(32,324 posts)That come what may on Nov 6th, we will still have the same basic pro-One Percent economic policy, with the Geithner/Bernanke guys still passing off the wealth of the Middle-incomed to the Fat Cats at Big Financial Firms.
And Kissinger, should he continue to keep his chest cavity beating, may still be an "adviser" to the President.
Dread is also in the fact that many Americans refuse to understand economic matters. Who still view the Occupy movement as something brought about by retro-"dirty-hippy"-ism. Until they themselves happen to be the ones in medical bankruptcy, or they are the ones who were foreclosed on, or they were the ones whose jobs were off shored. Then and only then do they wake up.
Dread also descends at moments like the one where Colbert had a very serious piece on the drone wars and the damage done, and the audience - uncomprehending of what America's number one satirist was saying, was whooping it up and then applauding. They weren't applauding Colbert's genius, but the deaths of innocents. Colbert looked a bit stunned by that.
