9. It's an internet message board, and there aren't a lot of requirements for signing up.

Anybody can say anything, and whether the post is taken down depends on whether it's alerted and what a jury decides to do with it. Speculation, some of it improbable or dumb or even offensive, is inevitable because people want immediate answers. If they don't get them - and in situations like this the answers never come immediately - they start spitballing, and the results are often stupid. And brand new posters often provide the craziest suggestions, probably because they're bots or trolls. They will usually be promptly eliminated. Most of the discussion has been civil and sane; that which was not has been mostly challenged and/or removed. Hang in there; just keep in mind that there are always going to be disruptors as well as people posting in good faith but who haven't settled down and thought carefully about what they're about to say.
