Putin's war grows 'catastrophic' as he recently deployed a unit 'with no food and no socks'

https://www.rawstory.com/russia-ukraine-war-2658779646

Russian President Vladimir Putin's war in Ukraine is growing more "catastrophic" for the Russian military, which has been losing territory in the country for the past several months.

In an interview with The Daily Beast, United Kingdom Defense Secretary Ben Wallace outlined just how poorly things are going for Russia while also urging the Ukrainian military to keep pressing and maximize its advantages.

"A Russian unit was recently deployed with no food and no socks, and not many guns," Wallace told the publication. "That is catastrophic for a person going in the field... The Russians have scale, but are not very good. Well, most of the good ones are dead."

Wallace went on to describe the Russian strategy as being one giant "meat grinder" and he argued that "only a nation that does not care for its own people could send 100,000 of its own people to be either dead, injured, or deserted."

Monty Python's Eric Idle says he hates conservatives: 'they're horrible people' 'I hate them intense

Monty Python's Eric Idle blasts anti-woke comedians, says he loathes conservatives: 'I hate them intensely'

https://www.foxnews.com/media/monty-pythons-eric-idle-blasts-anti-woke-comedians-loathes-conservatives-hate-them-intensely

Swisher asked, "How do you look at cancel culture today, because now everybody is watched under great scrutiny," asking if Idle had seen the recent Dave Chappelle's monologue on "Saturday Night Live."

"What do you think of the comedians like Dave Chappelle, for example, who’s saying that he’s being subjected to censorship?" she asked.

Idle appeared to disregard Chappelle’s claim that cancel culture is a phenomenon because, "Well where does he say it? On SNL," later adding, "Well you’re not being that much canceled, are you? If you were in your room complaining I’d have a lot more sympathy."

"I grew up in that world," he said, explaining that he was a "war baby" from World War II, noting that fascism was "very real to us, fascism-what can happen if you let one person take over a country, so that still rings very strongly with me in my soul."

He also slammed conservatives in his own country, "I hate them intensely, I’ve always hated conservatives, I’m afraid to say I’m very prejudiced against them, they’re horrible people."

Surprise!! Walmart shooter displayed threatening / odd behavior before

https://www.cnn.com/2022/11/23/us/andre-bing-walmart-shooting-invs/index.html

In the past, Prioleau said, Bing could be "condescending when he spoke to us. He didn't have good communication skills. He was quite mean to a lot of us."

Shaundrayia Reese, who worked with Bing from 2015 to 2018, described him as a loner.

"He was always saying the government was watching him. He didn't like social media and he kept black tape on his phone camera. Everyone always thought something was wrong with him," Reese said.

A video Reese says she took in 2016 shows a man she identifies as Bing talking to people before realizing he's being filmed and walking away.

"He didn't like to be recorded," Reese said. "He was always scared that the government was listening."

Joshua Johnson, who worked as a maintenance worker at the store until 2019, also told CNN that Bing had previously issued ominous threats if he ever lost his job.

"He said if he ever got fired from his job he would retaliate and people would remember who he was," Johnson said.

Jim Jordan voted NO on the Inflation Reduction Act, he also voted NO on stopping price gouging at our gas pumps. So as the price of oil continues to fall, the oil companies are continuing to rip you off and make record profits for their shareholders. Blame Jim!

LGBTQ club shooting suspect's troubled past was obscured by a name change, records show

The Washington Post

LGBTQ club shooting suspect’s troubled past was obscured by a name change, records show

Years before he allegedly walked into a Colorado LGBTQ bar with an assault-style rifle, the man now known as Anderson Lee Aldrich had a different name, and a tumultuous past.

Until age 15, he was known as Nicholas Brink, living in San Antonio, public records show. His parents separated when he was a toddler, and when he was 12, his mother, Laura Voepel, was arrested for suspected arson, according to court documents. She was later found guilty of a lesser offense in connection with the same incident.

At age 15, he became the target of a particularly vicious bout of online bullying in which insulting accusations were posted to a website, along with his name, photos and online aliases, according to a review of the site by The Washington Post. At some point, a YouTube account was created under his name, featuring a crude, profanity-laden animation under the title, “Asian homosexual gets molested.”

For unstated reasons, just before his 16th birthday, the young man petitioned a Texas court — with two of his grandparents’ names on the document — to legally change his entire name. His mother’s name did not appear on the petition.

Nicholas F. Brink became Anderson Lee Aldrich, who, at age 22, would gain infamy as the suspected shooter accused of killing at least five people and wounding 18 others inside the Colorado Springs bar known as Club Q. The reasons behind the choice of the new name were unclear.

Inside the room: The entire L.A. City Council racist audio leak, annotated by our experts

https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2022-11-21/la-city-council-racist-audio-leak-transcription-annotation

A bombshell recording has thrown L.A. politics into chaos. What was really being discussed? L.A. Times reporters and columnists pick it apart, line by line.

More than a year after it was secretly recorded and a month after it was leaked, a backroom conversation among three Los Angeles City Council members and a prominent union president continues to shake city politics. It has triggered resignations, protests that halted much council business, and condemnations from the highest levels of the Democratic Party.

The discussion among the four Latino political leaders was widely denounced as racist, and featured profane remarks and insults about Black people, Oaxacans, Jews, Armenians and others. They also plotted how to use the city’s contentious redistricting process for their own gain.

It’s a rare glimpse into bare-knuckle power politics. Parts of it can be hard to follow. To help readers better understand the context and contours of the discussion, The Times brought together a team of City Hall reporters and columnists to annotate the conversation. Beat reporters offer facts and analysis; columnists provide their perspectives on a discussion that has changed the city’s political history.

_____

About this transcript:
This transcription was produced by a team of Times journalists. They worked collaboratively, listening repeatedly to the leaked audio to compile an accurate record of what was said. The text marked in bold in the dialogue has corresponding annotations.

Parts of the recording are muffled and difficult to hear; at times participants speak over each other. In these instances, some listeners may have differing interpretations of what was said.
