39. MM is neither a young man nor on the cutting edge

I actually like a lot of his movies, really enjoyed his show TV Nation back in the 90s.

I didn't always agree with him or his tactics, but I think he did play a strong part in providing a necessary voice for certain social issues. And the fact he chose an offbeat, humorous approach worked well. I wouldn't want everything to be that way, but I appreciate it. And when we look back on history, I think it will turn out he did inspire some good.

But he's 70 now. He can't play the role of angry young man or appeal to irreverant liberal hipsters. And it does get harder to keep up the times or have your finger on the pulse as you age. I'm only in my 50s, and I can feel it already.

And sometimes the world has simply moved past you. But it's hard when did enjoy a lot of attention for a period. He just hasn't figured out how to adjust or realize it.

I've been saying that for years. MineralMan Jul 22 #1
