https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/terrifying-moment-man-tries-snatch-13075581This is the terrifying moment a man grabs a little girl out walking with her mum and refuses to let go.
He lunged towards the seven-year-old and yanked her backpack so hard she was lifted off her feet.
The youngster's panicking mother held on to her daughter's arms in a desperate bid to save her child.
CCTV images from the Neihu district in Taiwanese capital Taipei shows the mum, named in local reports as
Mrs Wu, walking the child home from school when the man strikes.
The suspect, 33-year-old Chou, who worked as a lifeguard at a local swimming pool, later claimed it was a case of 'mistaken identity'.

Gov. Scott Walker warns his GOP base that he may start out behind in the general election
https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/politics/elections/2018/08/13/scott-walker-warns-gop-base-he-may-start-out-behind-general-election/979795002/WISCONSIN RAPIDS GOP Gov. Scott Walker is warning supporters that he may be trailing at the outset of the general election campaign, no matter who wins Tuesdays Democratic primary.
You could have Daffy Duck on the ballot for the Democrats, and theyll start out with at least 48% of the vote, Walker said at a campaign stop in central Wisconsin on Saturday.
That joke was a stark commentary on how divided the governor believes this state is, and on the challenges he thinks he faces winning a third term.
Walker has spent months working to fire up his political base, calling this his toughest race ever, warning of a possible blue wave this fall.
In recent days, he has told partisan crowds that whoever wins Tuesdays eight-way Democratic primary for governor may well begin the general election campaign ahead of Walker.
I wouldnt be surprised if, after the primary, we were down, Walker said in an interview. Any time somebody wins, particularly a highly visible primary, they are likely to get a bump.
Walker trailed his best-known Democratic opponent, state school superintendent Tony Evers, in two public polls last month. GOP strategists questioned those results, but the governor now seems to be bracing his supporters for the first batch of post-primary surveys.
---------------------------------------
I see a hyper-enthusiasm on the other side, largely by the far, far left. You get people who dont just want to win, they want to decimate me, said Walker in the interview. Theyll walk through fire to get out and vote.
-------
When supporters on the campaign trail hear Walker call this the race of our lifetime or the toughest election Ive ever been involved in or even tougher than the recall, some are surprised, because they are so used to him winning and they remember the ferocity of the recall fight.
But others say they share the governors concern.
Ive never come out to something like this before. Thats how important I think it is, said Katie Edwards, a retired nurse from Black River Falls who went to see Walker at the Clark County Fair in Neillsville.
Theyre motivated because of anger, Matt Anthony, who came to see Walker in Wisconsin Rapids, said of Democrats.
This is going to be (his) toughest race, said Anthony.

Chatchai Sam Panuthai wore a pink lace dress to greet his two sons, Imsome, 3, and Ozone, 5, at a school event ahead of Mothers Day, which is celebrated on Aug. 12 in Thailand. Kornpat Ae Sukhom, a close friend of Panuthai, caught the entire incident on camera and posted it to Facebook on Aug. 9.
The video shows Panuthai and Ozone at the schools Mothers Day ceremony. During these ceremonies, children usually kneel at their moms feet as a sign of gratitude for all she has done, BuzzFeed News reported. Sukhoms video quickly went viral and received over 6,000,000 views as of Monday morning.

Kornpat told BuzzFeed News that Chatchai decided to wear a dress to the event because he didn't want his sons to feel left out because their mother couldn't attend.

A new group of black business executives said Monday that it will spend millions of dollars in the midterm elections backing candidates who champion economic causes benefiting African-Americans.
The group, Black Economic Alliance, is officially nonpartisan, but it is backing four Democrats in its first round of endorsements: Sen. Tim Kaine in Virginia and gubernatorial candidates Stacey Abrams in Georgia, Ben Jealous in Maryland and Richard Cordray in Ohio.
--------------
Organizers said the group will invest in competitive midterm elections in states and districts with large African-American populations where turnout of black voters could prove decisive.
Citing economic disparities that have long disadvantaged black people in the United States, Coles, chairman and chief executive officer of Yumanity Therapeutics, said, We dont think that the stakes could be higher for economic issues affecting black Americans.
Obviously, as we support and advantage black Americans, all other low-income groups will benefit from this as well, he said. This is a pebble that we expect will have a ripple in a very big pond.

Trump administration has thrown the weight of the Federal Government behind making it harder to vote
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/12/us/voting-rights-voter-id-suppression.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=photo-spot-region®ion=top-news&WT.nav=top-newsWASHINGTON A new voter ID law could shut out many Native Americans from the polls in North Dakota. A strict rule on the collection of absentee ballots in Arizona is being challenged as a form of voter suppression. And officials in Georgia are scrubbing voters from registration rolls if their details do not exactly match other records, a practice that voting rights groups say unfairly targets minority voters.
During the Obama administration, the Justice Department would often go to court to stop states from taking steps like those. But 18 months into President Trumps term, there are signs of change: The department has launched no new efforts to roll back state restrictions on the ability to vote, and instead often sides with them.
Under Attorney General Jeff Sessions, the department has filed legal briefs in support of states that are resisting court orders to rein in voter ID requirements, stop aggressive purges of voter rolls and redraw political boundaries that have unfairly diluted minority voting power all practices that were opposed under President Obamas attorneys general.
The Sessions departments most prominent voting-rights lawsuit so far forced Kentucky state officials last month to step up the culling from registration rolls of voters who have moved.
-----
The Trump administration wants to make it harder to vote, and theyve thrown the weight of the federal government behind that, said Lisa M. Manheim, an associate professor and election-law scholar at the University of Washington School of Law. Its hard to justify some of these measures as anything but an attempt to entrench Republicans in office.
-----------
Whatever the Justice Department does next, conservatives said they were heartened by the new direction it has taken under Mr. Sessions.
Were happy with what weve seen done, said Mr. Churchwell of the Public Interest Legal Foundation.
