Teens Ding-Dong-Ditch world class cyclist on eve of big race..he spends night in jail for assault

Cycling World Championships Marred By Alleged Ding-Dong-Ditch Assault

https://defector.com/cycling-world-championships-marred-by-alleged-ding-dong-ditch-assault/

Mathieu van der Poel entered World Championships week as one of the strongest contenders to win the rainbow jersey in the men’s road race. It would not be an easy path. ______

This could have been his year. It was not, as he abandoned the race early. He did so because he was arrested and charged with assault after two teenage girls kept ding-dong-ditching him.

Van der Poel’s plan was to get a ton of sleep before the race. “I went to bed early and many children in the hallway of my room found it necessary to knock on the door continuously,” he told Belgian outlet Sporza. “After a few times, I was done with it. I didn’t ask so nicely to stop.” That’s euphemistic language, but basically everyone who knows what happened and has commented on the incident has agreed that van der Poel went too far when dealing with the rude teens. “There were children in the corridor playing and he went out to ask them to stop, but obviously not in the right way,” Alpecin-Deceuninck boss Christoph Roodhooft said.

New South Wales police, however, were more specific in their statement. “It’s further alleged the man then pushed both teenagers, with one falling to the ground and the other being pushed into a wall, causing a minor graze to her elbow,” a spokesperson for the cops told the Guardian.

Van der Poel has denied that he pushed anyone. Still, aside from the severity of van der Poel’s confrontation with the teens, the basic layout of the facts is pretty extraordinary: Two rowdy teenagers were playing, as the Australians call it, Knock and Run or Nicky Nicky Nine Doors on the hotel room door of one of the best riders in the world, said elite rider got so mad he crossed some line in dealing with them, he was up all night at the police station, and he didn’t finish the race.

FBI drilled open 1400 safe deposit boxes with plans to keep everyone's valuables for themselves

FBI misled judge who signed warrant for Beverly Hills seizure of $86 million in cash

FBI misled judge who signed warrant for Beverly Hills seizure of $86 million in cash

The privacy invasion was vast when FBI agents drilled and pried their way into 1,400 safe-deposit boxes at the U.S. Private Vaults store in Beverly Hills.

They rummaged through personal belongings of a jazz saxophone player, an interior designer, a retired doctor, a flooring contractor, two Century City lawyers and hundreds of others.

_____&

Eighteen months later, newly unsealed court documents show that the FBI and U.S. attorney’s office in Los Angeles got their warrant for that raid by misleading the judge who approved it.

They omitted from their warrant request a central part of the FBI’s plan: Permanent confiscation of everything inside every box containing at least $5,000 in cash or goods, a senior FBI agent recently testified.

____

Box holders would liken the raid to police barging into a building’s 700 apartments and taking every tenant’s possessions when they have evidence of wrongdoing by nobody but the landlord.

------

In some of those cases, prosecutors cited no evidence that the money was tied to any specific crime, alleging simply that a dog smelled drug residue on the cash, or that it was bagged or wrapped in a way that aroused suspicion of drug trafficking.

Baton Rouge HS students bussed to "college/ career fair" girls separated for traumatizing talk

https://www.theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/news/education/article_97dc38c2-3a0d-11ed-a388-3f7b65892ceb.html

More than 2,100 students from Baton Rouge high schools were excused from classes Tuesday morning and hopped on school buses to attend what was billed as a “College & Career Fair.”

Some students, however, came away from this districtwide field trip upset, saying what they participated in felt more like a church service.

“The majority of students chose to attend this field trip on the promise of free food and the opportunity to skip class, however the majority of students were not only disappointed by this event, but traumatized as well," Alexis Budyach, a senior at Baton Rouge Magnet High, wrote in a Facebook post.

______

Superintendent Sito Narcisse did promotions in advance of the Day of Hope event and spoke briefly to the students who attended.

Brittney Byrant, a biology teacher at Woodlawn High and the mother of a senior at the school, was one of those who took to Facebook to register her concerns. She’d learned the day before that she was serving as a chaperone for the event, accompanying her child. Bryant particularly objected to the organizer’s decision to separate the audience by gender and have the girls listen to a series of emotional talks from three female speakers.

“They talked about rape (and) forgiving the offender, suicide, prayer leadership, and many more dark controversial topics. We had females in the bathrooms crying due to the topics of discussion,” Bryant wrote.

Another parent wrote on Facebook, “DAY OF HOPE? More like day of trauma. You prayed over my child, told her that she should remain abstinent, talked to her about suicide, and told her that if she’s being abused in a domestic violence situation that she should forgive her abuser even if he’s not sorry.”

Bus Driver Allegedly Shoved Black Students, Told Them to Sit in the Back..arrested_ fired

Video of shove

https://m.youtube.com/shorts/J50N5IzEd6w

It all started with the driver manhandling the six year old when he refused O'Neil's order to take a seat at the back of the bus, even though the standard seating is for the youngest children to sit at the front.

When the 10-year-old daughter intervened to defend her brother, the video appears to show O'Neil shoving her as well.

'Stop touching my brother!' the sister appears to shout at the driver.

'Shut your mouth!' the driver replies. 'Get back there!' O'Neil barks, pointing to the back of the bus.

Then he delivers a forceful shove to the sister, yelling, 'what a pain in the neck you guys are! Get out of here!'

'I was stunned…the emotional damage that it did…my kids don't want to go back to school…they don't want to get back on the school bus,' Carter said.

Trump backed candidate John Gibbs: railed against giving women the right to vote, men are smarter

https://www.cnn.com/2022/09/21/politics/john-gibbs-womens-suffrage-19th-amendment-kfile/index.html

A Michigan candidate for the US House backed by former President Donald Trump once railed against giving women the right to vote, arguing that America has "suffered" since women's suffrage.

John Gibbs, who defeated in the primary an incumbent Republican who had voted to impeach Trump, also made comments in the early 2000s praising an organization trying to repeal the 19th Amendment which also argued that women's suffrage had made the United States into a "totalitarian state."

As a student at Stanford University in the early 2000s, Gibbs founded a self-described "think tank" called the Society for the Critique of Feminism that argued women did not "posess (sic) the characteristics necessary to govern," and said men were smarter than women because they are more likely to "think logically about broad and abstract ideas in order to deduce a suitable conclusion, without relying upon emotional reasoning."

Hosted on Gibbs' personal page at Stanford in 2000 and 2001, the Society for the Critique of Feminism argued for a patriarchal society run by men, calling it "the best model for the continued success of a society."

____

Gibbs requested the website for the think tank be removed from the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine in 2016, according to a spokesman for the Internet Archive. But CNN's KFile reviewed it on a different archiving service.

Private equity firm buys Missouri hospital and fires ALL employees

Buy and Bust: After Platinum Health Took Control of Noble Sites, All Hospital Workers Were Fired

The news, under Noble Health letterhead, arrived at 5:05 p.m. on a Friday, with the subject line: “Urgent Notice.” Audrain Community Hospital, Paul Huemann’s workplace of 32 years, was letting workers go.

Word travels fast in a small town. Huemann’s wife, Kym, first heard the bad news in the car when a friend who’d gotten the letter, too, texted.

“Your termination was not foreseeable,” said the letter, dated Sept. 8 and signed Platinum Health Systems, adding that the firing was permanent “with no recourse” and that the “medical facility will be shuttered.”

“I don’t know what my next steps are,” said 52-year-old Huemann, who supervised the laboratory at the Audrain hospital.

The future for the Huemanns, hundreds of other workers, and thousands of patients in two small Missouri towns began to unravel long before that afternoon. The drama playing out in Paul Huemann’s hometown is familiar to many who live in rural America: Communities are so desperate to keep their hospital open that they’re willing to gamble on any buyer, including those backed by private equity.

Sometimes they lose.
