(2,602 posts)We are forced to pledge to the flag, reciting daily the lie with liberty and justice for all.
We are taught all men are created equal, when clearly, whom by a random accident of birth is either a life filled with advantages to a life filled with strife and everything in between.
We are taught that if we work hard, we can be whatever we want, and we will succeed. But the deck is stacked.
Safety nets continue to be shredded.
Nowhere is perfect. But I stopped feeling pride in being an American from the U.S. a long time ago. When Bush was re-elected I felt like I no longer belonged here.
Im 63 years old. I left a year ago. I know I am fortunate in having met and fallen in love and married a U.K. citizen, who lived with me in the U.S. for 22 years.
Enough. And I dont have to stfu.
