Sting has 'no truck' with his rock peers who oppose vaccines: 'I'm old enough to remember polio'

Are you optimistic about the return of live music? The Delta variant has complicated things.
We’re in a wait-and-see mode. Everyone should feel safe — the audience, the artist, the people working the show. I’m hoping the vaccines will really start to kick in by the time our show starts. I’m very much in favor of vaccines.

I assume you’re vaccinated.

I had no doubt about it. I’m old enough to remember polio — kids in my street who were crippled by a disease that was eradicated very quickly by vaccines. So I have no truck with people who doubt their effectiveness.

Some of your peers in the music world have a different take, Eric Clapton and Van Morrison among them.
We’re all entitled to our opinions. But I think that’s a dangerous thing to be telling people: “Don’t trust the vaccines.” I mean, where does this come from? I’m not sure where the science is to support that.

Repairs of sf millenial tower halted after it sinks an inch in one week!!

San Francisco's Millennium Tower fix halted after further sinking observed

The major construction fix to stop San Francisco's beleaguered Millennium Tower from sinking further into the earth has been halted after the building suddenly sunk another inch within a few weeks, as first reported by NBC Bay Area.

The $100 million “perimeter pile upgrade” project began in November, and was seen as a final resolution to the lopsided building's woes after an inspection in 2018 revealed the northwest corner had descended at least 18 inches into the bay fill at Mission and Fremont streets.

The fix has been likened to putting a bumper jack next to a flat tire, and involves the installation of piles 250 feet deep along the north and west sides of the tower, to be tied beneath the sidewalk to the original foundation.

That plan has now been put on pause after the unexpected sinking observed in recent weeks.

NBC's report claims that after thirty-nine piles of the 52 piles had been installed, something then went "seriously wrong." That alleged sudden drop of an inch on the Fremont Street side occurred after crews had reportedly drilled half way down to bedrock to install new piles, and translates to five inches of lean on the 58th floor.

guilty of third degree misdemeanor assault... that drill sgt who shoved the young black man in april

Army drill sergeant who shoved Black man found guilty of misdemeanor assault

A U.S. Army drill sergeant caught on camera shoving a young Black man in South Carolina was found guilty Monday of third-degree misdemeanor assault.

Jonathan Pentland, 42, must either spend 30 days in jail or pay a $1,087 fine.

Pentland shoved Deandre Williams, 22, on April 12 in a northeast Columbia subdivision known as The Summit. In addition to the shove, Pentland told Williams he was “in the wrong neighborhood” and “I’m about to do something to you. You better start walking right now.”

Williams’ father said his son was diagnosed with cancer two years ago, which led to swelling of his brain that caused Williams to struggle with completing basic tasks, according to the Post and Courier. Prosecutors also said Pentland shoved Williams once prior to the start of the video.

On the stand, Pentland said he’d “do the same thing again,” local newspaper The State reported.

Woman banned from zoo after unhealthy relationship with chimp: 'He loves me'

Woman banned from zoo after unhealthy relationship with chimp: ‘He loves me’
The woman had reportedly been visiting the chimp on a weekly basis for four years

During their visits, the two bar-crossed lovers would reportedly blow kisses and wave to each other through the glass of the primate’s enclosure — although thankfully they didn’t engage in any interspecies whoopie.

Nonetheless, Timmermans believes that their attraction is mutual.

Unfortunately, the zoo has since put the kibosh on their unorthodox love affair as it’s reportedly caused Chitah to get shunned by his fellow apes.

"When Chita is constantly surrounded by visitors, the other animals ignore him and don’t consider him part of the group," zoo curator Sarah Lafaut told ATV of the primate pariah, who reportedly spends 15 hours — outside of human visiting times — completely alone as the result of his banishment.

Lafaut explained, "An animal that is too focused on people is less respected by its peers. We want Chita to be a chimpanzee as much as possible."
