and will continue to do so until women become more selective over who they will breed with. this strategy will lead to numerous offspring, but each individual offspring we would assume has a lower chance of survival.
that's not to say that natural selection doesn't also favor the monogomous, father-stays-around strategy. this strategy leads to less children (capped at 1/9 months) but each child getting more parental attention is more likely to survive and reproduce themselves.
