(63,221 posts)I am isolating as well. Sometimes I wonder if it is because of the virus (we have been very hard hit here in Boston) or if it's because I genuinely like it.
I am kind of afraid of the virus still at this point and there is nothing I really need to leave my apartment for, other than going down to the lobby or the basement for grocery deliveries and packages. I really don't like wearing masks, but I do when I leave the apartment (it's mandatory in the building) and I certainly would if I ever went anywhere, but if I don't have to go anywhere, I would prefer to stay in my comfy apartment mask-free.
Clearly, I am not having as much of a problem with this as some other people are. I am staying in touch w/ people by email, phone, text and I work during the day all week and am in a lot of online meetings, so I don't feel very isolated.
I am kind of worried about cases increasing as things start opening back up, so I kind of want to wait and see how things develop. No word yet about going back to the office. It won't be full time - they will stagger people off and on when we do go back to make sure there is enough space between us. I don't think there has been any real disruption in business due to this lockdown - for us, anyway - work is still getting done as usual.
I think the concern is that the team/corporate culture is breaking down, but if we have to "socially isolate" once we are back in the office, what is the point? I see no sense in sitting in a cube with a mask on all day not being allowed to meet in a conference room or talk to each other from less than six feet away.
I am kind of hoping this lasts through the summer. I think we need some time to see how the lessening of restrictions pans out.
