(62,325 posts)just ordinary people who sensed that something very wrong was going on in this country. I remember being thrilled to find out that I was not the only one when I stumbled on Left blogs, like this one eg. And hopeful that since there were so many others, we could actually do something about it.
But around 2004 I noticed an influx of people who came to these blogs armed with 'talking points', NOT against Right Wingers but against the Left. 'Purity trolls' 'politically naive' etc and found it puzzling at first.
It's been a long journey since then and we've learned a lot, we've learned about the corporate control of our government eg and the influence of the Third Way Corporatists over our Party. A lot that we were puzzled about before, has become clear now.
That is better imo, that in fact we were 'politically naive' and as such easily manipulated into being led, rather than leading, as citizens are supposed to do.
It became all about 'winning' with no explanation of what that means.
Now we know. Maybe now we can start over, better armed with all the knowledge we have now, to choose our own candidates, to donate only to those who are most likely to work for us.
But it will take a long time. And those who attacked the Left for being 'politically naive', which we were, we didn't know many of them were operatives eg pushing an agenda that was far from what the people actually wanted, will probably hate the Left, no longer conveniently politically naive, even more.
Thanks for your post
