We are, I suppose, best classified as a Democratic "political forum", but I find that the sense of camaraderie here is like no other.
We can indeed be just like a bunch of squabbling two-year-olds sometimes, but then we can still turn to each other when we bear terrible loss, have great news to share, need a recipe, want to know how to grow heirloom tomatoes (or cannabis, in another spot), and so on and so on. One can always find someone here to talk to about damn near anything. Sometimes all we need is a virtual hug, and to know someone's there to listen - or knock you upside the head, if that's what's required.
Add to that some of the most amazing political minds and some of the most wonderful writers ever (some incognito, some not), and you will find such diverse and intelligent discourse at DU; this place is pretty educational, too.
Whew! Hadn't thought I'd go quite so far with this, but it just kinda' kept spillin' out! Plugging the leak now...
