refusing to support welfare instead of work? No one advocates that if you are able to work you should sit on your butt and collect welfare. But a lot of those "non-working" people are elderly, disabled, or not making enough to get by. You do realize you CAN work and still be eligible for benefits - this helps WORKING single parents as well. I know you say you support getting help through the welfare system, however it sounds like you don't really understand how the system works.
Currently 4 states allow EBT at fast food, I apologize for not realizing that. But not sure how that is "relaxed" - what it is meant is for people who cannot prepare food - homeless, elderly, disabled - to still be able to eat. I am sorry your son did not qualify for benefits and I am sorry he ran across one of the small % who will always exploit any system. But food stamps aren't a waste of tax payer dollars.
Edit - did more research on EBT usage.
