Texas Election Audit Demanded by Trump Fails to Find Significant Voting Issues

The first phase of the Texas election audit demanded by former President Donald Trump failed to find significant voting issues, according to a report by the secretary of state's office.

The first phase consisted of a partial manual count of ballots and security assessments in four of the largest counties in the Lone Star state, the Texas Tribune reported. All counties are already required to undergo this as part of the normal process.

Remi Garza, president of the Texas Association of Election Administrators, told the Tribune nothing in the report concerned him.

"There doesn't seem to be anything too far out of the ordinary with respect to the information that's provided," he told the newspaper.

The audit found few differences between the manual and electronic ballot counts, and only 509 possible cross-state duplicate votes—less than .005 percent of the more than 11.3 million ballots cast in Texas. Nine of these ballots were cast on Collin County, 12 in Dallas County, 27 in Harris County and 12 in Tarrant County, according to the report.

It also found only 67 possible votes cast in the name people who have died. Three of those were cast in Collin County, nine in Dallas County, four in Harris County and one in Tarrant County.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Is Getting Schooled After Describing Kwanzaa As A 'Fake Religion'

https://twitter.com/mtgreenee/status/1475235145854734336

Greene also attempted to slander activist Maulana Karenga, who created the seven-day holiday in 1966. Karenga, who was convicted of felonious assault and false imprisonment in 1971, has insisted he was targeted because of his work in Black nationalist politics.
According to Newsweek, Karenga currently serves as chair of the Africana Studies Department at California State University, Long Beach.

Social media users tried to educate the Republican, first informing her that Kwanzaa is not a religion.

Chaos at Infowars: Alex Jones in legal, personal disarray to end 2021

https://www.sfgate.com/politics/article/Chaos-at-Infowars-Alex-Jones-in-disarray-16733925.php

After 25 years of spreading vitriol on Infowars, Alex Jones’ media empire has rarely been more volatile — and disastrous — than it is right now. The far-right media personality faces a slew of personal and professional catastrophes, from a relentless parade of self-inflicted legal trouble to a laughable partnership with an internet hypnotist.

For much of his career, Jones has been able to evade financial consequences for spreading lies on his network. Up until now, the most severe penalty has been two public humiliations in 2017. That year, he was forced to apologize for and retract statements about James Alefantis, the owner of the pizzeria at the center of the “Pizzagate” conspiracy theory, and — believe it or not — the Chobani yogurt company. Jones claimed on-air that Chobani was linked to a sexual assault case involving children.

Jones doesn’t yet know how much he’ll be ordered to pay in each suit — juries will hear evidence and determine damages in the upcoming penalty phase — but the sum could threaten his livelihood. No one outside the company knows Infowars’ yearly earnings, but it’s clear Jones’ reach has waned significantly since he was banned from most major social media platforms in 2018. In what appears to be a flagrant attempt to raise funds for his legal woes, Jones recently launched “Reset Wars,” which he’s billed as the culmination of his decades of work.

A look at the Reset Wars website shows a long, rambling letter from Jones that mixes New Age self-help and Jones’ usual brand of angry paranoia.

Frank Somerville arrested for suspected DUI after crash

Bay Area news anchor Frank Somerville has been arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence following a crash Thursday night, the Oakland Police Department said.

Somerville has been on leave from his post at KTVU since September. KRON4 first reported the arrest.

Somerville was involved in a traffic collision near the intersection of Grand Ave. and Broadway St. just after 7:45 p.m., according to OPD. Witnesses reportedly told officers that one of the drivers involved in the collision collided with another driver's vehicle from behind, then proceeded to drive through the intersection, pushing the second driver's vehicle into a pole.

In its preliminary investigation, OPD determined that the first driver was driving under the influence. The driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment and booked at Santa Rita Jail, OPD said. The second driver was uninjured.

Somerville went off the air in June after noticeably slurring during a live news broadcast. Just months after returning to KTVU, Somerville was again suspended after reportedly sparring with the station's producers over coverage of the Gabby Petito investigation. The news anchor, who has a Black daughter, had wanted to append a tagline on how media coverage of missing people tends to focus on white women, while missing people of color receive far less media attention.

Watch This Bronco Blow Out Its 4WD System Attempting to Speed Through a Mud Pit

https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/enthusiasts/watch-this-bronco-blow-out-its-4wd-system-attempting-to-speed-through-a-mud-pit/ar-AASj8qX

We’ve determined time and time again just how capable the new Ford Bronco can be off-road. But like anything, there's a limit to how much abuse it can take. One owner learned this the hard way.

Eville Truck on YouTube, owner of a lightly modified 2021 four-door Bronco painted in Cyber Orange, decided to try to slam through a deep mud pit during a recent off-roading jaunt with a fellow Bronco. In the video above you can see the driver carry a whole bunch of speed going into the pit and entering at an awkward angle, slamming the truck into the ground and abruptly stopping, briefly lifting the rear into the air.

We hear the first bad drivetrain sound coming from the SUV, as if something in the driveline just snapped, while the truck tries to back up to get unstuck. The driver is still able to get the Bronco through the pit, but not without having to listen to a bunch of very expensive-sounding drivetrain knocks.

Afterward, the owner determines something in the 4WD system must’ve broken. As soon as it’s driven anywhere a terrible knocking sound comes from underneath the truck, and the front wheels don’t put down the torque they’re supposed to. Pop it into 2WD mode, and it works just fine. Whatever’s broken, we’re sure it won't be cheap to fix.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott asked the federal government to send medical staff, therapeutic drugs and

Texas Pleas for Federal Help (12:23 p.m. NY)
Texas Governor Greg Abbott asked the federal government to send medical staff, therapeutic drugs and testing equipment to aid the second-largest US state’s fight to contain the latest wave.

Abbott, a Republican who has been highly critical of President Joe Biden’s approach to everything from pandemic response to Mexican border security, issued a public plea on Friday as hospitals in Houston and elsewhere strain under growing virus caseloads.

The request targets six counties that include the Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth and Austin areas, all of which are experiencing alarming growth in positivity rates and hospitalizations, Abbott said in an emailed statement.
