Our older son, 31, actually participated in an all night mass vaccination event in Phoenix, where he lives. It was held at the AZ Cardinals stadium, and volunteers were needed for everything from directing traffic, to registering people, to administering the shots. He is not a health care worker, so could not give the injections. His job for the overnight event was to help those who just got their first shots to register for the second one. Because of his volunteering, he was able to get his shots sooner than if he had waited for his age group to be eligible.
He said it was a very rewarding experience, and not just because could get his own shots. He related that people were very grateful, very polite, and some were crying with relief. I was very proud of him for doing this.
