When a Broadway-goer rails against a play as unfair to white people, the playwright responds

When a Broadway-goer rails against a play as unfair to white people, the playwright responds

Jeremy O. Harris is used to people leaving showings of "Slave Play" upset. The concept - three interracial couples who turn to Antebellum-era master-slave role-playing as a form of sexual therapy - has sown considerable offense, despite many critical raves about an edgy exploration of racism.

But nothing quite prepared the playwright behind the new Broadway show for an audience member's expletive-filled confrontation in the theater Friday evening, a moment caught partially on camera in which Harris says life imitated art.

Clips that exploded online with retweets and comments show the woman shouting her displeasure at "a whole bunch of stuff about how white people don't get how racist they are." She says she has undergone hardships ranging from rape to false arrest to single motherhood. How, she yells, is she not marginalized?

"I never once said that you as a white woman were not a marginalized person," Harris responds. "But if you heard that in my play, I don't know what to tell you."

"Perhaps read it or see it again," he says.

Billy Dee Williams Of 'Star Wars' Describes Himself As Gender Fluid

Billy Dee Williams Of ‘Star Wars’ Describes Himself As Gender Fluid
The actor who first played Lando Calrissian in the 1980s said he’s both “feminine” and “masculine.”

“I never tried to be anything except myself,” Williams told Esquire in an interview that published Tuesday.

“And you see I say ‘himself’ and ‘herself,’ because I also see myself as feminine as well as masculine,” he added. “I’m a very soft person. I’m not afraid to show that side of myself.”

Williams reprised his iconic role as the smuggler turned Cloud City administrator in the upcoming installment of the space fantasy series, “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker,” which is slated to hit theaters on Dec. 20.

n his interview with Williams, Esquire’s Matt Miller pointed out how Donald Glover, the actor who played a young Calrissian in last year’s “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” described the character as pansexual. Pansexuality typically refers to an attraction to people that is not limited by a particular gender identity or sexual orientation.

“Yeah, he’s coming on to everybody,” Glover said of Calrissian during an interview last year with SiriusXM after “Solo” writers confirmed the character’s pansexuality.

He continued: “I feel like if you’re in space it’s kind of like, the door is open! It’s like, no, only guys or girls. No, it’s anything. This thing is literally a blob. Are you a man or a woman? Like, who cares? Have good time out here.”

Williams was reportedly thrilled to hear about Glover’s remarks.

“Really? That kid is brilliant,” he told Esquire.

Ice preserved a tiny puppy in near-perfect condition for 18,000 years. Scientists are fascinated.

Researchers have big outstanding questions about the puppy they have named Dogor — “friend” in a language of the Siberian area where the creature spent 18,000 years in permafrost.

They’re still trying to figure out if the tiny animal is a dog or wolf. They wonder whether he could be part of the evolutionary bridge that turned a fierce wild animal into man’s best friend.

They don’t have to speculate about what Dogor looked like, however, because icy conditions have left him remarkably frozen in time. Scientists can touch his fur, lift his padded paws and pull back his lips to bare small, yellowed teeth.

“Fantastic, right?” says Dave Stanton, a research fellow at the Centre for Palaeogenetics in Stockholm who has been scrutinizing the long-lost canine. “We have quite a lot of ancient samples. … But this has got be one of the best-preserved.”

The puppy was discovered last year by locals in Yakutia, said Sergey Fedorov, who heads the exposition hall at the Mammoth Museum of Russia’s North-Eastern Federal University. Dogor left the wilderness as a lump of soil and ice, but scientists could make out the head and paws of what they believed at first to be a young wolf.

This puppy was frozen for 12,400 years, and its body is nearly intact — fur and all

Federov told The Washington Post that he carefully cleaned off dirt and debris to reveal near-intact fur — “extremely rare for animals of that time period.”

“It’s an amazing feeling, to see, touch and feel the history of earth,” he saihttps://www.washingtonpost.com/science/2019/11/29/ice-preserved-tiny-puppy-near-perfect-condition-years-scientists-are-fascinated/

Ohio bill orders doctors to 'reimplant ectopic pregnancy' or face 'abortion murder' charges

Ohio bill orders doctors to ‘reimplant ectopic pregnancy’ or face 'abortion murder' charges
Ohio introduces one of the most extreme bills to date for a procedure that does not exist in medical science

A bill to ban abortion introduced in the Ohio state legislature requires doctors to “reimplant an ectopic pregnancy” into a woman’s uterus – a procedure that does not exist in medical science – or face charges of “abortion murder”.

This is the second time practising obstetricians and gynecologists have tried to tell the Ohio legislators that the idea is currently medically impossible.

The move comes amid a wave of increasingly severe anti-abortion bills introduced across much of the country as conservative Republican politicians seek to ban abortion and force a legal showdown on abortion with the supreme court.

Ohio’s move on ectopic pregnancies – where an embryo implants on the mother’s fallopian tube rather than her uterus rendering the pregnancy unviable – is one of the most extreme bills to date.

“I don’t believe I’m typing this again but, that’s impossible,” wrote Ohio obstetrician and gynecologist Dr David Hackney on Twitter. “We’ll all be going to jail,” he said.

Celebrated El Cap climber falls 1,000 feet to his death in Mexico

Celebrated El Cap climber falls 1,000 feet to his death in Mexico

A rappelling accident is being blamed for the death of well-known California climber Brad Gobright, who fell 1,000 feet off a nearly sheer rock face in Mexico.

Gobright, 31, a native of Orange County, and fellow climber Aidan Jacobson of Phoenix had scaled the challenging Sendero Luminoso route in the El Potrero Chico outside Monterrey and were descending when something went wrong.

The pair were “simul-rappelling,” a technique in which two climbers balance each other’s weight off an anchor point. According to the publication Rock and Ice, Jacobson told a friend via email that Gobright rappelled off the end of his rope.

“Brad set up the rope for a short rappel and didn’t use the middle point. I tried to pull more rope on Brad's side but he said he was fine. We started simu rapping and Brad rapped off his rope.”

Gobright hit a ledge and bounced off it, falling about 1,000 feet off the cliff. Without Gobright’s weight to counter his, Jacobson also fell, reportedly about 30 feet. But he was able to stop himself before rolling off a ledge. Remarkably, he was not seriously injured.

The accident occurred Wednesday. Gobright’s body was recovered the next day.

Like El Capitan’s famed free soloist, Alex Honnold, Gobright was known for his free-soloing exploits, including Rostrum in Yosemite and an extremely difficult climb on the Bastile in Eldorado Canyon, Colo.

I know I have said this before, but I served 38 years under 8 Presidents from Nixon to Obama. Not once did any of them think they had to put their predecessor down to make themselves look better.

Trump to the troops in Afghanistan today: “It’s nice to know you’re fighting for something that is doing well, as opposed to something that was not doing well a number of years ago.”
The narcissistic motherfucker fell short of saying America was not worth defending under Obama.
