So as long as the vote was meaningless he was willing to placate Democrats? We're a little bit smarter than that. Hell I'm sure I could find things George W Bush supported that Democrats support that don't matter. That doesn't make him friendly to Democrats. It makes him a Republican politician trying to fool people.
