4. I suggest that you look at properties in the suburbs outside of New Orleans.

New Orleans real estate is much more expensive than the suburbs, with the exception of Metairie, which is also pricey. These are not the safer areas, either.

If you have a family, I'd recommend that you look around St. Charles Parish, which is only a 15-20 minute drive to the city.

If you're set on living in New Orleans, check with a real estate agent to find the safer, more affordable areas.

Btw, I adore New Orleans. I hope you'll find its ambiance as magical as I do.
