The risk of a nuclear exchange is of course the total nightmare...
But there's more.
Last year Russia successfully fired the Tsirkon ASM missile from a submarine.
What does that mean, what's a Tsirkon?
It's a hypersonic anti-ship missile with a range of 1000km and is *probably not defensible.
So that means... a Russian sub could fire the missile within 1000km of a US carrier group and sink a US carrier with 5000 crew onboard.
And there's probably nothing anyone could do to stop it.
So set up that no-fly zone... shoot down a few Russian jets... what's the escalation look like?
Not surprisingly... Bitcoin is up 16% in the last week. Coincidence?
Sure looks to me like Billions of dollars in fiat currency are buying up Bitcoin.
No banks to shut it down, can be used to transact payments globally and no "overseeing" regulator.
There was always the potential for it to be a currency for "criminals" but now...
The Russian State Bank was holding almost 700B in international currency reserves ... wonder if they're part of the action? Or just the oligarchs?
Ukraine uses drone strikes to wipe out Russian columns (graphic)
Sorry for the DM link... but it's pretty frikken awesome.

Belarus votes to bring Russian nukes on their soil
Just in the last hour the results of the referendum were announced.

Oddly... Russian success might bring faster Russian surrender and retreat.
This is just my opinion.
If the Russians keep getting their asses handed to them... and that's what's happening now...
The Russians will keep pouring the troops and heavy weapons in until they achieve some success.
IF the Russians take Kiev or maybe Kharkiv... any sort of undeniable victory, I think they rush to the negotiation table and cut a quick deal to GTFO of Ukraine.
I think to save face... they'll settle for the smallest of concessions and the Ukrainians will have won a BIG TIME victory.
But for a megalomaniac like Putin, he's not going to stop when the score is 13-0
He needs SOMETHING to cover up for his failure, some kind of victory.
IMHO, if it keeps going the way it goes now... he's going to bring in artillery, mlrs and aerial strikes, probably causing a LOT more damage and death to all sides.
Think back to Gettysburg. 2 Days of Lee getting his ass kicked, came close a few times but no cigar. Arrogance and Hubris took over on July 3, 1863 and he ran his troops into a meat grinder. He ordered one of the largest artillery barrages in the History of the planet at the time.
Desperation breeds recklessness.
That's opinion based on analysis.
Does it mean I'm hoping for a Russian victory? NO!!!
It's just analysis, cold clean analysis based on the situation.
Want to recommend a Twitter feed without BS... it's very current info

Up to 300 Russian Paratroopers KIA as TWO transport aircraft shot down in Ukraine
Yes, it's Daily Mail but apparently based on Ukraine Gov't reporting.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10553451/They-storm-tonight-Zelensky-says-Putins-forces-launch-scale-assault-Kyiv.html
Ukraine's government said earlier on Friday night that they had shot down two Russian military transport planes carrying paratroopers on the outskirts of Kyiv.
The first IL-76 came down near Vasylkiv, 20 miles south of Kyiv, the Ukrainian military said.
The second IL-76 was shot down near Bila Tserkva, 50 miles south of the capital, Nexta reported.
I know it's no consolation today... but Russia will be different when the (Russian) boomers die off.
Without the 55+ crowd... Putin and the Russian Authoritarians have very little support
I think within 10-20 years, Russia is just another European country... just like Peter the Great wanted.
