The older I get, the less I care about any sports.

When you're a kid it's easy to get caught up in the pomp and pageantry of the parade of nations and the myth of top performing athletes trying to break world records and the rags to fame stories but now, obviously, the Olympics haven't led to peace or better understanding between nations and there are fewer and fewer records that people are capable of breaking and it just seems like a waste for these kids to be spending all of this time trying to do a slightly twistier vault or ski jump .0001mm further instead of getting a real education and having a childhood.

I think competition in general is something we need a lot less of in our society. It feels antiquated when the problem we're facing like Covid and climate change and income inequality and threats to democracy are not problems that are going to be solved by one preson being the GOAT.
