(20,219 posts)Actually, the "gender war" issue could teach us ALL a lot about teaching peace. It could teach us a LOT about learning to listen to other perspectives, and practice controlling our angry impulses.
It can be a real opportunity to stop and think, and reflect.
I can only speak for myself, here, but I think the core of the problem demonstrates unwillingness or lack of skill to listen and respond respectfully to another person.
So, it's not about everyone sighing about too much hate in the world. Good to know, but then, we should be interested what to do about that... Myself, in My everyday life. And, of course, "WE" is really each one of us as an individual, repeatedly asking ourselves, "how can I improve myself?" (Because the only person we can change is ourselves.)
So, again--for myself, I think doing my best to listen and explain without hostility is my attempt to do something positive. That's what I personally try to do, anyway. Not "throwing the first stone", as they say.
I know I see good conversations here when men respond to women by saying things like, "Hmmm, that is a viewpoint I never experienced." and, "I see what you mean." Or, "I don't see what you mean--here is where I'm confused..."
oh well, that's enough out of me....your remark got me thinking out loud.
