(15,807 posts)Our oldest flew home from the east coast about six weeks ago when college ended. He stays close to home.
Dh and our oldest went camping (socially distanced) at an unimproved forest service campground with some friends.
Weve had one of my siblings and their partner over for dinner a few times.
Weve seen my other sibling and their spouse plus one of their kids/spouse/little kids outside in their backyard.
Other than that, we do mostly grocery pickup or curbside pickup of other items (pet food, garden supplies). I decided to run into the store the other day before I picked up my curbside order. For some reason I couldnt order cantaloupe online. Took a couple of minutes to grab it and self checkout. Masked of course.
I did go to Costco recently and will again in early July and then shift back to delivery or curbside everything until the end of January.
We are visiting my youngest in a few weeks, driving the 12 hours to get there and back. We have a hotel suite with a small kitchen. Im sure we will go out to dinner one night, eating outside- but the state he lives in is one with very very few cases and few deaths.
I keep busy with work 5 days/ week (we arent going back to the office until at least the end of summer and Im guessing not until next year). I do have to do some field work this summer but Im prepped with face shields, gloves, masks and hand sanitizer. I intend to as much as I can via video and email before meeting with folks to minimize my exposure.
Weve gotten take out a few times. Its fine but not entirely necessary. Generally Im cooking 2 meals a day. We eat a lot of leftovers for lunch.
I spend as much time as possible in the yard, doing gardening.
It sucks not doing the typical bbqs with our friends but its just the way it is right now. I zoom with coworkers after hours now and then. Life is different. I likely wont have my oldest home for Christmas this year. Hes headed back to the east coast and lives in a state with high numbers of cases (but declining). He wont risk it if the country is seeing a surge as it is now.
