7. The billionaires and corrupt politicians they fund believe they are immune from climate change.

They live in a world where vast wealth, wealth, privilege always shields them, so they expect to be shielded from climate change as well. They also are used to making money on the tragedy of others, so see climate change as a money making endeavor.
