41. OK Jonfers. So, here's my point of view, but it's only mine. We are not a monolith:We're individuals

So, that's point of view #1. Regardless of whether or not you want to admit that you are also an individual, with self-determination and independent powers of critical thinking and determination, you are, in fact, an individual with self-determination and independent powers of critical thinking and determination, just like me.

2. We live in a country that began for the sole purpose of permitting all religions, or none, and to not establish any religion as a state religion.

3. Just as you believe you should be able to live according to your religious beliefs, so do I.

4. Where we differ is in the attempt to use the constructs of government to enforce specific ideologies based on specific ancient relics on those who are not members of that ideological group, by creating and enforcing laws governing many things, including reproduction.

5. I also don't think people who subscribe to worshipping invisible sky beings should be allowed to break the law by not paying taxes. If you can't produce your god, who supposedly overrides human laws, then pay up, Since when does a god require a 7% tax break???

6. I also don't think it's ok to "home school" children so as to better inculcate them in cultish religious doctrine: If your doctrine cannot withstand exposure to public schooling, which, by law, can not and does not influence children religiously, then it's a pretty lame-ass doctrine and needs to be forgotten to the ashes of history.

7. One last place we differ is on old translations of very old books: They prove nothing.

I hope you've noticed that I haven't dickered on details: The details are irrelevant. If any of the churches were right, people wouldn't shop them to find the one that "suits" them. People wouldn't build several churches in one country town when the town has enough trouble supporting one.

I also hope you've noticed that religion is a function of birth location: Born in an arab country? 99% chance you'll be muslim.

Does that help?
