Cardinals' Kyler Murray apologizes for posting picture wearing Michael Vick jersey with his pit bull

4. I feel like it's a stretch to say Murray was intentionally referencing or condoning Vick's actions.

He's 28 years old now so he'd have been 8 or 9 when Vick's animal cruelty came to light. Twenty years later I don't imagine it was top of mind when he put on that jersey. He probably just grabbed it and put it on without even thinking about it and then took the picture later in the day, again without even thinking about what he was wearing.

That strikes me as significantly more likely than some coded reference intended as support for Vick's cruelty to animals. Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity (or thoughtlessness, in this case). When it was brought to his attention he took down the picture.

This kinda strikes me as outrage for the sake of outrage.
