9. The difference in the unemployment rate

may not be as great as the percentages quoted make it seem. My understanding is that Canada calculates the unemployment rate in a slightly different way from the US so the percentages are not strictly comparable. As for the Canadian economy being "a weak 2nd to the U.S. historically ", perhaps that might be due to having 1/10 of the population.
