fight rages on.

Another employee, wearing a blue shirt, eventually restrains the battered patron but gets an elbow in the face for her effort.

The first worker tells her: “My momma ain’t dead, you respect my momma.”

In a last-ditch effort, the customer picks up a chair, but the waitress disarms her with ease.

The video was uploaded to Instagram by another customer who wrote: “So this happened at McDonald’s.”

poll: older white men looove Trump, young white women, all afri americans, all hispanics hate him,

interactive chart allows user to pick combination of age, gender, race, education

https://www.civiqs.com/results/approve_president_trump?annotations=true&net=false&uncertainty=true

some highlights.

african americans are totally done with trump. disapproval across all age groups is 93% to 94%. started about 90% after election and has never dipped.

Hispanics have been consistent also... no wavering lines, even with recent events regarding immigration and children: two thirds or more of each age group and gender hate him, with women hating him about 5% more.

Among whites is when the gender / age split happens. white women younger than 50 approve, older than 50 disapprove. white men younger than 35 disapprove, older than 35 approve.

young white females disapprove of trump with 30 percent gap, older white males (50-64) approve with 30 percent gap.. the reverse of each other

Other is interesting (Asians?), strongly disapprove of Trump

47% of CA Republican voters won't vote in the senate race in the dem vs dem senate contest in nov.

California has a "two highest vote getters" election system, that locked the GOP out this year.

http://www.latimes.com/politics/essential/la-pol-ca-essential-politics-may-2018-feinstein-maintains-lead-in-senate-race-1532578392-htmlstory.html

The poll found that 47% of Republicans and 24% of independents say they don’t plan to vote in the Senate race at all.

Feinstein leads De León with support from 66% of Democrats and 38% of independents and leads in all demographic categories, including ethnicity, gender, geography and education.

Feinstein received 44% of the vote in the June primary and has a dominant lead in fundraising as she seeks a fifth full term in the U.S. Senate.

The survey of 1,711 California adult residents took place between July 8 and July 17. The margin of sampling error was plus or minus 3.4 percentage points.

President Donald Trump lies to everyone; his supporters lie to themselves

https://www.azcentral.com/story/opinion/op-ed/ej-montini/2018/07/21/donald-trump-hillary-clinton/808928002/

Opinion: What if Hillary Clinton had won the election and said the same things?

Is it journalism or silly nitpicking to point out that President Donald Trump has been lying lately about where his father was born?

Last week I wrote a blog post pointing out that among Trump’s most recent lies is one in which he says his father was born in Germany. That isn’t true.

I heard from readers about that post pretty quickly. For example, one supporter of the president wrote: “He ‘lied’ about his dad’s birthplace? That’s the best you got, Eddie? That’s not journalism. That’s desperation.”

Actually, it’s journalism.

----

No fear of being caught
First, Trump has to know he’s not telling the truth. Second, he has to know how easily the lie can be exposed. And third, he clearly doesn’t care.

The president’s lies keep coming, and the people in a position to do something about it — Republicans in Congress — do nothing.

And the people who can do something about the Republicans in Congress — voters — do nothing.

The Republican-controlled government under President Donald Trump has gone full-blown “1984.” Or, as George Orwell wrote in the novel: “The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”

YouTube deletes four Alex Jones videos and gives him one strike

https://money.cnn.com/2018/07/25/technology/alex-jones-infowars-youtube-strike/index.html

YouTube has deleted four videos posted by InfoWars founder Alex Jones, the controversial online personality famous for peddling conspiracy theories, and issued a "strike" against him.

The strike means Jones cannot livestream content for three months. Should he receive a second strike within that timeframe, YouTube will bar him from uploading new content for two weeks. YouTube deletes accounts after a third strike within that time period.

The videos uploaded to The Alex Jones Channel contained hate speech directed toward Muslims, among other groups; one featured the headline, "How to prevent liberalism" and showed an adult shoving a child to the ground. In a blog post, InfoWars said YouTube claimed all four videos had violated its "policy on violent or graphic content."

applicants are not showing for interviews, not showing for 1st day on job in strong job market

A growing number are "ghosting" their jobs: blowing off scheduled job interviews, accepting offers but not showing up the first day and even vanishing from existing positions – all without giving notice.

While skipping out on appointments and work has always happened on occasion, the behavior is “starting to feel like a commonplace” occurrence, says Chip Cutter, editor-at-large at LinkedIn, the job and social networking site, who has studied hiring practices.

While no one formally tracks such antics, many businesses report that 20 to 50 percent of job applicants and workers are pulling no-shows in some form, forcing many firms to modify their hiring practices.

“You’re seeing job candidates with more options,” says Dawn Fay, district president of staffing firm Robert Half for the New York City area. “It’s definitely influencing their behavior.”

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/07/20/workers-skip-interviews-blow-off-work-in-a-strong-job-market-.html

Ghosting is happening across industries and occupations, Fay says. It was always somewhat of an issue for lower-paying jobs in construction, manufacturing and truck driving, says Alex Riley, president of Merit Hall, a Detroit staffing agency. Now, he says, up to 20 percent of white-collar workers in those industries are taking part in the disappearing acts.

To some extent, employees are giving employers a taste of their own medicine. During and after the Great Recession of 2007 to 2009, when unemployment reached 10 percent, many firms ignored job applicants and never followed up after interviews.

“Candidates were very frustrated because they felt employers were ghosting on them,” Fay says.

Officer helps homeless man shave before job interview at McDonald's (he got the job)

If "character" is what you do when you don't know anyone's watching, then Tallahassee, Florida, police officer Tony Carlson's character is solid gold.

"We've seen so many negative things referenced to the police and with some of the actions taken place, it's nice that something positive was caught on film," Carlson said.

Last Sunday afternoon, Carlson had just finished a call and was in a gas station parking lot, when he came upon a homeless man named Phil.

"Wen I got out of my car he asked me if I knew anything about electric razors and that it was broken, he was trying to get it to work, if I could help him," Carlson said.

While Carlson fixed it, Phil told him if he could just clean himself up, the McDonald's next door had promised him a job. The repair was successful, so Phil tried to shave.

"He was trying to shave, obviously outside, didn't have a mirror or anything and he was just getting patch after patch and it wasn't going too well," Carlson said. "I said, 'Hey Phil if you want me to do that, here I can get it done a lot quicker than you sitting here struggling with it."

A stranger with a cell phone saw what was going on, posted it on Facebook and the good deed went viral.
